For be sure that all chain update correctly, you need to compile the wallet with UPnP option setted properly. What about a pool, Does the community need another pool for ensure a decentralized hashpower?

I'm on Windows 8.1, I opened the port when needed and the mitocoin.conf file is in /appdata/mitocoin
it is usually created in appdata/roaming/mitocoinlike you already excuted mitocoin find the folder that the executable create usually in the folder mentioned before and there paste your conf file,
