I downloaded and installed the latest version of the wallet. It looks much more attractive than the old versions and I found many useful and convenient functions in it.  I really liked the links to exchanges and social accounts - it's very convenient!

There is one question that confused me. My balance is displayed correctly, but I do not have new addresses (it looks like this: 3QJmnh). What actions should I take to convert old ones?

Soon everyone will update to new format and all will be fine. It is very good that we change it, less problems in the future.

That's still a great project and with great prospects for the future. I think this is now worth buying a coin for storage for a long time.

Is anyone updated their wallet already?

Can someone tell me where can I find the private keys in the official wallet of bitcore? Because I didn't given with any private keys while I installed it.

So I recognized that the blockchain explorer
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/btx/address.dws?1xxx....
shows a zero balance on the old 1xxx address

when converting the old 1xxx address to the new BTX p2pkh address (2xxx) using the following URL
https://limxtec.github.io/btx-convert/

and then inserting that new address into the blockchain explorer, it shows the correct balance
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/btx/address.dws?2xxx....

this is independent whether you already upgraded your wallet to the new version.

As explained on https://bitcore.cc/important-update-bitcore-public-keys/, the private key does not change, regardless of the wallet version used.

Looks like a simple guide. Thanks. Smiley

Can I run the legacy wallet and the new format wallet on the same computer side by side?

Yes. You need to change the P2P Port and the RPC Port for one of your wallets in the bitcore.conf file, like:
Code:
#bitcore.conf 1
port=8555
rpcport=18555

#bitcore.conf 2
port=8556
rpcport=19555

Also, while starting those wallets you want to specify what the Data Directory for those wallet has to be, like:
Code:
#Wallet one:
$ bitcore-qt -datadir=/home/user/.bitcoredata1

#Wallet two:
$ bitcore-qt -datadir=/home/user/.bitcoredata2

You can save the custom configure files in those Data Directories, when you launch those wallets it will read the bitcore.conf from the custom Data Directories.

Thanks. That was what I needed to know.

Just to comfort people:

I upgraded my wallet to 0.15.1.0 and I did keep my wallet.dat
(I did not need to restore, upgrade was done using my existing wallet.dat)

As my exchange (Bit-Z) does not yet support the new public key format, I transferred some BTX from my exchange account to the old format 1xxx public key.

The expected amount (minus withdrawal fee) arrived in my QT BitCore BTX wallet Version 0.15.1.0 under the new public key format 2xxx. As verified in recent transaction list and blockchain explorer.

So for true hodlers, I see no reason why one should not upgrade to version 0.15.1.0, even if your exchange does not yet support the new address format.

Can I upgrade my wallet in the future, like 1-2 years from today?

I am a long term holder, I've been holding for over 6 months, I have not open since the day I created it and added bitcore funds to it. I only check my balance when needed via https://chainz.cryptoid.info/btx/ knowing it's still there  Tongue and recently I checked my converted address since the old address is empty.

Thanks all in advance  Cool

We are all mid-term holders because none of us holds BTX since more than 3 years. Many of us will eventually become long-term holders in the year 2020.

As the BTX coins are "stored" in the blockchain and not really in your wallet, my take is that you could still upgrade your wallet software in 1-2 years, as long as you have your private keys.

So make sure you have a backup of that wallet.dat on a cold store (i.e. USB stick in bank safe), encrypt your desktop wallet, and write down that wallet encryption password (also place that one in bank safe).

As soon as the "new" wallet is out of beta, I'll upgrade - thanks for your mails.
Finally, the developers heard us, appeared something working, the new wallet is synchronized very quickly in light mode. I'm waiting for the final version.

Can I run the legacy wallet and the new format wallet on the same computer side by side?
This is not confirmed by the devs, but I do it and it works so far.
