It's an airdrop. Just a donation. Who gives a shit? This is not auroracoin. NYC isn't built (hyped) around an airdrop. Just one of many promotions coming. Merchant acceptance and usage is key. More NYC is worth by July 4th, harder it will be to refuse...
Sorry I'll be more clear. I meant to talk about something along the lines of:
You don't need to follow along the exact lines of what Gnarltusk mentions, but things like this help a coin grow. Yes I know the coin isn't that old or big yet whatever the case is. I want to know what steps are being taken towards things like this/raising awareness besides the press releases already put out (I'm assuming you are going to keep putting those out) and the android wallet in development. That isn't to say these things haven't been done well or good already, but I feel as if I'm still in the dark.
What is/will NYC be built around? The only thing I know of from past posts is the fact that the coin is named New York Coin and the claim that New Yorkers will adopt this coin because of its name and their pride for NYC.
I give a shit, and I think a lot of people give a shit about (hype) if not in the form of an airdrop, then in the form of something else. What made doge popular? Hype over a joke or a meme. Auroracoin's hype over an airdrop gave it some demand even if it just ended up being dumped. Blackcoin had its multipool. Hype is what gets buyers. Hype is important, especially as a marketing tool and I question a foundation member that disregards this. Yes the coin has two minute transaction times etc... (giving it use as a retail payment method) you or someone else posted that the last time I asked. Is the coin/foundation doing anything innovative to get the coin out there. Or are you going to give me the answer it is in the works, big plans for the future, etc...? Basically aimless bull shit that doesn't really have any meaning. I'd rather nothing be said of what the coin will be/do while stuff is in the works rather than being given baseless the coin will be worth x y and z.
In other words, I want to know what drives you and/or others to the conclusion that NYC = $1 or NYC 200+ Satoshi. You're right merchant acceptance and usage is key. I already know about the bounty being offered for merchants that adopt the coin and whatnot, but I'd rather get news of whats in the works rather than posts of pretty pictures and baseless claims on what the value of this coin will be. How is this coin being marketed? Have you/why don't you put out bounties for the creation of a faucet or a gambling/dice game for nyc etc...? The shop was/is a good idea. What happened with that? You guys could do general online giveaways to raise awareness of the coin. For people who like this page, tweet this message, share this site, share this article etc...
