Yeah, because of the earlier mockups I thought Datum was mainly about social media data.

In the whitepaper they say something about DSensor SenseMaking. I just checked the website:

Dsensor uses Peer to Peer technology to apply the scientific method to data collected from sensors.

That makes it a bit more interesting to me than just Facebook and Google data.

Really nice that there is an alpha released. Its really important for investors to start to see some features and product about the project. And a beta version for December, really good, I think the datum ico will have a great sucess.
