What does everyone think of this as a new website design?

http://darkcoinsample.hostoi.com/

Needs more info, wallets, etc but happy to do it asap

promising beginning imo. lovin' that binary light tunnel Smiley

maybe buzz words should be shorter and more simple, and include Darkcoin, e.g:

ANONYMOUS BITCOIN
NEXT GEN CRYPTO
ENCRYPTED LEDGER
DARK SEND
DARKCOIN
BECAUSE NUMBERS DON'T LIE
(chinese chars)
*german
*french
*spanish
etc

Why not include some cool chinese chars too (chinese word for 'anonymous' perhaps)
http://www.btc38.com/statics/images/altcoin_ad/DRK_ad.jpg

+ words for anonymous etc in major foreign languages.

PROBLEM: Many people  incorrectly think that bitcoin is anonymous. The messaging must convey the fact BTC is not and that DRK is.

Whether we say Bitcoin 2.0 or "true digital cash" or "more private/secure than bitcoin",  this key difference MUST be emphasized

im getting into this… Smiley

I put together my opinion on Darkcoin in a separate section so it could be discussed. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.5801959

Generally, I think Darkcoin is a partner to all alt-coins so that they can all access anonymous transactions with their own coins. Darkcoin can become a conduit and payment gateway to e-cash. Just my thoughts, that's all. Maybe it helps with some ideas for wording and branding.

Quite… DRK is the protocol for anon crypto exchange.

btw saw the "ISN'T BITCOIN ANONYMOUS?" section - good stuff

Just for everyone to be up-to-date:
Haubi is crashing.
Seems there are bad restrictions coming from the central bank of china, namely:

At 18:22:51

China's Central Bank on March 18, issued, requiring stop all bitcoin transactions prior to April 15.

http://live.sina.com.cn/zt/l/v/finance/globalnews1/

=======

If such restrictions come into effect, china exchanges will likely close down... but in the longer-run Darkcoin might become the only crypto which Chinese will be willing to use (though still being illegal)...

I botched the image in the previous post. Just to be clear I'm not saying use this one (of course if you want to) but something like the colour scheme as the coin.

Anyone tried mining with a 7990? Any good? I have one used for CAD work, but at night.......
I have four 7990:s hashing.

Mine are doing around 2200Khs per core / 8800-9000Khs / card.

edit: i run 2x7990 on 1x Corsair rm 850w without problems. I have two identical setups.

Are you sure you can run both cards incl. all other ( motherboard, fans, HDD etc.) on 850 W.

Only my two cards using 1000w if the are stressed on 100% minging LTC

Is there a difference using the X11 algo by mining DRK and scrypt coins like LTC?

X11 consumes like 40% less electricity, someone ppl already measured their exact consumtion diff in this topic few pages before. But it can be also guessed since the heat generation of the cards is also 30-40% lower atleast.

And how would two 7990 pull 1000 W? They have 2 8-pin connectors. This means 2*150 + 75 W (from the Motherboard) which equals in 750 W max for the cards. If you then take CPU, mobo, ram, hard drive into consideraton you're at around 870 W. X11 consumes about 30% less power -> 609 W. From the wall more because no PSU is 100% efficient. Gaming would probably not be possible with such a small PSU, but GPU mining for sure Smiley

The 2x8 pin connector has 3 x 18 AWG wire. 150 W is the official announced standard for the 6+2pin connector. It can much more than 150 W.
For sure, if X11 can run on much more lower power it could work. I will test it and post results.
I have read some reviews and the said 7990 has 505W under 100% stress.
My rig using two of them also has 1100 watt when is checked it before. My PSU is 1200W

I did, not because I want the bounty, but because I think it would be great to have a better looking website asap with more explanation about why darkcoin is something to get excited about. But now I see from your process above it was probably a waste of time.

Sorry to rant, and I don't mean any disrespect, but it would probably be good to have tasks stepped out by priority so that people aren't doing unnecessary work.

Not at all -- I appreciate your view. I would gladly take an interim design just to help get the new site launched, even if the design isn't final. I would hate to see work wasted.

To clarify -- those bounties were written up some time ago when we had to get a whole bunch of things done quickly and didn't have the luxury of a carefully planned branding & design schedule. My view of how I see our branding evolving to the finalised version is an ideal from a best practices perspective and it may not happen that neatly in practice. So if a really nice WP theme comes along, that might end up informing the logo design (for example). We have to be flexible due to the constraints we're under.

