So I logged onto Counterparty to send a small amount of coins to my app wallet but it brought up a question.
Ok I can send to my app wallet but surely I need or at least will want to see my gems wallet account showing in counterparty. How can I put my app wallet as one of my wallet showing in counterparty?

You are able so see how many Gemz you sent to your off-chain address using blockscan or coindaddy

I don't need to see the transaction I want the Gems offline wallet to show so I can see the balance. Can I not do this now.
I think you can check the off-chain balance only from the app. See previous posts about on-chain and off-chain

I kind of feared that would be the case. Shame as it would be good to see the wallet within counterparty even if it was just a mirror of your app wallet you couldn't actually send from. I asked cause I saw a tab for watch only address and wondered if this did it before I played around with it.

Update: I got a bit adventurous and deiced to make this watch only address. So basically it let me input my gems app actual address and label it as my gems wallet. All seems ok and it shows it as a watching wallet. BUT it said as it created it that the address is ALREADY in my wallet so I'm now wondering if there was another way to reveal it?

You can also add your GEMZ off-chain address as a watch only address in counterwallet

Quick question, i recently upgraded my gems app from an older version. My bitcoin balance remained the same, but my gems balance is now at 0. Is this a common problem, or is it just me?

This isn't a bug. Introducing off-chain support meant that GEMZ and BTC addresses are now different. The app only displays the GEMZ you have in your off-chain address.

[NOTE: Your existing In-App GEMZ will need to be transferred to the off-chain address using https://counterwallet.io/ for the GEMZ to be displayed by the App. Simply go to your online wallet which holds GEMZ and transfer to the address provided by your app. You can copy the GEMZ address to your clipboard and then paste it into an email sent to yourself, or use Telegram on the desktop and paste it into a message from within GetGems].

Got it, Thank you

ehh...i think we need to clarify this on-chain and off-chain thingy. Sooo...let me get this straight:
On-chain = counterwallet.io
Off-chain = Getgems App
Correct? let me know.

Correct. [A good example in order to understand the on-chain/off-chain mechanism is to think of how poloniex works, you send "real" gemz and get "credit" gemz inside their platform. At anytime you are able to do a withdraw (counterparty transaction) and get the "real" gemz back to an address you control].

Then next question:
on which one of the above must i store my GEMZ to get the airdrop? Do i store it on the Getgems App to get the airdrop or on the counterwallet.io to get the airdrop?

Right now it doesn't matter were current gemz are stored because we still haven't added the multiplayer to the beta Airdrop mechanism yet.

Daniel,
I've invited at least 10 people, but my Referral score is 0. Do you count referrals from previous months?

We'll  look into it - Sent you a PM
[Its important to note that each unique user (phone number) has only one original inviter]

Hi Daniel, just registered to post this, I'm having the same problem with referrals. I've referred a few people but 0 shows up in the app.

We're working to fix the bug. Thank you for reporting!

I didnt really follow the whole off/on chain conversation on this thread. So if you have a large amount of Gems what is the best thing to do? What are the negatives about having coins on the off chain wallet? Same level of security? Do we need to be on the offchain wallet to gain airdrop coins?

GEMZ on-chain will always be more secured than GEMZ off-chain. Users with large amounts of GEMZ shouldn't hold all of their GEMZ off-chain for security purposes. In order to accommodate these users, we plan to add a feature that allows connecting other wallet addresses to your username in order to influence airdrop calculations. Each existing address would be able to be connected to a single GetGems username, so only a single account will be able to receive credit for the contents of this wallet. These wallet addresses will not be used when sending/receiving GEMZ, only for airdrop calculations. We are also thinking of other possible methods to achieve this in the most efficient and user friendly way.

We recommend to look at the mobile wallet the same way you look at your physical pocket wallet. Your pocket wallet is different than your bank account. You will usually hold day-to-day spending money in your wallet, but keep the bulk of your savings in your bank account. The recommended practice is to keep a relative low number of GEMZ in your mobile wallet, and use if for sending to friends. If you own a significant amount of GEMZ, it’s a good idea to hold it in a different wallet which is harder to access and easier to secure.

Thankyou Daniel.

Ok I think I got it then. So until this added feature you mention, coins held in a safer on line wallet actually wont be counted toward the airdrop, right?

Right, we started the Airdrop beta stage and are working on improving the mechanism plus adding the feature you mention above.

Ok. But today, for the airdrop calculations, my gems must stay in the off-chain wallet or can remain in the on-chain wallet (where they actually are, ie in my counterwallet)?
For the current Airdrop Beta we are only testing the referral of active users mechanism.
