It has been a long time. We missed you MiningHabit. I hope you don't mind that I decided to post,  on DNotes forum, your touching and inspiring message from CryptoMoms. Glad to know that your wife is much better now. My wife was very sick too for over a month, started out with a bladder inflection leading to other complications. She has finally fully recovered. There were some very challenging days. I am sure you had gone through some of those. Hope everything is fine with you and your family now.

We are glad that you started a saving account for each of your child. I trust that they will be in fairly good positions with their savings by the time they are ready to go to college. If you have time to actively participate in some of our projects you collect some DNotes and start building a nice stash using your new DNotesVault account.

Welcome home, with our very best wishes to you and your family.

Hello everyone!

I am a very longtime supporter of DNotes. I mined it from the very first moment, and am certainly one of the original supporters. Towards the middle of the year we had our third child, and my wife suffered from some life threatening complications. Just before that I had broken down my mining rig, since it had become unpopular. So I ended up losing touch with crypto quite a bit. But I am still a proud DNotes supporter and mini-whale. My original stash still is safely hidden under the perfect lock and key of cold storage.

Thankfully, the New Year sees the my wife, our kids, and myself in good health. I was touched to received a PM on bitcoin talk from our genius dev, and began to discover some of the recent DNotes Innovations. I got the PR notices about C.R.I.S.P. but confess to reading it at the hospital and not taking much action on it. Until now.

I just signed up for a DNotesVault account, and am going to transfer all of my DNotes in Cold Storage there. Actually, on second thought, maybe I should keep them in cold storage :-) But I did open up a vault address for each of my children for the purposes of CRISP. Details as follows.

Nickname: Addy, my Little MakerGirl
CRISP Address: DgKg8Fe8Z1yNhoyx8ZZGX5M6BegeUefoNR
Age: 6
Interests: Carl Jung once said that the most important influence on the child is the unlived life of the parent. I am a Technologist, and know very deeply the Maths around existentially what makes up a computer, computation, and technology. I can understand how to make computers think, but not necessarily HOW to make them act. I'm not a computer scientist. This reality is something I am changing in my daughter. We have the good fortune of living in a town with one of the best Engineering schools in the World. I am leveraging that for Addy. She spends time designing things so we can go to the MakerLab on campus and 3D print them. She is a whiz with the iPad and other such things. And the kicker, I bought her a Kano she that she could learn to build her own computer, and code it! My hopes and dreams for the future lie in her.

Nickname: Soren
CRISP Address: DYduMtEWAN2bNzVb5LD9xEzk6CPZyhPZUD
Age: 2
Interests: Soren is such a sweet little boy. He is completely fearless, and absolutely relentless. The other day, he woke up for anyone in the house, and I awoke to a start. He was on top of the refrigerator! He dragged a chair from the kitchen, climbed onto the counter, then onto the microwave, and then onto the top of the fridge. Because he wanted the candy on top of the fridge. When he wants something, he will find a way. Kind of life the DNotes developer team. We want a stable crypto, no THE stable crypto. And then made it happen. Soren is just learning to talk, and I am sure he will be the child to keep us on our toes.

Nickname: Baby Clyde

Age: 5+ months
Interests: My Wife and I went through Mental Hell (and for my Wife, some physical torture as well, which is still ongoing a bit), having this little guy. The hospital made a significant mistake, and it nearly cost Katy her life. My Mom, Dad, and Brother are Medical Doctors, so it is anathema to me to sue a medical provider, even though we should in this case. It's been really hard going the latter half of 2014. But we persevered, and thankfully, our little baby himself is happy as can be. He is, no kidding, the happiest baby ever. He is ALWAYS smiling, he eats well, is developing perfectly, and sleeps through the night like a champion. He is just a perfect baby. Which is like Karma's way of helping us out, b/c it was so hard bringing him into this World.

So, those are my kids. And that is their story. I look forward to getting their CRISPS up and running!

All the Best,
Nick

I'm not sure who is luckier - us for having Nick back, him for having a great family, or his kids for having such a great dad?  One thing I am sure of and that is Dyna said what we are all feeling and that is "Welcome Home".

MY 2 CENTS ON CRYPTO CURRENCY TO CHANGE THE WORLD
JANUARY 2, 2015 1 COMMENT
Apparently I am consumed; I again am talking about crypto currency. I am not sure where we will end up, but I know that something in the realm of digital currency is going to explode in 2015 and I want to be on the leading edge of it. I want to see the same amazing growth as Amazon who has over time realized a 60,000% increase in value since its inception. A few someone’s are going to be rich, most likely the same someone’s as before because they are paying attention.

