Hello all and thanks to Pab for keeping the wheels turning in my absence. My twitter handle @dynomania was Euro stratospheric the last few days.
There are some serious back-end block Conf. issues I'm onto since I got home two hours ago. Just drove 500Kms home but will sort asap. Apologies for the disruption.
Unfortunately as you may know the Cryptocon was cancelled in Singapore but we decided to visit anyway since all our flights, accommodation were already booked and paid for. So I contacted a few business individuals before I left to follow up. This is my only return visit since 1989 and Singapore has changed dramatically since then. Now virtually all business is dominated by powerful SING/Chinese interests. It's a very expensive city the divide between the very rich and the average worker isn't so obvious until you venture out to the suburbs and see how hard it is for ordinary people. When you tell people you're from Australia they all want to know where you live and of course I live in a very beautiful part of the WA coast with endless white beaches, few people, long summers & azure unpolluted waters. Day to day troubles should always stand second place to the privilege of living in the "Lucky Country" as we like to call it.
Anyway I digress, the kind business people that I introduced myself to were frankly somewhat confused and disinterested in cryptocurrencies. General response, "Ah yes" "Bitcoin" new payment system, very small now. "Songcoin" "Immm same like Bitcoin but for music" "Interesting please send my people more information?" I realize that this is a polite way of telling me they're not really interested at this point. Come back when you're back in SING we can talk again perhaps? You know I learned something important about Chinese culture and please no offense intended to my Eastern friends. Basically if there's a wave of enthusiasm they want to be on it but Entrepreneurship is somewhat of a gamble. Successful Chinese business people take calculated risks far away from gambling. Much like conservative Western Banks. So I believe the Singapore VC climate is not ready for Songcoin/Altcoins yet. But when the wave of enthusiasm comes be ready because they will surely want a piece of the action as do the worlds largest Bitcoin miners of course they're Chinese also.
But - Please correct me if I'm wrong on the above and provide names, phone numbers and addresses
Oh, I found some very good young entertainers one night, introduced myself and gave them some SONG USB's. "What is this USB?" It's promotional, a place to store your Songcoins - you know like Bitcoin but this one for music. "Oh yeah I hear about Bitcoin payment system" Yes this one for Music I keep repeating to all the nice people I met on my journey. Early Early days, this will take a while
On the home front we've got some really exciting things happening. We're presently negotiating with the management of a major international entertainer for a potential creative collaboration in 2015. I don't want to say too much if we can pull the deal together I believe this will be the biggest thing since Bitcoin Pizza. Perhaps we can even give the big B a run for it's money.
Hoping to have a dedicated Dev helping us with Songcoin shortly. This is becoming a critical issue.
Thanks all for your continued interest.
再见
