We all knew attacks would come.  I don't think anyone is surprised about defects in quality of third party sub-contracted work.
I must agree the 3 party quality. Almost nothing letf from original code.
But be noted, they fail the mission and cost nothing.

Attacks actually prove that they take exchange serious enough to attack and try to gain something.
Maybe not good choice of contract coders. But in future you should still considered professionals do some work for you if necessary.

Nice to see a comprehensive post Halibit and that you managed to sort things out.

Great update, and yes 3rd party coders can be really sloppy. Glad to see you have fixed everything that was causing problems and implemented new solutions to handle future problems as well. Awesome work halibut, can't wait till this pays off for you and the investors as well!  Grin

Hello.

After the issue is off the table and I dealt with the aftermath I like to inform you what happened on last week:

The whole issue happened because the website was under an attack.
The query code and the trade engine was under attack. This resulted in a stack overflow.

The only way to solve this was to install a server backup.
After the backup I had to deal with balance errors because we had some minus balances.
I noticed some flaws in the code and you can believe me when I say, that I will never work with the company again which built the website. Since the launch of alcurEX I’m fixing stuff. Good news is that all security mechanisms are working and every issue was fixed.

If someone feels like his balance is not what it should be, you can check all trades, deposits and withdraws using link this link (please login first):
https://alcurex.com/index.php/crypto/checkonebalance

I built several mechanisms to protect us from future attacks.

Off course we secured the security flaw and this kind of attack is not possible anymore.
Good news is, the hacker did not get anything and now I have more tools to handle this kind of situations in the future much better.
The withdraw engine was updated as well.

Some words about the time it needed to fix everything:
I wasn’t prepared for an attack, so I had to code tools to check balances from the ground.
Now I’m prepared and I will handle this kind of situations much better in the future.
I can’t say that we will never ever have problems again but I’m working every day on the code to get this exchange step by step better and better.

I know we have to work on our communication. You have to understand that it was not possible to give any ETA because it was not appreciable how long I would need to code the tools.
It is difficult in the team as well, because I am busy coding and I think it is better to get rid of every issue before I write news. We need to talk more internally, so that flo knows what he can announce and I can focus more on the code. But this will evolve soon and day by day we are getting more professional.
We will try to communicate on a higher frequency with you!

Now all is back to normal and we can continue to make this exchange a success.

If you have any suggestions, feel free to join us on the developer’s forum at alcurex.info

No it isn't yahoo and I don't have this problem with any other service.

According to the mails headers sent emails are delivered

Code:
Received-SPF: pass (mx7.o2.pl: domain of [email protected]
designates 107.170.57.232 as permitted sender)

I used to have this problem when I tried to register an account.
After couple of days I was able to register.
When I was already registered I could login without the PIN.
During and since the offline period I can't login anymore.
I get the PIN request and never get emails with PIN.
Whole around. Sad

Edit: Tonight first received email and successful login since the crash.
Good sign. Smiley

Hey guys,

alcurEX is live and can be used as before.
All balances are how they should, trading is enabled and you can deposit or withdraw your coins again.
I am really sorry for the day where we had to lock your coins.
This was necessary to assure that something like this cannot happen again.
halibit worked his ass off, he got no sleep in the last 24h and he need to rest for some time now!

He will write the detailed news tomorrow after he had some sleep.

If you have any additional questions then feel free to ask.

flo

I am still having the same issue.

"Security PIN sent.
Check your e-mail and enter PIN code here."

But I don't get the email and no, this is not in the spam folder...
re you using yahoo?
better use gmail or hotmail, its faster
i use yahoo and i get my confirmation/pin nearly instant.
marada, what provider do you use? could it be greylisting? ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greylisting )
if so maybe you can turn it off in mail provider options.

Some short info:

You have to wait only a few more minutes.
The balances were checked and everything looks promising.

There are only a few small tests before we can restart the exchange.
We want to be 100% sure that everything is working.

For this we will write more detailed news.

I'm not sure, but I think I saw more than 700 before last site update  Undecided

That's right, I saw this too. But some progress there, I now see my lost Deepcoins.
