Apparently there has been some forum abuse involving newbies and linked images, so theymos has disabled images posted by newbie accounts. Once this account achieves junior status the images in the OP will display properly again.

"Blocks are hashed using Scrypt, x11, or SHA256 algorithms."

"But, only 3 consecutive blocks can be found using a single algorithm as described under "Algorithm Control", and difficulty is adjusted across all three algorithms simultaneously as each block is found."

ELI5

I imagine 3 chickens pecking at the dish of rewards.
If chicken Alpha gets 3 rewards in a row he gets pushed away from the reward dish.
And has to wait out a turn. (this is correct?)

---

now in theory one algo could get shut out, no?

example:
sha sha x11
sha sha x11
x11 sha x11
sha sha x11

see no reward for scrypt

This is essentially the way it works, except that the difficulty adjusts across all three algorithms, so that as one or two goes up, the other one or two comes down in an attempt to balance the blocks across all three algorithms.

Would be really nice to have a custom blockchain explorer that provides some details on blocks found by each algorithm.

TT

Wasn't 100% satisfied with my own answer, and have been looking into this more.

First of all, DGC needs a block explorer that provides information on blocks found by each algorithm. I think xawksow had one running at one point. Would really be nice to see some stats on blocks found by each algorithm and hashrates. coinwarz does a nice job of breaking out the different algorithms, but it's not a block explorer.

Anyways, re-reading your post BitcoinNational, was that just an example or are you saying that Scrypt is getting shut out?

I think it would be helpful to do a review of Digitalcoin to evaluate how the three algorithm system is performing, and potentially make some recommendations for any improvements that could be made. Would be interested to hear from someone qualified to do this kind of evaluation.

Needed to make updates to the OP, and will need to do so in the future. I still watch the other ANN threads also.

Ah yeah, I did not think about that. Then you guys got a valid reason for keeping this topic as the leading one Wink.

I would love to participate more in the DGC forums, but I still do not have the time for that. The same applies for the chat-channel.

I have the same questions. How does it matter that retired community members have created the previous topics with regard to DigitalCoin? I mean, the topics still exist and continue to exist..

However, I'll regularly check this topic from now on too, as DigitalCoin is my all-time favorite altcoin Smiley.

I personally post most things on https://forum.digitalcoin.co though, even though we don't get too much participation. Would be nice to have a little more activity there.

Wondering why you have created a new thread about Digitalcoin. What happened to the old one?

The ANNs are still there. First one started by baritus (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/anndgc-digitalcoin-multi-algo-masternodes-established-2013-209508), second by kenel (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/dgc-digitalcoin-30-multi-algorithm-improved-blockchain-storage-released-785601), so hopefully this one will be permanent.

is this the new official thread of Digitalcoin. Wondering because there are several open thread :/

This is the new official DGC thread.

The first and second were done by retired community members who still use their personal accounts.