Thanks for clarifying. I guess the view of how this will work is evolving quite quickly. I'm maybe a bit impatient and may be outvoted on this but I think it would be great to have at least a better looking, more informative website up asap. I'm happy to hear you're open to the idea. People are starting to pay attention to DRK. I may not be the best person to do a quick fix website and I'd happily hand over the reins to someone with a better template/stock images.

In my view, the website bounty should be saved for a really good, customised website but I don't see any harm in putting up an interim one. As far as branding goes, the current one seems a few steps behind.

Here is the WP site I put together this morning: http://darkcoinsample.hostoi.com/

LimLims, if you're open to it, I'll give the WP login details to someone better than me to put some finishing touches on an interim website. I think it should be easy to transfer everything over from this sample wordpress to the real one.
The site is coming along nicely! It does look pretty similar to MinCoin https://mincoin.io/, but if it's an interim design I don't think it would be a problem. They have also added a video so they will look different enough.

Before going live with the website I would do two things. I think the logo should be at the top of the page, even it's not going to be the final logo design, it is still the logo that people will see on the exchanges right now. I would also change the green in the image at the top of the image to something more similar to the current logo and then there will be a fairly similar colour scheme running through the site with the blues and the black and white. Maybe something like this:

Others may disagree but I think a logo is important and the green in the top image  makes me associate the website with that colour.

I have tryed to mine Hiro by testing Sgminer and i have noticed and was surprised by the low temp during mining, but i was not sure if i was completly on the right way with my settings. With my two 7990 i got 7.8 mh.

As i did not checked that wattage from the rig i was sure it would be more profitable to mine VTC than DRK. I have to check the wattage
and recalculate. It´s even much better for the hardware mining DRK than VTC if we end no same profitable level.
Future way is to go and baghold DRK and VTC.

I'll put an amp meter on mine tomorrow and post the results.

Good news. Very welcome. But BTC38 is a small player in China.  This is where the serious action is:

For each exchange, the numbers include only the trade volume to/from the currencies listed in the rightmost column. Trade between BTC and other cryptocoins, such as LiteCoin, is NOT included.

Dates on the header line are UTC. Specifically, "01/15" means "from 01/15 00:00:00 UTC to 01/15 23:59:59 UTC". (Beware that the same period may span part of day 01/14 or part of day 01/16 in your local time zone.)

NOTE: There are at least five additional large exchanges in China that are not on this table because they are not covered by Bitcoinwisdom: FxBTC, ChBTC, BTCTrade, BTC100, and BTC38.  Together they may have as much volume as Huobi or OKCoin.

OKCoin, Huobi and BTC-China.

FYI, http://q30.qhor.net:7903/  P2Pool node is back online.

@chaeplin: The xcoin_hash pythom module does not work in debian 7.
I had to modify the p2pool-drk server software to use the old (good working) dark_hash plugin.

Have you deleted 'xcoin_hash/build' directory before 'python setup.py build' ?

dark_hash is copy of original xcoin_hash which python module name is 'quark_hah'.
I just changed python module name from quark_hah to dark_hash.

I did nothing.

Coinmine.pl is above 50% again, please spread your hashing power

source: http://darkcoin.mine.nu/poolhash.html

if you care about the value of darkcoin, then dont go to a pool that has so high a hashing rate, investors look upon this as being risky....

52,6%  Huh

52.9% .. its getting worse

Maybe it would be possible to adjust the block reward according to how often the same wallet finds the block? So if a pool has close to 50% they are finding almost 50% of the blocks, and if the algorithm would start decreasing the reward given to the big pool people would be motivated to move to smaller pools.

since apeals have not helped, and you can still sign up to coinmine.pl something more drastic needs to be done, i dont care what pool people choose, as long as we can get the total hashing rate balanced out, so no pool has 50+ %

Edufield??

Edit:

Even the Bitcoin community knows how bad it is, and the pool owners are active in making sure they dont go over 50%.
The weakest point in any coin, is the size of their pools.
Its fine in the beginning that there only is 1 pool etc etc, but darkcoin has now been runnning for 2 months, and its not like there arent good pools around, i can count at least 4 stable pools (including p2pool)
