He is emotional but right. As it is a second coin to ETH to mine, the demand can not keep up with the supply we can see it in the price. Dual miners are just dumping it.
Decred should be mined by people who deliberately want to participate in PoW for profit, not just dump it as a byproduct of a primary coin.

I am not sure if it can be changed, but it would be advisable.

I don't really see the issue.  Those people mining are still spending their money for electricity and putting wear and tear on their hardware to mine DCR, it's not just falling from the sky into their laps for free.  Now they have worked to acquire DCR and from that point they can decide to keep it if they believe in it or sell it off like any other crypto.  The market decides what something is worth and apparently people don't care that much about DCR and are selling it.  It is what it is.

GOING TO ZEROOOOOO

Your posts in this thread make you sound like an emotional bag holder that was looking for a quick few bucks.  Either sell your coins, take a loss, and move on or have some patience and play the long game like most investors are.  Either way quit whining.

... Can anyone explain how I ended up on testnet? Maybe there's an option to toggle from test to livenet.
...

go to "add wallet" , "create new wallet" , "show advanced options" and uncheck "testnet"

Thanks EmilioMann! I figured I was just overlooking this option. All squared away now!

the big problem for these coin
is that
is out some miner that can mining eth and dcr
so dcr is second coin

and will be like other second coin shits

NAMECOIN

IF DEV DOES NOT CHANGE THE CODE FOR NOT DOUBLE MINING THE DCR

THE COIN IS DEATH

Thank you.
Do we know if any of those recipients contributed to the project?

I'm not seeking to criticise anyone, I know it was an experiment. I'm just curious how it went.

Are you looking for a number? I did the same as jwinterm

I'm mining and running full-node and staking. I'm in for long-term, because i believe this tech. Most of altcoins are forks of some other coin, Decred is unique with it's decentralized ticket-voting system and all details are done pretty good imo, including example the mining rewards which decrease slowly without huge halving. Good project will find demand, sooner or later.

(…)

Not sure if it would be helpful, but this was the testnet address generated from my wallet.....

TsYrA4hV29ZQoQrquRt2zPNFNbGdPcmWWyG

Not exactly helpful, but I'm pretty sure all DCR addresses start with a D. So this would be definately a testnet address.

Right, exactly! Had I been paying better attention, I would have caught that prior to sending coins. I didn't lose my 1.5 dcr, but since that's all it was, I just copy pasted to polo Smiley

Is there a nice updated guide of how compile and use the wallet in order to store some DCR? Thank you.

https://docs.decred.org/getting-started/overview/

If you are looking simple way to just hold coins, not stake: https://wallet.decred.org/ is the easiest option.

Question: In this online wallet, when looking at the `wallet information` tab, it shows `dcrdtestnet` for the network.  That doesn't sound right and I can't change it. Before sending any coins, I'd like to know things are setup properly.

Please advise Smiley

Ignore testnet stuff, it doesn't matter, you will still  be able to send and receive coins in your wallet. If you want, try to send smallest amount first just to make sure.

So wow!......that actually was a testnet wallet that I was using!

I tried to send 1.5 coins from Polo and it came back as an invalid address.  Then, I went to the decred website and clicked on the "Create Web Wallet Service" link.  Now, my wallet says `dcrdlivenet`

What's puzzling to me is the fact that the link from @Penttikuisma is exactly the same link as from decred.org.  Can anyone explain how I ended up on testnet? Maybe there's an option to toggle from test to livenet.

Look at Decred Network Statistic @ https://dcrstats.com/

840K DCR were distributed among crypto enthusiasts in an airdrop.
Thank you.

I guess you could say I've contributed by not selling my airdrop coins, mining initially, then later buying a couple more and staking. I haven't built any apps or services or anything yet tho...

It has been known since launch who guys behind decred:

https://www.companyzero.com/

are the same guys that created btcsuite

https://github.com/btcsuite
But didn't the Decred team seek out people who may have been able to assist and give them Decred coins for free?
How many of the people who were given DCR helped with the project?
