Try this command: sudo apt-get install build-essential
does not help
Code:

I can not compile the modded CPU-Miner by dcct at Ubuntu 12.04 x64, I receive this:
Code:
g++ -Wall -Wextra -c -Winline -Wformat -Wformat-security -pthread --param max-inline-insns-single=1000 -lm -Wno-write-strings -march=native -O3 src/Stratum.cpp -o src/Stratum.o
src/Stratum.cpp: In static member function «static void Stratum::init(std::string*, std::string*)»:
src/Stratum.cpp:112:9: error: «connect» is not element of «boost::asio»
src/Stratum.cpp:112:9: warning: suggested alternatives:
/usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/sys/socket.h:129:12: warning:   «connect»
/usr/include/boost/asio/detail/impl/socket_ops.ipp:383:5: warning:   «boost::asio::detail::socket_ops::connect»
make: *** [src/Stratum.o] Error 1

That is surprisingly, but at Ubuntu 12.04 x86 it is successful done.
Also the official GapMiner did not compile with same error.

The compiled version says:
Code:
./gapminer: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.16' not found (required by ./gapminer)
./gapminer: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.17' not found (required by ./gapminer)

Can someone help with it?

Try this command: sudo apt-get install build-essential

what are the future plans for gapcoin?
is it possible to implement Stealth Address?
I believe the implementation of new features would help to attract new investors and mining. This also benefits amount of records that can break.
ps: sorry for my english.

For the near future, I think Gapcoin's main focus lies in science.

Theoretically Stealth Addresses could be implemented in Gapcoin.

Gapcoin is on github, so if you don't want to wait till I implement a feature,
you can just implement it yourself and submit a pull request.

Gapcoin is also already an organisation on github, so if you want, you could become a Gapcoin developer yourself Wink

https://github.com/gapcoin/gapcoin

Currently I think we should get more media attention,
We already have a good story about reaching the 13th place in the world record list within the first month.

I already wrote to some altcoin related news sites,
but i didn't got much responses till now.

thanks for the reply, unfortunately I am not a developer, without doubts gapcoin is a great contribution to science,
my questions were directed to see the possibility of even more amazing that currency.

Greetings!

Mining hardware comparison (outdated): http://gapcoin.org/hardware-comparison.php

.....

Is there a chance that this list will be updated with the latest miners: dcct cpu and the gpu miner?

I get 350k pps with an AMD Phenom II x6 1055t at stock clocks and 250k~275k with an AMD HD7970 at 1150/1500 clocks.

I agree that you need to upgrade. how to do it?

Yes, when enough people submit their new stats, I could delete the old ones

very powerful concept/coin indeed, not sure about now, but you could have entered AWS with n instances for few days and accumulate, it is now going to get much tougher, and in time much much more tougher, this coin if it continues has potential of seriously disrupting cryptology research (if it reaches certain scale) please look up concept of "rainbow tables"

from the economic perspective you have to be fool to sell right now, this in general applies to all crypto currencies across the board, you all have no idea (many do joking a bit) what you have on your hands.

have a great weekend

Seems like the dcct cpu miner performs better versus the gpu miner.

Yep but he said that the method he is using wouldn't really work on GPUs - guess that thought crossed a few minds Cheesy

I'm just mining this for fun...lol....

An old AMD Phenom II x6 1055t I'm using does 25%~50% better than my AMD HD7970...lol

Seems like the gpu miner isn't fully optimized yet and still uses a good amount of the cpu also.

Increased frequency in VGA possible is achieved greater speed. Two vga card R9 280X (300 000pps) + 7970 (330 000pps) (frequencies 1150/1500) , and one R9270x - 200 000 pps (frequencies 1170/1400).

Tried 1150/1500 on the HD7970 and not much of a boost in performance, about 276k....

I get ~350k with the AMD Phenom II x6 1055t.

I just started mining this today. Is it better to pool mine or solo mine at the moment? I'm pool mining at the moment.

Stay on pool...

i5-4460 runs at roughly 400k
i7-4770 at 800k
i7-920 at 400k

Using GPUs is wasted power.

Are those on the dcct cpu miner? I figure that the gpu miner isn't too efficient at the moment, but I just want to try it out anyways. If the gpu miner could do ~1,600k or higher on a 280x/HD7970, then it would be worth it.