So what is it going to be? Bitcoin, Litecoin, primecoin, Ripples, Dogecoin, or any other crypto or digital currency out there. Will it be on a microchip under your skin (this is real there are 2000 people already chipped otherwise known as IoT Internet of Things) or just a file in your computer? Will it be on the new Plastc card that will bring all of your accounts and cards to one place for management? I personally don’t believe this one will make it (just my opinion).

I would suggest that if you are not up to date with the crypto world you should get there quick.

Some Ideas:

Open a Bitcoin or any coin wallet.

Acquire by any means coins they are even for sale on ebay

Talk about it and find out what you can

Put it all together and make your own decision

Then “call to action” comment and tell me and the world what you thin and how it will change us al

That is an interesting sentence that you highlighted. I found the rest of this persons "ramblings" difficult to read.

I'd love to see similar things as described implemented, including auto exchange ideas and what not. This made Stellar coin an interesting idea that I could support. I think Dnotes has something up its sleeve however. I've had many a personal idea on crypto and POS gateways, but I'd never discuss them on public forums. The trick is keeping them relevant, or handing them on to the right people to consider if you don't plan on ever implementing them yourself. The thing is, so many people are coming up with so many solutions, that some are better than the ones you may come up with yourself, and if somebody does come up with something better, you can still consider the various features that are still worthwhile to add to the ideas of others.

For example, some other people recently came up with "sidechains" to work in tandem with a main blockchain. I'd been working on a similar concept to circumvent block chain payment processing lag that would solve several other issues at point of sale, but I think the sidechains idea is better after reading the white paper. Sometimes you merely need to divulge your idea to somebody else, and then it can be improved upon, or provide the inspiration to a far better idea using the same principles. Just got to communicate them properly!

Stellar is a good idea, a copy of Ripple. I still have some money invested in Ripple which I often forget.  I like their global exchange networks and local gateways with the participation of banks. It is conceivable that DNotes can participate in some ways down the road. The true value of their native currency is hard to project. Only time will tell.

DNotes has a pure currency focus at this point, very much a strategic and tactical preference. So far it is working out above my expectation. If everything continues to perform above expectation, DNotes will dominate as the Digital Currency of the Future. I am inclined to believe that we are on target and will have a very good shot at that. If I am correct, DNotes is significantly undervalued with huge potential appreciation, hence a great saving vehicle, which in turn will make our large family of CR.I.S.Ps. very successful, with many happy stakeholders.

We recently concluded that it is highly desirable to offer as many different CR.I.S.Ps. as possible when the price of DNotes is still low and undervalued. In consideration of that we have decided to launch as many of our CR.I.S.Ps as possible over the next six months.

It is important that each program has a dedicated project leader, with a backup where possible so that we can continue to support each program beyond the launch phase. We do reward our supporters with some DNotes for their efforts, and hope you will save them for the long term. Our supply is becoming more limited and harder to come by as the price of DNotes increases. Let us know if you have an interest to participate.  Just remember, we set our bar quite high and will take our time to do things right.

Hmmmm.. not a coding guru, but I think I have seen automated escrow services-  I wonder if that could be incorperated.

Ah =)  Nevermind!   Anyways yeah.. really no need to reinvent the escrow wheel again at this point in time.

Not trying to be self-serving but some in our industry may wish that we provide escrow services since DNotes places very high value on trust. However, we prefer to remain highly focused in accomplishing our core missions which are most valuable to our stakeholders and avoid risk exposures that may be disruptive.

There have been an increasing number requests for us to make CR.I.S.P. for Retirement a priority. We do know that a lot of savings for retirement are under funded. The potential high returns of saving a small amount of DNotes on a regular basis could make quite a difference. Let us know what you think.

Yes, outstanding, stick to the plan!

Also, I think CR.I.S.P. retirement accounts would be received well in many circles. I know most young people don't think much about retirement until it's too late but, introducing a savings plan in their own digital world just might bring them on board before it's too late. I would say go for it!

I agree, it's a perfect time for CR.I.S.P. for Retirement.  RJF made a good point, this may be the type of digital world savings plan that gets young people saving for their retirement.  The potential returns, could help give people hope for a secure retirement. I love this idea!

