Is the planning for Portal launch: End of February still on?

It would be much better if all GreenCoin supporters and holders would restrain from offering and selling GreenCoin for less than 10 sat.
If you look at https://www.coinexchange.io/market/GREV2/BTC there have been no trades for 10 days, eventhough some are offering GreenCoin for only 1 sat.
Better for the future of GreenCoin to up everything and hold the bottom salesline at 10 sat.

Forgive me for repeating myself, but please limit the new coin production as soon as possible.
It can not be that complicated or expensive to have the code changed into creating 4 coins instead of 4,000 coins per stake?
And at the same time divide the current total coin amount by 1,000 (or divide by 100 if you prefer to keep more coins available)?
It is the only way to give GreenCoin a fair chance to take off and start growing.

I like this project, the only thing I have a problem with is the coin supply. 50-100 million would be ideal.  Wink
simply think about it as trading in 1M coin blocks. For example, currently there's ~100M GRE being offered for 1 satoshi at coinexchange.

So 1 BTC = 100M GRE, 10 mBTC = 1M GRE, etc...

It's sort of funny (in a sad way) that after 2.5 years the entire ecosystem is barely worth $27k. It would be really funny if the idea ever ended up taking off and growing. You never know

Lol, people never cease to amaze in crypto.  I see somebody's momma never taught them....if ya ain't got nothing nice to say.

Definitely some great points made by digi!

Agree the coin has been hurting for more producer sign ups for a long time, hope the plans and changes in the process help get that kicking again Chris.  Wish more people would have taken notice in this project long ago, seems like the small interest has made is difficult to keep talent around to handle some of the technical development.  You're a man with a BIG dream here brother, but def need the developer on board to match that enthusiasm.

Hey Jim, happy tidings brother. Thanks for being a big support all these years now Grin We've got the Big Dog Dev on board now, see a few posts back where I posted the new portal screenshot.

Timeline:
Portal launch: End of February
Full launch: Mid March
  • The portal launch is to simplify the sign-up process and substantially upgrade the personal homepage and user experience. It may include automatic meter readings for those that have online systems with APIs.
  • Full launch is integration with a 3rd party company that acts as an online wallet and carbon education ownership benefit home base. Non-producers can sign up here and early on it'll also have a faucet so new users can have a taste of what owning coins (carbon!) feels like and what it means. This also helps side-steps a lot of the growth issues we have that people simply will not interact with the wallet client, which is admittedly hard to use and "techie."

Disclaimer:
I'm buying a few coins to up my % at the exchange now, for full disclosure (note, I personally am not, and never have in the past, selling or sold any coins).

SAWEEET music to my ears....awesome news man!  Especially the big dog dev...yay:-)

Ya man, I haven' had much time for crypto the past couple years but I kept the faith brother one day your vision with all of this would see the light.  Still the 1st "supporter" of Green and will be there with the last of em!

Greencoin is a coin with a mission. It is certainly not futile.

Probably you mean its value which is indeed futile at the moment.
The solution for the futile value would be to lower the amount of coins being staked.
Now we have approx. 1,000,000,000 new coins a year (!) without a coin cap as stated 2 posts above.

If the new coins staked would i.e. be lowered from 4,000 to only 2 coins, then it would become possible for Greencoin to see its marketvalue rise and become more interesting for producers and traders.

Currently every day almost 3,000,000 new greencoins join 2,700,000,000 already existing greencoins without value.
There is no chance value will ever rise if the new coin production isn't lowered radically.

IMHO it is much better suitable for a Greencoin to produce a minimal new amount of coins instead of producing an abundance of coins, the latter being more suitable for a throw-away-society.
Why not make it 2 coins per stake; 1 coin generated to the staking address, 1 coin generated to the foundation for renewable payouts?
And at the same time divide the existing coins by 1,000, so the coins in circulation become a total of 2,700,000

It would be better for Greencoin to create less new coins in order to have a fair chance of becoming a coin of value.

exchange is having trouble syncing.

this is an issue due to the forking that occurred starting with the staking problem that first manifested itself around 5/15. I know if you close and reopen the client it gets back on track. I've had to do it a dozen or so times for a single blockchain download.

I'm wondering if it would be helpful to post a bootstrap.dat file somewhere to help with the syncing.  I think it just takes someone renaming the blk0001.dat file and posting it somewhere.  I believe the file gets processed again and verified by the current nodes so it is safe to use and should help people get past the forks.  (Please correct me if this is incorrect information).

To re-cap the issue is the blockchain simply stops downloading despite being connected to peers.

the bush league fix is to stop the client and re-start it. I wiped the roaming folder clean (windows) and downloaded a new blockchain twice. The first time it took 10 restarts (the first one happening at block 92,500 or so, which is May 15th). By block 161,9xx it did not require any restarts.

the second time I ran it with the -debug flag and for some reason it only needed to be restarted twice (the first time at block 93,145 and another around block 200,000).

Both times I eventually got the client back to the proper block height though.

trouble because...? if unable to gain stable access to the blockchain I would be happy to 'addnode' their wallet

? which exchange are you talking about?

About the one cranky4u posted a link to.

Cryptopia has been around for about 2~3 years. It is a New Zealand based exchange that has a solid, full time crew. It is a registered business that offers stock options and term deposits...as for the exchange itself, they have trading, arbitrage, pool mining and a market place.

***Disclaimer*** I do not have shares in Cryptopia

https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/cryptopia/

They have very low volume considering the amount of time they've been around. I also can't find an official announcement for them here or any information of support, etc.

Well let's chuck that in the too hard basket as well....
