Don't spam boards, media, trollboxes. Attention will come naturally as a byproduct of what's going on in here. As they say "build it and they will come". Hype and spamming are for shitcoins, creating the opposite effect on those who are in the receiving end of the hype/spam.

Agreed. I am starting to see this trend in every altcoin thread. People hold a lot of coins and talk the same thing over and over until the coin dies

1) Lets market this and bring awareness.
2) Someone is keeping prices low deliberately.
3) Hold
4) Lets market this and spam everywhere.

By this time the coin has been pumped and dumped by the pumparazzi and a lot of bag holders mourning on the thread. Same story, every altcoin.

Please don't do it with darkcoin. It doesn't need it.

The Buck Stops Here.
Has anyone else besides eduffield successfully DarkSent yet?

Yes, personally I've used Darksend over three times of varying amounts with Eduffield. That being said, it is still a beta release. Expect a quark or two.

So, apparently we've attracted some unwanted attention and someone is already DDOSing darksend. So we recommend you not using it until we get some antiDDOS code in and do some penetration testing. Who knew we were this popular?

Infamy is always a good thing.  Maybe, we'll get some media attention now Smiley Smiley

yes

Yes.  I was also part of the alpha testing, worked like a charm!

We can expect a few problems on the way, this is still very much beta! But a huge step in the right direction!

Exciting stuff!

Hmmm who would gain from having DarkSend fail?

I doubt it can "fail" because there is a ddos attack. Perhaps testing problems from no connectivity can occur, if there are very few darksend nodes for testing, but not much else.

Questions:

a) Is the source code for the mixing/stealth in the github repo?   If so where?

It isn't.

b) Why was block reward halving removed 4 days ago in main.cpp?

Because the number of coins would be capped at ~10m in a few years instead of 84m over a longer period of time.

I only run cryptocurrency code that I compile myself from source, so if the source isn't available then I am getting off this bus.   Y'all still on board let me know how the ride turns out.

As far as I understand, it has been agreed that source code will be open sourced after it is officially launched (now it's in beta).

No, and it won't be until it's out of beta and all the kinks are worked out.  We don't want other coins implementing this code and having troubles with it then blaming our developer.  However, there is a regular wallet you can download from source.  It doesn't have the darksend features in it, but only people who want to help debug darksend should be downloading the beta wallet.  It's not ready for prime time yet.

In reality, Bitcoins are already hard to trace and practically untraceable if you are using tumblers.

No, they're not.

Hmm, already notified the verge. I'll hold off on notifying any more tech blogs until the bugs are patched.

That's not surprising.  This coin has been the victim of sabotage from the beginning.  Someone is trying really hard to make the road as bumpy as possible.

Someone should be emailing every tech blog's tips email about darksend. This is BIG NEWS!

Careful with this, sounds like there might be a couple kinks.  Last thing we want is Gizmodo posting about how it's broken...

I've tried but I haven't been able to get it to work.  On the bright side, when I fired up the other computer and launched the beta client I found 20 drk that I had mined back in the beginning of February when the difficulty level was very low.
