Doesn't really matter anyway. In a few years credit cards, debit cards, etc. will be useless. Digital will be digital and will encompass everything. No physical anything except your phone to conduct all transactions. And DNotes will be the leader in all of this!!

Seriously though, Its coming and getting closer each day, crypto digital transaction as mainstream. The credit card company's will resist for sure and do all the can do to stall it, but with all the fraud, massive hackings etc.. getting out of hand, it makes digital look like a pretty good alternative. ( not to mention the fee's and interest) Definitely time for a new means of doing business differently.

Lets all just hope that this coin... Dnotes, will be a top contender and or at least be pioneering new ideas and applying them in a practical way into real world everyday uses. Needless to say Dnotes is well on its way to doing just that.  Wink

Tracking your location by your cell phone to prevent fraud does seem a bit too intrusive. It will be interesting to see how fraud protection evolves, it is such a huge issue.

Location-tracking as a means of ranking risk exposure for fraud has been considered as an additional layer of security for sometime. At least for now, customers are given the choice to opt in or stay out. “The feature is optional and can be deactivated at any time.” We are already being tracked much more than we have been told anyway.

To me this is just another bandage over a gapping hole. It helps but far from being a viable solution to a serious structural problem. Our bank and financial system, as well as the credit and debit card network payment systems are costly and outdated, but above all, cannot conduct business without our personal data. They must know and be able to verify who we are. Multiple intermediaries are involved in the storage, transmission and verification of our information. Personal data has been stolen by the tens of millions. “Criminals can take stolen credit card information and code it onto a new card using equipment that can be readily purchased online. Counterfeit cards look like any other credit card, but have someone else's information on the magnetic stripe.”

Digital currency like DNotes, on the other hand does not require any personal data. It can be as simple as having two cellular phones, or computer systems with an internet link to send or receive funds. It does not require, transfer, or keep any personal data and the two parties do not need to know or trust each other to successfully complete the transaction, at little to no cost.

There is no doubt that DNotes will one day be superior to fiat currency. Taking our time to build a solid structure is the only way to accomplish a vital mission.

Yes, I agree it is another bandaid. Instead of location-tracking, any credit card should be linked to 2FA like cryptocurrency. You want to make a purchase you swipe and then enter your 2FA. Boom, done. A hassle some might say, but no 2FA no sale. Easy. You can have all my data you want but you don't have my phone you don't buy anything.

Doesn't really matter anyway. In a few years credit cards, debit cards, etc will be useless. Digital will be digital and will encompass everything. No physical anything except your phone to conduct all transactions. And DNotes will be the leader in all of this!!

Here is an interesting diversion:

https://changemoney.org/

There are numerous display options, use the filters to see where the money is going.

Nice visualization. Interesting to see how many transactions are sent within the same country verse outside of the country.

I'll return now to quietly reading the thread, but a parting thought:

I remain unashamedly adherent to a range of basic left values -- like opposing sexism. However, the left has (overall) robbed its adherents of self-reliance. And we need self-reliance. Actually, by the look of what's on the horizon, we're gonna need a lot of self-reliance!

So let's work on the premise that: whatever goals you want to achieve ('political' or otherwise), a heaped-high wagon-load of self-reliance/discipline/energy is a pre-requisite.

m

Self-reliance can best be characterized as an acquired “mind-set”; when well re-enforced   with good family values, it provides the best range possibilities to overcome adversities in life. It also positioned the individual to recognize available opportunities to excel and the willingness to commit one’s time and resources to earn and maximize potential gains. The attitude that “I am willing to do my best and work hard for it” is productive.

The opposite of that is “dependency,” which unfortunately has been over promoted in the in our societies. It is sad. It promotes a mind-set of “hope” for better and more of it. “Hope” in this case is dependent on others to come true for you and a good fortune to happen, allowing others to govern one’s destiny. Dependency retards opportunities to excel, to be the most productive and positive force for everyone with significant mutual benefits, verses being a burden or drain of the limited resources available. Committing to self-reliance and the mind-set of wanting to be the best in class on anything one wants to pursue, is by itself a winning strategy at the individual level. It is not where we are, but where we are going from here that matters.

+1 I subscribe to this line of thinking, and tie it closely together with your posts about the system approach.

Just catching up a little on what's happening in the DNOTES world Smiley

The community here never ceases to amaze me. So much amazing community interaction here. Love it.

Hi, Octoparty. We are always happy to see you here. I know that you have devoted much time and resources to help smooth out some challenging situations in our industry, which we never seem to be lacking. We certainly wish you well. Visit us often, share your observations on the "state of the crypto world" as you see it, and let us know if there is anything we can be helpful.

Thanks Dyna. Always a pleasure. And yes, I have been a busy, busy man lately. I should be attending my first Bitcoin Meetup here in Florida this month. I'm hoping to make some good contacts and get some things started down here. I also will be hiring out some jobs soon, which should free up some of my time. But, even when busy, I always check in here and catch up Smiley

Good to hear Octoparty, let us know how you did at your bitcoin meetup.

@ Dyna:

surely one aspect of wisdom is knowing what you know and what you don't know. Here, in your field, I am your student.

My field -- I was involved in my first political action in 1982 -- is revolutionist political theory and social practice/'political metaphysics,' so my background -- all unaffiliated scholarship -- is in 'social systems' and why they do, don't, and might work:

anarcho-syndicalism, anarcha-feminism, anthropology, libertarian communism, authoritarian communism (for example, conversant with the varieties of communal and non-communal property relations), second-wave feminism, literary critical theory (which produced a range of highly influential discourses), fascism, religion, psychology ('cause people build political systems on belief), particularly evolutionary psychology ('cause biology influences why people build systems on belief), and linguistics ('cause the linguists have adduced a lot of data on biological influence).

Personally? at this juncture? I'm a libertarian centrist 'tenurist' nativist* But a friend introduced me to cryptos, my 'twilight hobby.' [I'm seriously old and ill.]

Mark, your background is noted with much respect. You have a great strong mind. I love sharing what I know and it has been a great honor to work with a great community strongly committed to make a difference for the better. I am a very independent thinker placing great value on every component of any system I am a part of. I often take the system approach and the human side of things very seriously. Everything matters, because the final score is not just based on a single act but the entire show of many acts. A book is in the works based on that philosophy and many more that could be of enormous help to small business owners and their employees.

"Bitcoin ecosystem is being built almost exclusively by third parties who believe that it is a good business opportunity for their investment."

Tee hee.

My favourite gripe on this is 'How did we shift so fast from staunchly-libertarian-geeks-with-laptops-meeting-in-cafes-to-trade-coin to Omni Exchange Inc.?" (though I do actually know the answer)

Mark

Well don't leave us hanging... What's the answer? Smiley

Automated exchanges enable speculation.

I shall study Dyna's text. Yes, there is a range of answers.

But: IMHO, GFC Two will enormously strengthen the anti-Guv and stealth-coin factions.
Mark, I do want to let you know that I agreed with TeeGee's comments "You strike me as a very intelligent and observant player in this game IMZ - Mark, so i'm sure I have shared with you nothing new." Your contributions to this forum are invaluable and well appreciated.

My prediction is that Bitcoin will continue to be the virtual currency for speculation and DNotes will be the preferred digital currency for global commerce, by 2020. The vast majority of DNotes stakeholders will be the working class, working hard to make an honest living. There will remain cryptocurrencies serving various niche markets.
