Agree.  Kind of disappointed by lack of interest in this.

Niche sites devoted to Rand are fairly popular online.  A few (very) carefully crafted forum posts could possibly work well.  I'd imagine that crypto currency would be interesting to the Rand crowd.

I was also thinking faucets or games, but then on the other hand, giving away Galtcoin wouldn't necessarily fall in line with the philosophies that perhaps the coin is trying to embody.

Some bounties might make a lot of sense at this point.

Still, I will mine for now.  If only because I always thought that Dagney Taggart was super hot.  Just kidding... sort of. 

I see pretty low promotion :/ , I think that post about it in objectivist sites will be in some way useful... like in Galt's Gulch or so

We actually never allowed anyone access to the first 1000 blocks, we offered them mining and wallet information. Had anyone mined outside our small test network the nodes would have been shutdown.

The early adopter program didn't actually open mining to anyone. We were offering to get people's mining rigs setup to work correctly for the time we launched. For a price, that price was to recoup my costs and to give us a a little money to spend on advertising and marketing.

In reality we had one local friend who paid me the $50 early access for me to come over setup his wallet and write his batch file so he could mine when we were ready. Had anyone been mining besides our testing network we would have shut down our nodes. We also posted an open beta last week that opened mining to the general public. If you missed it or ignored it that's not our problem.

I just said it in general not specific to this thread. Here is the PM message that I received. It looks more like a template message since I am not a dev and I was just offering a service and had created a thread for that and within a few hours, I received this PM.

Since I have solo mined & pooled mined around 10,000 glt
it is in my interest that the coin is worth something on the exchange.
That is my only interest. I am not paid or bribed by anyone, if that
is what you are insinuating

Not necessarily devs. There are people who offer such services to increase post count for a thread and provide fake positive feedbacks. I had received a PM with one such offer here in bitcointalk.

also, sometimes plans change in the process of development.
they probably did not expect many people to mine their coin
but when pools & miners hopped on it, they said F__K it, lets

Honestly, i don't understand what all the fuss is about.
They didn't premine very many coins. I started solo mining when the
source code was like 2 days old. You had the same oppurtunity as I did to get on
this coin early. Why make such a big deal out of a small amount of coins?

But how does that explain the preann thread announcing early adopters only being able to mine 1000 blocks?? The dev just decided to ignore what i pointed out

50 coins  1000 blocks = 50,000 coins

he said it was for developing, rewards for testers and contributers, & giveways/promotions.

which is necessary for ANY coin to get promoted - you know that


50,000 isnt really much of a premine at all to do all of that....

Look at the # of premined coins of other alt-coins - maybe you should gripe to them
especially that COINo coin with over 2.2 Million premined - block reward for miners only 35 coins

Instead of wasting your time crying and complaining, you should be mining some instead!

I don't think even lites used testnet.  It's a solution, but not one we had any particular desire to use when nobody else does.

I started mining GLT last week when I saw it show up here as a new coin
I solo mined some, then I found a p2pool on that site and mined alot on that pool

so, do you consider us independent miners who solo & pool mined
part of the pre-mining?  I have nothing to do with the project.
I just like to mine new coins when possible, trying to get on
new coins before those big miners do.

If only there was a testnet to test on instead of using that as an excuse to premine

This is really a good coin!

I have compiled over 30 different alt-coin wallets from source code
and noticed alot of other coins embed HUGE premining in the source code...
1 coin's code was for 2,200,000 coins for block 1

for eample, the COINo coin --- here's the subsidy code starts at line 830 in main.cpp :

The galtcoin DOES NOT! Although a little premining is necessary for give-aways and promotions,
alot of coin developers probably keep most of the premined.

SO, THIS IS A GREAT COIN AND NO "BS" like the COINO coin i cited above!
Inspect the source code before criticizing a coin!


I support this coin - I think it is legit and also a very good idea.

There are 4 mining pools and the DIFFICULTY level of GLT has been increasing,
which indicates people are indeed mining it.

Although the dev. team said they didn't care about exchanges,
I think people should request that CRYPTSY ADD GLT - GaltCoin 

If someone starts an ADD GALTCOIN on the CRYPTSY FORUMS to REQUEST NEW COINS,
I will definitely vote for GLT     I'd like to see this coin on the exchange.
