BTW, the DarkCoin clone, Hirocoin...... a lot of people over there are excited by the fact that it uses X11, and its low power usage.

Clearly a big selling point over here also, but they seem to be doing a good job at marketing the X11.  I see X11 written around the place a lot more than here.  Just a thought Smiley... As it seems that X11 is getting a decent amount of attention now.

I'm the developer of Hirocoin and I want to help position X11 as the next home of GPU miners. I remember what the GPU miners moving from SHA-256 to Scrypt did for Scrypt based coins like Litecoin. There will come a point where Scrypt ASICs are common and GPU miners will need to move on. Making X11 the standard to move to will be huge news for Darkcoin and Hirocoin. Plus it will bring better tools for our coins.

By the way, Hirocoin is more of a Litecoin clone that uses X11. Darkcoin offers anonymity and unique difficulty handling where Hirocoin is your conventional offering but done well. Check GitHub for the thorough work that went into it.

Launching Hirocoin helps solidify X11 place in crypto. If Darkcoin is the sole user of X11 it will not get the tractions it needs. Darkcoin is successful and I plan to make Hirocoin successful to, this will bring more attention to X11 and more coins using this solution. Now is the time to push  Evan's X11 to secure long term success for Darkcoin.

thnx

Yes, I mine with my 2* HD7950 and i7-4820K (487 kh/s).

For the CPU check : http://wiki.darkcoin.fr/index.php?title=Installer_Minage_CPU_Windows

I was trying to mine with my cpu as well as gpu but as soon as I started my cpu my miner crashed so I tryed another coin with only cpu but still crashed would this be something to do with my drivers Huh

interesting project

I do not know if it is planned but a distributed/decentralized marketplace on top of the protocol would be a killer app
+1
...and then we will not have to put our trust in exchanges, and pay for their lack of security measures as we had with c-cex and poloniex.

darkcoin price chart is going down steadily to oblivion. this coin is not only bad for miners ( low profitability) its also horrible for investors.

http://postimg.org/image/kylsqtkm1

what is even MORE retarded is its 400+ difficulty.

We are doing serious business here. Evan & co are creating a long term viable anon currency.

Most of us are not interested in short term speculation issues

Hi everyone, I've had a go at the "absolute beginner's guide to getting started with darkcoin (using wallet, screenshots)" bounty

Here it is: http://darkcoinguide.us/

I have some more stuff I still want to add, and will do so in the next few days. I'm open to suggestions, so you can contact me here or email me at [email protected].

Good work both of you

what is even MORE retarded is its 400+ difficulty.

Difficulty compared to scrypt is around 130, price is rather stable compared to any other altcoin especially looking at those useless clones and premined shitcoins

It's funny how people forget that the primary goal is to create a currency, which is much better when it is stable.... Would you want to pay 1 BTC for a cup of coffee at Starbucks today?

Also, someone slap me if I'm way off base here, but if the difficulty keeps going up, doesn't that imply that more people are mining it, increasing the net hash rate? That hardly sounds like spiraling into oblivion.

The difficulty is currently hovering between 250 and 380ish. The network hashrate hovers between 8 and 10.5 GH/s. There isn't even a 400+ difficulty. Just little spikes. We will see how it will develop when DarkSend is released. It appears that more and more of the members of the cryptocoin community seem to be really short term focused without looking really into the future. Best example is litecoin. Whales dumpin like shit after it hit $21 and that is not even its real value, way undervalued at the moment. Similar with DRK

With the creation of so much great information about Darkcoin, I'd like to ask everyone a favor:

If you don't mind, could you add a line like

to documents or images you create? It make it much easier to move things around. Also, it helps protect (the sharealike license requires credit be given the original author(s)) the things you've worked hard to create.

If you want to read more about the creative commons  copyright licensing, it's here

Hi guys I have a new project that will rock the DRK world https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521677.new#new I am looking for investors and developers to execute my vision. It will have a impact on the downward trend of DRK and improve stability of price across the exchanges.

Please let us know the details - is it the same as the new BlackCoin pool? We can decide as a community if its something we are willing to support Smiley

Thanks.

If I remember correctly Blackcoin isn't mineable anymore, so that's why they put miners elsewhere and then buying Blackcoin with the BTCs. However, Darkcoin is mineable and its profitability is usually compared with the top scrypt coins, not to mention that the mining involves far less energy. I doubt we could gain something out of it, unless scrypt profitability was much higher.

First implementation is not scrypt so you will be able to use ASICS and this is recommended.

As I said it will not be toxic to any alt coins like the new blackcoin pool which mines the coins dumps > converts it to BTC then into Blackcoin. < Nice for exchange fees

I have major plans for this which include GRC and perhaps GHC and I will be PM'ing the dev's of these coins over the next few days. Trust me you will want to support this by pointing your miners there.

It will also include a small percentage that will go towards "Hacked exchanges or lost funds for whatever reason". Since crypto as we know it is under constant attack from people that like to make a quick buck this should cover any potential lost funds to pool members.

Good point, I'll get rid of that pool bounty.

I'm not sure about bounties for political stunts. We'd have to consider whether political positions are better expressed officially or personally.

contribution to support creation of Internet Bill of Rights - for privacy rights. I can't think of anything better to defend against the accusations that darkcoin is courting criminal intent, but in any event, its actually a good idea.

Doesn't have to be political. I just used it as an example. Whatever we can come up with that will gain us some good exposure with media etc.

Ok sure. Well, come up with some good ideas for media exposure and we'll definitely consider them. Ideally it'd be something without too much organisational overhead since we don't have a marketing team, and are super busy with everything already! I do like the idea in general though.
