Latium was recently endorsed by Marketplace http://www.marketplace.org/

For 25 years, Marketplace has been providing public radio listeners with the most up-to-date and unbiased information about economics and investing. If you are on twitter, please reach out to https://twitter.com/Marketplace and https://twitter.com/@Marketplacetech to say thank you for their recent article.

Five alternatives to Bitcoin
If the dark and shadowy world of Bitcoin isn't dark and shadowy enough, here are some alternatives. But, Schmidt says to keep in mind that most cryptocurrencies are basically variations on a theme. There's an algorithm involved and typically only a set number of coins.

Darkcoin. The darker currency that values privacy. Its website says it's secure, decentralized and anonymous.
Zerocash. This currency, still in the works, is a collaboration from MIT, Johns Hopkins and Tel Aviv University. Its makers say that Bitcoin has a privacy problem – payments can still be traced to users and every transaction is publicly available for everyone to see. Stay tuned!
Aurora coin. A currency specifically for the people of Iceland.  It works like Bitcoin, but because Iceland ran into so much  (ahem) trouble during the last financial crisis, it's not allowed to engage in mining invisible currency.
Latium.  The website for this new cryptocurrency says it's a new dawn, plus it's giving away coins free.
Dogecoin. It has a cute dog for an icon and its tagline is "favored by Shiba Inus worldwide." It also has a NASCAR sponsorship.

Latium is limited to one registration per household. You may register family and friends but only if they don’t reside in the same house. Any registration from the same house will result in all associated accounts being permanently banned!

Latium has taken numerous precautions to ensure that fraudulent claims for free Latium are not accepted. We understand that no fraud-protection system is going to be 100% perfect in either effectiveness or user availability. However, these steps are taken to retain the value of the coin and the integrity of the system. Our fraud protection team monitors registrations very carefully.

Our advice: find another household to claim your 5 FREE Latium from.

@Parazyd

From the Latium FAQ:

When I withdrawal from my profile to my wallet, how long does it take to be credited to my wallet?

Processing time on withdrawals varies but can take up to 72 hours from withdrawal requests. Latium will be working to automate withdrawals in the near future. This automation should dramatically reduce withdrawal times.

Be patience...

Latium has recently updated its fraudulent activity procedures. These safeguards were taken to protect the Latium system from duplicate signups, false referrals and unwarranted payouts to fraudulent users. Latium is continually working to protect the value of Latium coins as well as the hard work that our authorized users have put towards spreading the word about Latium. The legitimacy of the Latium system is of the highest importance to us and we will continue to work diligently to ensure that all participants in the Latium system are properly rewarded for their efforts.
