This question can be applied to all "monetary" cryptos but I'll ask it here since it's related to the upcoming main feature of Dash which is ease of use for an average Joe.
How does your agenda combine fighting governments with their fiat system and banks, with aspirations for legal mainstream adoption and everyday use by ordinary people at the same time? Especially if it allows the people to hide their money from the said governments.
How can anything like this ever be widely used and legal at the same time?
Good question. I can't speak for the core team or Evan, but I can give you a point of view that I *think* they share??
First, I don't think Dash wants to fight governments, it's a waste of energy. Of course, if the government decides to fight Dash, we will defend ourselves on very solid grounds. Not all governments allow for any type of freedom, though, in which case, they will have to try and stop it, which is no easy thing. So actually, I feel that tightly gripping governments will be the easiest places for people to use cryptos (Dash) since they usually have bad enforcement and a high degree of graft.
So lets take the USA/Canada/Europe etc... They have the money to cause all kinds of legal troubles, but they also have strong constitutions. I only know of the USA, and here, there is no law against using another monetary system, only for not reporting your income ( capital gains, etc...) and yet they have to prove that you own and are hiding wealth from the tax man. So if people can hold their wealth in something out of the government's reach, then the government will have to find new ways of taxing. The VAT system is pretty simple and straight forward. Charge a tax on anything bought. That makes sense. People who buy more are usually richer, and those that buy less are poorer. Nicely balanced tax it seems
I don't know the best way to raise taxes in such a world, but it's been done for thousands of years (before fiat, when silver etc... was used) and is no different now. They'll figure it out.
The genie is out of the bottle, now the world (governments) simply have to catch up.
In the meantime, it's usefulness will drive adoption. Also, I don't see any real challenge to the use of cryptos (Dash) but rather there will be attacks on aspects of it....which will ultimately fail, again in my opinion. Bitcoin and Dash are built on solid principle. They will fight us, but then they will lose.
Oh, and btw, because Dash has a budget (and actually retains a law firm) we will have no troubles fighting.....there will be no need to beg for help
