Why classic antiviruses (AVs) don’t work

Malware is evolving at an extremely fast pace: around 4 new malware samples are produced every second worldwide and there are over 750 million of them today.

How the classic AV combats malware?
When a new virus is detected, it is sent to the malware analytic laboratory. It means the attack has already taken place.
The malware analysts study the sample, make a signature for it and place it to the database. Sometimes this process takes a couple of hours, sometimes weeks.
The database finally gets to the endpoints. The endpoints should be protected from now on.

What are the disadvantages?
The protection is done post factum, when the malware has already caused irreparable damage.
While the protection is being developed, hundreds of new samples appear worldwide, meaning endpoints are actually never secure. WannaCry and NonPetya have confirmed that.

Blockchain technology

As a rule of thumb, a user doesn’t know how a virus got to their computer, what the cause was and how the attack was repelled. T-Mobile Hacked — 2 Million Customers' Personal Data Stolen🆘

T-Mobile today confirmed that the company suffered a security breach on its US servers that may have resulted in the leak of "some" personal information of up to 2 million T-Mobile customers.
