Dear Smart Containers Community
We hope you had a good start to the new year.
COVID-19 continues to dominate our agendas also at Smart Containers. Please find hereafter an update on the company's progress in the fourth quarter of 2020.
While first vaccines have been approved and produced, operations to administer them are ramping up – with initial challenges using some of our competitors. Some countries such as Israel are well prepared and already succeeded to vaccinate a good part of their population, while other countries struggle to deliver these precious goods in good conditions to where they are required. Several countries had to throw away parts of the vaccine due to temperature excursion and bad information flow.
Vaccinating the whole world is a mammoth task. And this is where SkyCell comes into play: As you know the temperature ranges served by SkyCell are +2 to +8°C and +15 to +25°C. However, some of the novel COVID-19 vaccines need a transportation and storage temperature of -80°C to -20°C. These temperatures can mostly be reached by dry ice. However, since dry ice produces CO2, the amount of dry ice accepted in airplanes is strongly limited, hence reducing the capacity of vaccines transportation.
SkyCell introduces game changing new deep frozen container – The 1500DF
At SkyCell, we are always striving for safer and more efficient ways to transport life-saving medicines around the world. With this mission in mind, our passionate team of engineers has developed a revolutionary new container: The SkyCell 1500 DF (Deep Frozen).
SkyCell’s new deep frozen solution is capable of maintaining a steady temperature of minus 60° Celsius to minus 80° Celsius, while only requiring 100kg of dry ice – significantly less than existing solutions. Thus, more than 1.75 million vials can be transported in a single aircraft. This is enough to vaccinate up to 8.75 million people with the first vaccination, based on existing vaccine concentration per vial. Compared to commonly used solutions, this increases the loading capacity per flight by up to 10 times.
Through this major breakthrough, more containers can be loaded on airplanes and vaccines can be distributed faster.
Currently, many countries and hospitals do not have deep frozen storage capabilities due to the high cost of ultra-cold freezers. To tackle this shortage, SkyCell’s new deep frozen container can be used as storage at the destination – including at a mobile hospital or vaccination camp. The independent runtime of 120h can be extended on site as required with the easy reloading of dry ice.
Manufacturing of the 1500DF containers began in December, with first 100 leaving the factory in the course of January. With the help of key airline partners around the world, SkyCell will help transport on average 50 containers per aircraft, holding around 30,000 vials per container, depending on the aircraft’s dry-ice regulations.
Consortium of Hope
SkyCell has become part of the establishment of the Hope Consortium – a neutral platform that offers the scalable solution to reach emerging markets in best-in class quality. It represents a complete end-to-end global supply chain solution with the goal to facilitate the distribution of over 1.8 billion COVID-19 vaccines by end of 2021 (although this may change depending on the availability of vaccines).
Comprising of leading global entities including Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health, Abu Dhabi Ports Group, Rafed UAE (the healthcare purchasing arm of Abu Dhabi-based ADQ) and Etihad Cargo, the Hope Consortium aims to offer a complete supply chain solution to address vaccine transport, demand planning, sourcing, training, and digital technology infrastructure, and facilitate vaccine availability across the world.
The Hope Consortium deploys SkyCell’s containers to transport the crucial and extremely sensitive COVID-19 vaccines. Our hybrid containers, which are secured through an IoT monitoring service, track temperature conditions to ensure sensitive vaccines are protected even under extreme conditions. With efficient insulation and cutting-edge cooling technology, our containers maintain steady temperatures for an average of 202 hours (8.4 days) and with the possibility to prolong the runtime through automatic self-recharging in cooling chamber or reefer truck.
Our hybrid containers will safeguard the full efficacy of vaccines that are vital to defeat the pandemic, all while reducing long-term business and environmental costs. The Hope Consortium has the right partners, infrastructure and service ecosystem to ensure time and temperature sensitive transportation in a seamless cool chain operation.

https://monocle.com/radio/shows/the-globalist/2379/vaccine-logistics/ Token Swap Update We are happy to report that almost all contributors to our ICO have swapped their SMARC tokens into dividend rights certificates. The original certificates are held in escrow for you by Smart Containers Group. Most of the participants have received a copy of their certificates as pdf by email. The ones that are still pending have been contacted individually about missing elements to complete the process.
The company maintains a registry of all dividend rights certificate holders with their credentials. This registry together with the dividend right certificate certify the ownership of the dividend rights certificates and allows us to communicate with all of our dividend right certificates holders when required. Please make sure your data is up to date. If you change address, name, email address, please inform us on
[email protected].
Next steps
Today, we are executing the USDT payout for the fractional tokens that have not been swapped into dividend certificates rights (bundles of 750 SMARC tokens). Basically, every bundle of 750 tokens has been transformed into a dividend rights certificate while the remaining SMARCS (
As communicated, the payout price for these fractional tokens has been set at 0.08 CHF. Converted in USDT the amount will be at 0.09 USDT. You have indicated ERC-20 addresses during the swap process in the Smart Containers App. We will pay out the USDT’s amounts to these addresses.
The final step, as layed out in the token swap agreement of our de-tokenization process is underway, with all assets of Smart Containers Group transferred into a new legal entity called S+C Group AG, including all dividend rights certificates. As mentioned, this prepares us for solid legal grounds for a future strategic sale or IPO. In essence, the “token history” of Smart Containers will be left behind with this step. As laid out in the token swap agreement, the dividend rights certificates of Smart Containers Group will be changed into dividend rights certificates with identical rights of S+C Group AG. Every certificates holder will receive a new pdf in February with a copy of these new certificates as pdf. Apart from this, everything remains the same. The brand “Smart Containers” continues to exist and the website/email contacts will remain unchanged. Only the legal entity behind the swap will switch from Smart Containers Group AG to S+C Group AG.
