Also it is clear to everyone that you are doing a great job in answering each and every question with merit. Appreciate the effort.

Thank you very much. Smiley

i loss my lisk on http://login.lisk.io
where are they??  Huh Huh

The whole Lisk network is currently running in a testnet, which gets reset from time to time. That means these LISK you owned are only testnet LISK.

The last reset of the network was on the 10th February when we introduced Lisk v0.1.1. As it was mentioned in the blog post.

Quote
Please note: With the release of 0.1.1, we have reset the testnet, so any previous balances will be gone. To receive more LISK, please use our faucet.

Once Lisk is officially launched this obviously will not be the case anymore. We will work with blockchain milestones in the future, which removes the need for resets. We are familiar with this update procedure, however it takes a bit longer to implement with each update. Therefore we are resetting the testnet at the moment with every update, to allow faster development.

You can use our faucet again in order to get some LISK and play around with our client.

This can be a shock when you enter a passphrase into the wallet and see a zero balance when there shouldn't be one. I've had it happen to me a number of times. It has always been a case of a typo in the passphrase, usually either an extra space at the end from doing a copy and paste or an incomplete selection of the text string from the copy and paste. Double click only selects characters up to the next common delimiter character, so ".", "@", "$", and other special characters can be easily left behind if they are the beginning or end of the passphrase when selecting it with double click.

Also check to see it the Lisk address with the 0 balance is the same as the one associated with your passphrase.
thank bro,
my lisk is a testnet  Grin

We bow in its aura
So I did my research. Fundamentals are solid. Looking forward to updates, and will probably participate in ICO.

As I understand it, the fact that a) Lisk uses Javascript for DAPP development and b) Lisk DAPPS will each run on their own sidechain, are 2 great advantages of Lisk over Ethereum.  Are there other advantages?  And to be fair and balanced, what about disadvantages of Lisk vs. Ethereum?

Also, are DAPP sidechains secured by the Lisk network, or do the sidechains need to have their own block signers?

Thanks in advance.  Very exciting project!

Advantages:

- Lisk offers a whole package for dapps, i.e. frontend and backend. That means you also have a decentralized hosted frontend of the dapp instead of accessing it through a centralized server which is often the case at Ethereum. (see: Gnosis & Augur)

- Not so sure about Ethereum here, but Lisk runs on all devices. On a 9$ C.H.I.P. or a Raspberry Pi. And this is enough to secure Lisk AND several sidechains! I also had it running on a 64MB VPS once.

- Our client, I hope you saw it. In comparison to Ethereum we have a GUI developed and maintained by the core team. It will always have the latest features and is really simple to use.

- Inbuilt Dapp Store which lists all available dapps on the network and will be enhanced greatly in the future.

Differences:

- While Ethereum is a smart contract platform, Lisk is a dapp platform. That means at Ethereum you can only develop single smart contracts which costs real ETH for every step, and you need to combine several contracts to form one dapp.

- You can only develop the dapp backend on Ethereum, on Lisk you can develop the whole package (see above) of frontend and backend.

Disadvantages:

- At Lisk you can't develop smart contracts which are always being performed by all miners on the network.

- Headstart of Ethereum and we don't have a Vitalik. Smiley

One other question.  Have you secured any exchanges for Lisk to trade on after launch?  Thanks.

We are public since two weeks and have generated quite a buzz already. I'm sure we will be listed on several ones soon after the launch. We will actively pursue this 1-2 weeks into the ICO. Smiley

To name a few we definitely will contact:

- Poloniex
- Bittrex
- BTC38

Very interesting and useful post. Thanks for this info, Max.

Looks interesting.  Javascript development reminds me of NXT

What would be the ico price of LISK in terms of BITCOIN & ETHEREUM?

It's not possible to calculate this ahead. Please read our ICO blog posts.

My team and I have been working on an exchange and we're definitely considering adding LISK into the exchange.

Why not build the exchange as a dapp and trustless? This would directly be a huge USP and would catapult you to the top of decentralized exchanges over night. Wink

Won't they need Lisk to start buying Lisk then? Haha
Yes it would be great indeed though, I may start a project like that right after I finish Dust

Which is after I finish understanding the app's code

Yes, but you could also implement a custom token.

However the best is of course to use x LISK for one transfer. This will create a big incentive for the sidechain forgers and will probably make you LISK rich if the exchange gets popular. Smiley

Is that already possible now?

Yes, I was thinking of that too. I for one would rather use Lisk itself..
I've got many ideas which I intend to develop on once I finish Dust and move on to new DApps on Lisk Smiley

Yes, that would be already possible now. However, such a dapp is a lot of work. So it's not a matter of hours to program this. Wink

Where are the ICO details? From the OP it starts in a few days, but no info yet? Will you guys have a forum member escrow or an exchange?

If it's hard to find the ICO details I will update the OP today. You can find all information on our blog.

Is the signature campaign giveaway only for full, senior, hero, and legendary members? Most of those members are already in long running signature campaigns and won't want to lose their spots. Most of the signature campaigns with good payouts are now full and it can take months to get back in for someone who loses his spot.

Everyone can participate.

Thanks, I have updated my signature, but I can't fit the whole full member signature in. I trimmed it down and only have 11 spare characters left after putting the link in.  Is my signature OK to register for the giveaway or should I change something in it?

It's ok. If it's possible make it bold.

Thank you very much. Smiley
