New Zealand Deputy Governor: 'The Reserve Bank Does Not Feel Threatened by Bitcoin'

New Zealand deputy governor Grant Spencer says New Zealand's central bank, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, is not threatened by Bitcoin, but is eventually planning to tighten regulation.
In a speech delivered to the Payments New Zealand's premier industry conference on November 11 in Auckland, deputy governor Grant Spencer stated:
"As the currency issuer, the Reserve Bank does not feel threatened by Bitcoin which seems to behave more like a commodity than a currency."
"However," continued Spencer, "I do not doubt that future digital currencies will become more realistic substitutes for cash."

I have been having trouble logging in and even trying to contact the original Dnotes mining pool I just was able to login for the first time in days and navigating there webpage is terrible..Whats up with it...I need a new place with at least a few miners to get back on track any suggestions as I see a decent hash rate but cant find any other pools with anyone on them...plz help or if you know a direct contact to the original
dnotes pool operator maybe we can get them back on track as not many people are mining there anymore...thanks all...

Don't see any problem with DNotes pool at the moment but if you want to try a different one, I'm on Lifeforce (http://dnotes.lifeforce.info/) and it is rock solid. 33 MH/s producing around 700 DNotes a day.

Yep he's got the DNotesPool site running slow fixed. Looks like the exchange prices were the culprit. No impact on mining.

Doing things that right way can take a very long time most participants in the crypto world would not have the patience for. Still, waiting since mid-2013 is a little too long. However, once approved by SEC, that itself  is an important endorsement that we are dealing with money by a different name.

The Winklevoss Brothers Say Their ETF Is 'Still Going Through the Regulatory Process'

Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss discuss the state of their Bitcoin ETF, the Winklevoss Bitcoin Trust, with Bloomberg TV at the Money20/20 conference held last week in Las Vegas.

The Winklevoss brothers filed plans for the Winklevoss Bitcoin Trust in mid-2013, and while the exchange-traded fund (ETF) is still under review from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the brothers assuredBloomberg TV's Erik Schatzker in an interview led during the Money 20/20 conference in Las Vegas, that the ETF is "alive and well."

I guess we should thank the Winklevoss brothers for breaking new ground, and hopefully speeding up the process for those who follow.  This ETF will be one of the easiest ways to invest in Bitcoin for a lot of people.  It will also give Bitcoin more credibility as a new investment vehicle.

Thanks for this enlightening information. I am going to read up on it now for Cryoto having an endorsed EFT is very cool. Hopefully this will also bring a lot of traction to DNOTES VAULT.

Interesting article on having to give up anonymity in order to be in compliance with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).”

****************

“As Bitcoin businesses are forced to become compliant with financial regulations, they’re giving up anonymity, Venture Beat reports, and the Bitcoin community is not happy.

Bitcoin ATM manufacturer Robocoin announced that all of its ATM operators would have to enable anti-privacy software and hardware as part of a new effort toward compliance with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).”

And a large number of those operators are telling Robocoin to go pound sand. Some are even replacing the machine's OS with another that does not require ID. Here in the US, the Supreme Court has always held anonymity as a basic right. I see a challenge on the horizon...

Personally I am in favor of strong privacy protection with reasonable anonymity. There is definitely is a solid niche for extreme anonymity and many of our industry peers are betting everything on that, far over crowding the limited market potential. By choice, that is not DNotes’ focus. We are targeting the general population where transparency, trust and integrity trump extreme anonymity.

I would consider Facebook new move in the following article as an attempt to provide an increased level of privacy with a reasonable amount of anonymity. DNotesVault is designed to provide a fair amount of that.

Why Facebook Just Launched Its Own ‘Dark Web’ Site

Facebook has never had much of a reputation for letting users hide their identities online. But now the world’s least anonymous website has just joined the Web’s most anonymous network.

In a first-of-its-kind move for a Silicon Valley giant, Facebook on Friday launched a Tor hidden service, a version of its website that runs the anonymity software Tor. That new site, which can only be accessed by users running the Tor software, bounces users’ connections through three extra encrypted hops to random computers around the Internet, making it far harder for any network spy observing that traffic to trace their origin.

I favor a level of privacy that allows me to make transactions without companies, corporations, and regular people knowing my buying habits. Any web wallet type service will provide that level of privacy.

It seems like facebook funneling people through the Tor network is like herding them into one place making them easier to attack.

DNotes
I started mining this on the actual day one and have done so off and on through the age of having 4 280x cards running to a widow miner to cloud hashing.. I have faith in this one and have never sold a single Dnote...I hope one day this one makes it because the greed, the pumps and dumps are not here which makes this environment a breath of fresh air in the cryptoworld...keep up the work and I hope the forth coming developments work out well...

DNotes has been a solid performer since day one and I'm sure will continue to be so in the future. Many other coins could do well to follow DNotes way of doing things...

Thank you for stopping by to share your story kold678. We appreciate what you're doing and contributing to the success of DNotes!

Coming soon!

DNotesVault Press Release.

Here is an unedited sneak peek:

"The ability for any DNotes stakeholder, with a DNotesVault account, to send DNotes to anyone that has an email address is an invaluable feature when coupled with DNotesVault security and ease of use. With the holiday season fast approaching, one can stretch $100, or 22,000 DNotes, at the current price, to a long list of family and friends, even at the last minute. The recipient is directed to open an account at DNotesVault.com and the gifted amount will instantly show up in the new account balance."

This is a game changer, I am eagerly awaiting its release.

On a side note I am also very proud to introduce Veterans for Digital Currency. A non profit organization that is focused on supporting retired & serving military members and their families. We are excited to assist military communities that want to get involved with digital currency. The president and co founder is a very good friend of mine that serves with the Canadian Armed Forces. He is extremely excited to learn and is very appreciative of the opportunity. He has also been a loyal DNotes miner since a month after launch. We have a meeting this weekend to discuss how V4DC will facilitate DNotesVault acceptance among our target demographic, and future direction of V4DC.

FireFighters for Digital Currency will also be looking to help encourage DNotesVault acceptance among Firefighters and other Emergency Service Personnel.

Keep up the great work DNotes team, and we'll do what we can to help.

We are delighted to learn that your strong efforts and commitments to support different non-profit/charity organizations are beginning to bear some fruits. We will be delighted to support your efforts as much as we can.

DNotes has a high potential to be the best store of value. Along with the capabilities of DNotesVault, CR.I.S.P. for charities could become very popular quickly. Charity fund raising could accept DNotes, Bitcoin and other crypto currencies and store away a portion of the proceeds in DNotes using DNotesVault to take advantage of the security and high potential value appreciation. This alone could be a game changer making DNotes very popular and trustworthy. I was the General Secretary of the YMCA in Sabah, Malaysia for a number of years and deeply appreciate the hard work and dedication required to conduct successful fund raising. Getting  healthy returns on money raised could go a long way.
