We’re excited to announce our latest community driven update: Memetic (MEME), a rebrand of PepeCoin (PEPE).  While we all love Pepe and some of you will be disappointed that we’re taking the focus away from him, we think this will ensure longevity of our blockchain by reaching a broader audience.  Our long term goal was to always build an artist supported catalog of all memes, not just our beloved Pepe.  
 
Along with the branding change, we’re also delivering several needed fixes and upgrades that will be detailed below.
 
Rebrand and expansion:
 
Many of you may have seen the conversations unfolding at Bittrex.  They regarded us as a joke coin or worse, a pump and dump scam.  This is not the case but we can see why a casual observer might think so.  Instead of trying to convince Bittrex with just words, or spamming them on Slack and Twitter, we sat in our lab thinking about ways to highlight our technology and roadmap, while still keeping the fun of memes.  
 
This temporary setback became a blessing in disguise.
 
Memetic captures our plan to support all memes, not just Pepe.  Our current and in-development blockchain technology can easily support the entire memeverse  The broader scope provides the potential to attract a larger group of enthusiasts whether they are veterans of crypto or completely new but from other areas of the internet.
 
Bittrex's high standards and focus on quality, while we feel was too broadly applied to the Pepe concept, did make us realize we could reach a larger market and communicate our overall goals through a rebrand.
 
Technical Updates and Fixes

The stake system is designed to reward holders based upon these held amounts.

0 - 10,000 will be paid 3% yearly

10,000 - 50,000 will be paid 4% yearly

50,000 - 100,000 will be paid  5% yearly

100,000 will be paid  6% yearly

Proof of Meme through burning




Additionally, there will be another in wallet feature that will be used for the submission of written content to the chain.  Memetic will have an easy to use interface for timestamping your meme image.  The content will be hashed and only the hash is stored in the Memetic blockchain.  The hash is turned into a Memetic address, to which a small payment is sent.  The addresses used for meme proofing are unspendable, therefore every use of this feature "burns" Memetic coins.  You will be able to then prove that the image was made prior to the block that contains the payment made to the generated address.  Memetic will be producing easy to use interfaces both in the wallet and on the web to make adoption and use of this feature streamlined and easy.

Decentralized meme storage through IPFS technology:


The Memetic team is currently evaluating the suitability of IPFS and various integration scenarios that would bring the possibility of also storing your original rare meme on a decentralized peer to peer file system.

Chain Message wall:


Memetic will also implement a message wall feature in the wallet, with an easy to use function where for a small fee in Memetic (that is burned) users can write a message to the blockchain and have it display in the feed. These 3 features will form the platform of the next technical update phases.

One of the team is also working with a few product distributors, including a made to order clothing supplier to build an ecommerce store for merchandise, caffeine and other supplements, a small smoke shop  and general dank gear. Memetic coin will be exclusively accepted here.

We will be hosting a T shirt design contest with the community, we will reveal a few designs of our own and would love for the community to get involved. A prize will be paid in Memetic to the winner. We’re looking forward to all the laughs and dank memes!


Microsoft Azure:

Memetic is also producing the required artifacts for integration on the Azure Blockchain-as-a-Service platform for deployment of Memetic nodes on Azure with just a few clicks



We’re excited to deliver this update to the community. Though we’ve been working hard, we’ve also hanging out in various communities and hearing your passion for the project.  All of the tweets and Pepe images supporting our project is evidence that we all have a long future in store.  The list of technical features is a very small segment of what is currently being discussed with the team, and we hope to be listed on our desired exchange to support the continued growth of our community, and our innovative technology.
