Has anybody here (or at all?) used ZiftrCoins to transact real-world business? i.e. buy something using their browser add-on or whatever? Aside from mining to hoard, speculate or sell immediately on Cryptsy, has anybody bought anything with this PoS?

Nah, nobody does that with alts. We just mine and trade them. Thats what fiat is for. Accepted everywhere...

Oh boy, I think I'm going to get hammered for that one..

True enough, BUT ZiftrCoin's whole value proposition is it gives you *up to 5% off select transactions using their plug-in*
That means people gots to shop!!! People love coupons!!!

AAAaaaaannnndddd ? Did you read my last sentence ? A few GPU miners will not kill the coin. Releasing it on public will.
Last time i've checked the hashes went up (from 230 to 400 Mhash) and the price went down! All i'm saying is if a few GPU miners can make such an impact on hashrate and therefore on price, imagine all of us mining with GPU, my guess is the price will be around 10k-20k, or maybe even lower when the dumping begin.
hashtrate doesn't affect price. Coins are minted at the same rate regardless of how it was mined. Increased hashrate raises difficulty, coin supply remains constant.

If the price went way up, people would start using AWS (Amazon Web Services)  adding virtually unlimited hashrate using just the CPU miner.
Oh about that AWS thing, i was renting 32 core instance, it was running for 12 hours and i got out 1.7 Mahash and payed so far 40$ (of course i've stopped bcs it should give me at least 15 Mhash to cover the expenses). So no way AWS is profitable, at least not @ this price of the coin, u just don't get out that many hashes. Btw c3.8xlarge/1.7 Mhash (which i rented) costs $3.392 per Hour now do your math
Read my post..I said IF the coin price rose then CPU miners would use AWS. I didn't say idiots would mine at a loss on AWS  Roll Eyes

I'm actually mining this on my Lawnmower..

Gotta get me one of those for sure!

Is that electrical or petrol? ;-)

Petrol of course.. Its just a bit loud and it smells, but it's hashing away fine ;-)

I don't kill coin, I release miners (which hasn't been released btw... and won't be released until ziftrcoin team do so)
My quick and dirty code gets 1.66MH/s on R280x. Could you tell what is the speed of yours?

it are words like this in this topic. It can be that it are just liars, or it's true. I didnt see any miner yet.

well done, yes we are both liars, there is no gpu miner, and it should stay that way as long as possible
Yes u and iSEETHEFUTURE r both liars u r not using GPU to mine the coin  Cheesy. Oh btw i wrote u about your GPU miner i'm still interested   Wink

Maybe you're right, but they are taking advantage of all other miners and concentrating the hashrate in 10 people...
Dangerous for the network and the community plaing fair and mining with their cpu.

I prefer that all the people mining with their GPU, not just 10-20 people abusing the network and community.

Where do you expect to see them?

At ~500 MH/s network, SUPRNOVA has 170 MH/s, 44 MH/s are for MaxMiners. From the coin start solominers was ~200MH.
So it leaves about 100 MH new miners that mine exclusively solo with diff 6 to 11 (last 24 hrs)...

Option 1: They are dumb to mine solo with ~300-500 kH and expect a block for 48 hrs average,
Option 2: They are mining with GPU (pool and solo) so that they dont be exposed easily and still got the advantage over miner at home.

I bet on Option 2 - just see top 5 hashrates at SuprNova - 1. ~30 MH, 2. ~15 MH, 3-5. ~10 MH => ~45% hasrate at SuprNova from top 5 miners mining not with their GPU...
