Why everybody says that "Merge mine with HUC and cap the coin"
What's the HUC? And why should merge mine with HUC but LTC?

Because the two are match made in heaven.

DOGE has tons of marketing dumped into it and little mining power.
HUC has little marketing, but the potential for HUGE mining power. (Huntercoin is dual algo, so it is merge mined with SCRYPT/ASIC... BTC and LTC in other words... why pick only LTC when you could have the strength of both.)

Together they could make some serious changes in the world, but the HUC dev would want to do this too (They are namecoin developers.)  Would be nice to have everyone on the same wave length... community and devs from both sides, but I am 99% sure Jackson actually wants to kill it. He doesn't give a rat fuck about digital currency and thinks it is all a joke.  I think it would be best for DOGE if he left the project.

I am saying cap the coin because

A: It was originally pushed to the public as capped. BTC wanted to flow into it more then than now (obviously)
B: A capped coin means that your coins are special.. if it isn't capped there will just be 5.25 Billion new coins from now till forever.

(Huntercoin is the Namecoin devs new project. They are really wonderful guys and I'm sure the two dev communities could team up and make a monster.) I've seen it before Wink

I have a soft spot in my heart for DOGE and I really want to see this coin last.  This includes being profitable...

1doge=$1 that is a winners attitude. Not Jacksons 1doge=1doge.

I fucking win

As an additional thought is it possible to add messages to older clients when they connect? i.e. notify them of the most recent version?

It is possible. Gridcoin does it, and even auto-updates.

There's some kind of bug in the 1.1 client.  Whenever I try to send coins now, the client freezes for 5 or so minutes, then sends the transaction, however the transaction is not seen on the network (only locally).

1.1? This still works? Now might be a good time to upgrade to 1.7 Smiley

1.7 ?!?1?!  Huh

Yes, released two weeks ago. You may find it here: http://dogecoin.com/

Hot tip:
The Rally back to 100 will be a ~50% gain in BTC value for Doge owners.
Many "traditional" investors work hard to make 8% in an entire year (for example)
This is not the time to be sad and scared: Love your inner DOGE.  Smiley

Don't say that now please! I want to buy doges at 60 satoshis like some had the chance to do on Cryptsy this morning Cheesy

I was told a number of times there was a cap and the OP of this said cap. Having a cap has even been outlined as being important by Billy in an early on interview with Business Insider.

"It's a revolutionary technology, absolutely revolutionary," Markus says. "And it works as a store of value because it's deflationary, there will be a cap [on Bitcoins created]. It's just highly speculative, which makes it hard to use, to spend and spread it."

This is important for peoples coins to be "special" and the network can be covered even if it is capped.

This is actually a good argument against having a cap; the goal of dogecoin is to be liquid, and actually used for commerce, more as a currency than a commodity. Its small inflation rate seems to be a good solution for that. And it's important to keep in mind that the inflation will actually be less than Bitcoin's for the next few years, which leaves enough time for cryptocurrencies to gain momentum, and make their value grow which will satisfy investors.

If the DOGE community was a bit more interested in introducing people to digital currency as a whole it would probably get more BTC to flow into it.  Like at first...

We are interested in that, that's why we do all the PR stunts like Nascar; there's 10000 more members in our subreddit than there were last month, that's a nice growth.

1DOGE=1DOGE is complete bullshit from someone who doesn't care and has openly admitted it.  Maybe everyone doesn't care, but I hate to see the people who have put so much work into making DOGE successful simply get shit on by the ones who are allowing the fucking thing to die.

Agreed, a currency is worth as much as we can trade it for, I'm tired also of hearing 1 doge = 1 doge.

Merge mine with HUC and cap the coin. Like ive been saying

Actually, merge-mining with LTC would be a better idea, imho. Merging with HUC would bring, what, 1 more gh/s?

HUC is merge mineable with BTC and LTC, so DOGE would get the power of both in the long run.

ASIC/SCRYPT protection rather than just either or.

Edit:

I think the DOGE community to get almost every BTC/LTC pool to support their network through HUC.

DOGE needs to

A: Cap @ 100 billion

I was told a number of times there was a cap and the OP of this said cap. Having a cap has even been outlined as being important by Billy in an early on interview with Business Insider.

"It's a revolutionary technology, absolutely revolutionary," Markus says. "And it works as a store of value because it's deflationary, there will be a cap [on Bitcoins created]. It's just highly speculative, which makes it hard to use, to spend and spread it."

B: Merge mine with HUC. This will keep the network strong and protected.  DOGE is a perfect example of what people can do when they work together as a whole, but the whole has to keep their miners spinning profitably to continue to bring BTC into the DOGE network.  Merge mining is simply coins working together to keep their networks protected as a whole.

1DOGE=1DOGE is complete bullshit from someone who doesn't care and has openly admitted it.  Maybe everyone doesn't care, but I hate to see the people who have put so much work into making DOGE successful simply get shit on by the ones who are allowing the fucking thing to die.

Tips only make a fuck if they are worth something, $100 to that hot bartender with blonde hair and big titties will get your glass refilled and shots lined up faster than giving her a nickle.

A dev was selling 120 moded gridseeds yesterday on Reddit, and they were sold out within 4 hours! It shows that shibes are ready to step-up and defend the network Smiley

When the price rises people get greedy and buy too much at high levels.
Near historic (or medium-term) lows many people are way too scared to buy a lot more.
^^^This is why most traders lose money....Shhhh....Don't tell the noobs.  Wink

Well yeah. It's common that some people are afraid to buy after a downtrend because of worryin it will go down further. But really? People buy at historic heights? In fact the largest sell volumes came at those historic heights when it comes to doge coin. After all te hype wore off I don't think there were any bigger massive sell orders than the ones @ ~ 200+ satoshis.

But really?
Most traders lose money long-term, but that doesn't mean "the masses" are always wrong.
At major turning points when Bullish/Bearish sentiment is 80, 90%+ is when it really pays off to go against the crowd

People buy at historic heights?
Of course, some do expecting much higher prices. Without heavy buying at 170, 180, 190, the price would have never gone over 200.
Also at/shortly after a high of 250 (for example) you get many people who think ~230 is a good price when it is probably a big mistake.

I don't think there were any bigger massive sell orders than the ones @ ~ 200+ satoshis.
True, with such a large supply, sellers were wanting to ride the trend, but did not want to miss the one great chance to sell.