I agree. RJF made a great point. It could be a great thing to get young people to start thinking about retirement early. The older age group who know just too well that their retirement accounts are way under funded, will likely look at this favorably. This could have worldwide appeal. How should we package it? Love to have inputs from our community.

Did I remember correctly that one of RJF's New Year resolutions is to collect some DNotes. This could be a good chance. Show us a good plan to be well executed with a full press release, I will show you some DNotes. Lol, but I am serious. We now have a good infrastructure to get our community more involved and earn some DNotes at the same time. Don't forget that our bars are set high and we take our time to do things right.

Well, I'm certainly not a retirement planner but, It would, in my opinion, need to incorporate the following items:

1. Secure and guaranteed
2. A minimum initial deposit and low monthly or quarterly deposits after
3. Some form of interest. Not POS or anything like that right now but, a fund would need to be created to provide small monthly interest payment.
4. Marketing
5 Dedicated overseers
6.Small monthly management fee (you need to get something back for the fund and operators)
7. Down the road, when you start to consider POS or other methods of keeping the network healthy, a lot of this can be provided automatically.

I wouldn't look at this as a profit center but, DNotes in general will profit as the coin gains value through this exposure. Also #6 can be adjusted as the coins value increases. Make it a selling point, help increase awareness of DNotes and your monthly fees will go down.

As far as marketing it, no real difference from marketing DNotes itself except increase your presence in areas where young people congregate online and off. You already advertise to many areas, beef it up and make the fund your prime offering. Include the others as well but don't push the coin itself, push the usefulness of it.

And the big one; make sure it's within the scope of the law. I don't think this is a stumbling block right now but, get your ducks in a legal row for the coming years. As long as the matching funds are being held where they can be audited, that should be fine for now.

It sounds like a lot of work but, you have already done the heavy lifting with existing products. And, think about this, it is an area NO ONE has even begun to move into except DNotes, why not own it?

RJF, you came up with some great ideas. Unfortunately, because of regulatory hurdles some of them can not be incorporated at this time. They could very well be part of our future plans. At some point in the future we could have a DNotes Exchange registered with FinCEN and licensed with every state or we can partner with an exchange that is already registered and meet all the regulatory and compliance reporting requirements. Doing it ourselves will take years and cost a fortune. It is also possible that our objectives can be accomplished through acquisition. For now we have to stay clear of certain areas.

A brief understanding of the registration and licensing requirements may be helpful. I am not a lawyer and will try to give you a “layman” understanding. FinCEN is given a mission to prevent money laundering and all “money transmitters” are required to register with FinCEN by law. The registration part is easy. The ongoing compliance reporting is extremely demanding and cost a fortune. Money transmitters must be licensed in every state, with the exception of a couple of states. This is a very expensive and time consuming process. State regulators’ mission is consumer protection. From a legal prospective, many issues are unsettled and FinCEN regulatory guidance is confusing.

Until we get a better picture, DNotesVault is best characterized as a secure web wallet and does not engage in any sale, trade or exchange of currency. It is a free service for our stakeholders and we do not penalize withdrawal.

I hope I did not dampen your enthusiasm too much. We just have to remain patience and not disrupt or jeopardize our growth path.

You and our community have brought up a lot of good points for discussion. Please continue.

Especially in view of legal constraints preventing us from incorporating some exciting features, we need to be very creative with the landing page of CR,I.S.P for retirement. Perhaps it should allow a talk forum and rich contents related to retirement savings. This is where our community can really come together and make valuable contributions. When it is ready for launch, we will support it with a full press release. Thanks for your support.

Understood, that's why I made a strong point on the legal issue. This is a stumbling block for all crypto projects until someone figures out how the regulators are going to classify crypto once and for all. At this point, I can foresee many different classifications depending on jurisdiction and national and state borders. I believe it will be years before this part of the equation falls into place.

That being said, some experimentation has to come into play to push the existing borders and see what will survive and what won't. As projects are developed and either dumped for legal issues or, ignored by big brother or, regulated by same we will start to figure out how this will all move forward.

But, remember one thing, if the border is not marked there is no way to find where it is short of crossing it...  Never stop innovating!

Very well said, RJF.  I am 100% in agreement with you. We are in a Digital Age and digital currency is an integral part of it, whether our politicians and regulators like it or not. The best and the most efficient will always become the dominant choice over time.

