I guess the new cpu miner is not a good idea cause of botnets. It's a two sides of coin again.

And the difference of everyone mining with 10x speed vs 1x is eactly what?

Difference is that CPU-botnets is being profitable again and rise diffs. Or you think botnets is good ? Maybe only for the new Prime record...

Have you tried changing your threads to 1 instead of 20?  I'm not sure how the miner would react to this.  I don't think your system really has 20 CPU cores...

Sure I have tried! This was one of my first ideas. There was no reaction, it looked like exactly the same way as giving any other thread number: working fine, zero pps.
The only change was switching to solo mining - the GPU started working then... but at so low pps that I've decided to switch off and stay pool mining with CPUs. Anyway - I don't understand it. CPU has a bit better pps when solo mining, but I'm taking the risk of not-finding a block at all, okay it's clear. But the GPU works while solomining, and doesn't work at all when pool mining?

Barts is 67xx / 68xx AMD , I could not get a 6870(Barts) working and had similar results, maybe because they are legacy and missing something?
Things like this are possible, maybe the catalysts cause such things too. During folding with it for Curecoin I've experienced that this GPU didn't want to work under Mint 17 with new catalysts at all, and I had to use Mint 13 with old catalyst, and then it worked at level comparable to my other GPUs. Now tried the same, but the dependecy problem starts growing from package to package when using older system and I've gave up.

it is worth if a new miner released can support all GPUs run together (diff and GAP price at the moment)

There are more optimizations which can be leveraged into the miner making the existence of an even better miner more than plausible.

If you don't believe them, so be it, but no need to be nasty about it.

With optimization agree. I do not like when the flood on empty. Want to say that smart prove Smiley.

You are unable to provide any evidence that the logs are false - take your choice from a list of donation addresses below:

Dude, for real, did you expect to be welcomed if you come here and basically say "look, my miner is waaaay faster, but I'm not giving it to you, cause then this coin would be dead (for unknown reasons)"?  Grin

Just hilarious to see you get angry Wink Ok, I'll stop. We are fine here.

Some of us are here to break the record, and not using the fastest miner for this is a waste of energy and money. Some people will just stop mining. Or wasting energy. I don't think this is what you are aiming towards.

Don't mind him dcct. He doesn't even understand what are you talking to him, or he just pretends to.

Btw, Supercomputing and primer-, the best duo are here LOL.

No worries, I will help Gapcoin break the world record. I still need to optimize the GPU miner for Nvidia (Maxwell) with 2GB of VRAM. For now it only works on R9 cards with 3+ GB of VRAM.

If you can show evidence that the logs are false using the block explorer, then I will contribute 10,000 GAPs to be awarded to the miner who breaks the world record. But if you are unable to do so, then you have to contribute 10,000 GAPs to the fund. Fair enough, or are you going to now come up with some excuse like the rest?

Thats easy. You want to proof your miner exists - and is considerably faster. But all I see in your logs is public information anyone could extract from the blockchain. Not even if these blocks are yours.

And still you have to explain why your miner is "deadly" as you call it, and its speed wont be compensated by an increased difficulty.

You are unable to provide any evidence that the logs are false - take your choice from a list of donation addresses below:

The options are: halving the block reward

  • every 2 years (no changes, no hard fork)   GSJw8qfMBTrX1p9rRexuek4zXjb8ay3Nev
  • every year   GZHgCFHCwQYZhSqmGAJ7rKLYyo8fBEkgdj
  • every half year   GRNwEjBXhr3ccYV78LKRuzjt9howGVwx9c
  • every three months   GLjNmmTZiSxTyFHXAFBjXefmFNWUhTfXjk

Or reducing the block reward every block to effectively halve:

  • every 2 years   GU4oUgmeAC7T9DkgmrD1TjqcgHsdgXAhVU
  • every year   GHxr8JUNtaenHvrgqmt9oXTtZA8dA8DnBH
  • every half year   GRPwr2TiDNNBBUWa36os4Srppy4QdXxa9i
  • every three months   GKKcAv7UyJNLWsSPEwLRuYLBJjkRKvdp5k

The voting will end in one week (18.11.2014 10:00 PM UTC)

After the end of the voting, the funds of these addresses will be added to the
bounty for the first merit which breaks the world record.

GAP is dead, supercomputing abusing it with a private cpu/gpu miner, no volume on poloniex, several large botnets active...

I'll focus my CPU power on Riecoin, https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annric-riecoin-constellations-pow-cpu-hard-fork-successful-world-record-446703 , we are about to break world record in 5 days.

Supercomputing's posts have already been identified as FUD, I highly doubt such a miner exists. Even the logs he posted aren't real.

As you offer no proof for your claims "large botnet", "no volume", and you also have a negative Trust here, you wont be taken seriously.

If you can show evidence that the logs are false using the block explorer, then I will contribute 10,000 GAPs to be awarded to the miner who breaks the world record. No, the most logical explanation for the increased difficulty is that an individual in control of massive CPU power has decided to use it for Gapcoin mining. I am only interested in algorithmic breakthroughs and not financial profit. But I strongly believe that such a breakthrough may come from the mining community in general because of the financial incentives.

Primecoin, Riecoin, and Gapcoin all have the potential to provide the scientific community with a deeper understanding of prime numbers. And I hope that all these coins live long and prosperous lifes.

Notice I removed the --stratum and changed your thread count to 1 - this is the CPU threads for the overhead calculations.  I also changed the port # to the higher difficulty port to reduce stress on the pool.

Does the difficulty differ on each ports? Why some of you are setting higher threads number? I was setting 1 or no thread number at all... but still havn't solved my problem with 0 pps on GPU.

yes, port 4200 is the standard (low) difficulty for CPU.  4205 is slightly higher difficulty for windows GPU and 3385 is the stratum port.  As for 0 PPS - it sounds like your GPU(s) are not doing any actual work.  Are you seeing any errors when you start up the miner?  Maybe post a screenshot of the start-up output.

Your thread settings will depend on the core/thread count that your CPU can handle.  If you have a 4 core CPU and 4 GPUs then you want 1 core for each.  If you have an 8 core CPU, then you can increase this to 2 threads per GPU.  The GPU miner is still very CPU intensive, so you don't want to overload it.  I find that I can only support 2 GPUs on my linux miner - even though I have 4 cards Sad

hello, thank you, so it works similarly to folding when each gpu needs some cpu
this is the output, no errors at all, I'm running with extra-verbose option:
Code:

The GPU miner is still very CPU intensive
I've stopped all other processes that use more than few percents CPU, and, yes, gpu miner uses a lot of cpu: one core and a half of second core. GPU load 90%, but still zeroes

EDIT: I've managed to make my GPU work... but only solo, it can't work with the pool. But... solo mining my one CPU has about 60,000 pps and GPU only 3,000 LOL