Digital currency and the blockchain technologies are far superior and significantly more efficient than our current payment network systems and our current ways of doing business through costly intermediaries. The best will prevail, though it may take years. The unknown is how many years it will take and how many battles will be fought. Licensing requirements should be done on a one nation one license bases. A state by state requirement as in the case of US is totally absurd and need to change.

I am passionate about working with small business owners and engaging them. This is where grass roots campaign needs to start. They need to start taking care of themselves, their own financial freedom, and that of their employees. Digital currency savings for their retirement is one of our visions for wealth creation. We love to see a lot of people benefiting from it. Thanks for taking the leadership to make CR.I.S.P. for Retirement a reality soon

Never stop innovating!

will DNOTE be on bittrex soon?

We have spoken with bittrex briefly a while back and DNotes does not meet their criteria, which was a high page count on bitcointalk.

Seriously? That's almost like a bad joke...

Unfortunately, that was no joke. Getting on more exchanges is not a high priority for DNotes at this time. We are placing a lot of efforts to expand our family of CR.I.S.Ps.  Taking good care of DNotesVault depositors is also an important commitment, while we continue to deliver stability and reliable long term appreciation of DNotes.

We will start working closely with small business owners and their employees, from start-up to $50 million in revenue. Preference will be given to privately held companies. Publicly held companies have more of an issue in recognizing revenue from sales using digital currency. Being able to meet earning expectation is important enough to them that they limit their currency risk exposure to only holding fiat currency, without holding digital currencies. Technically, their payment processor accepts the Bitcoin payment on their behalf, dumping them instantly, to pay their customers in fiat currency. This will remain a challenging problem for Bitcoin and most cryptocurrencies. We prefer to recognize the problem way ahead of time, allowing us to minimizes the negative impact, or totally neutralize it.

You can also expect us to step up our PR efforts including an attempt to reach the mainstream media. 2015 will be a great year for our stakeholders. We are very appreciative of your increasing participation and strongly encourage everyone to participate to the best you can.  This is still a ground floor opportunity, especially if you can hold on to your DNotes for the long term.

This article is a few months old, but still worth reading:

"Five Reasons Wealth Managers Should Care About Bitcoin"

"I’ve spent my career helping wealth managers from the leading institutions across the globe differentiate themselves in an effort to grow their assets under management.  I’ve made no secret of my disdain for “your father’s wealth manager” and my advocacy for embracing technology to better serve client demands.

Over the past year, it’s become clear to me that a new opportunity has arisen to set oneself apart from others in the wealth management industry.  Bitcoin has rapidly emerged as an asset class that can’t be ignored, yet today it is little understood by 95 percent of the wealth management community.  Most clients are - at a minimum - curious, while some are eager to find a way to capture the opportunity presenting itself before it passes them by..."

"So why should you care about Bitcoin?  Do you want to be in the top five percent of performers?  Do you want to be relevant in five years?"

1. The NextGen is holding it and it reflects who they are

2. Your current client base is interested in it and want their kids to think they understand it

3. 95 percent of your peers don’t get it, which means you could be in the top five percent

4. You could be negligent if you don’t

5. You will be irrelevant in five years if you don’t

Hi AshleighM, welcome to the DNotes community! One of our upcoming projects will be the CR.I.S.P. for Charity program, which it sounds like you will be interested in. If you haven't already, please take a look at what we have been doing with the other CR.I.S.P. programs. We would love to hear your ideas and input for structuring the CR.I.S.P. for Charity program.

I have looked over the C.R.I.S.P. for Charity program and it looks very interesting I would love to offer you feedback and ideas on it. Let me know if I can help in any way.

That is great. We will keep that in mind. Thanks, Ashleigh.

Hmmmm.. not a coding guru, but I think I have seen automated escrow services-  I wonder if that could be incorperated.

At some point in the future we could have a DNotes Exchange registered with FinCEN and licensed with every state or we can partner with an exchange that is already registered and meet all the regulatory and compliance reporting requirements. will DNOTE be on bittrex soon?

We have spoken with bittrex briefly a while back and DNotes does not meet their criteria, which was a high page count on bitcointalk.

If I remember correctly, their conclusion was that DNotes did not have sufficient support from its community based on our forum page count.

Despite various attempts, Cryptsy has yet to be convinced to at least place DNotes on their voting list.

It is not always easy to take a different path. We see things quite differently and there are no compelling reasons for us to change course. Do the right things and everything else will follow, sooner or later.

I wonder if the stock exchanges count forum pages before agreeing to list a company on the exchange?   Grin Wink Grin
