Speaking about blitz, does anyone know what info the developers gathered from this "social experiment"?

Can see that BLTZ is jumping on Bittrex -- any ideas on a reasonable target price?

Yeah, those are great ideas, RentaMouse. I've thought about some of them previously, and have had a coin idea rolling bouncing around in the background for a while. There are definitely lots of opportunities for things we can do in the future, but sadly there is only a limited amount of time to work on them!

I was just looking at the Voting list on MintPal and there are about 350 altcoins there, which reminds me why I dont mind paying the 3% fee for IPOminer to do the research for me Smiley

Had a thought though, if we reach a point where there aren't any worthwhile IPOs because the volume of launches makes it virtually impossible for them to get listed on any exchanges (or they all go to individual algos), rather than becoming an alternative multipool how about launching an IPOpool coin? Could keep the main stratum port as it is but have a separate one for IPOcoin supporters, miners can then choose what they prefer or load balance between both.

Was thinking you could do it with the standard latest features, PoW + PoS, constant variable difficulty, plus a couple of extras:

  • No premine, but use WATER's "transaction tax" idea - 0.1% of each transaction goes to coin development fund for promotion, bribing exchanges etc
  • ipoMiner Pool has "autoconvert to IPOcoin" option - if profitability drops for IPOcoin switches to mining other coins but autosells them and pays out in IPOcoin
  • Hashpower for hire - ailing altcoins can pay IPOcoin to redirect the port to their pool for a short period, to get them past a hardfork block etc
  • Other mining pools welcome, can either mine IPOcoin like any other altcoin, or direct their hashpower to the port as a subsidiary pool
  • (Maybe possible??) Absorbs dying altcoins - if the devteam is still active but the coin is virtually dead can hardfork its blockchain and merge with IPOcoin. Zero block rewards for the altcoin but transactions at least get processed so investors can still trade and devteam has an incentive to contribute to IPOcoin

Its probably a silly idea, and I can already think of a few issues with the above "features" but I thought I may as well post it here. @IPOminer - if you are horrified by this suggestion I won't take offence if you delete this post.

I think WATER is very undervalued right now because it hasn't gotten much volume on Bittrex yet, and that's the only exchange for it. Block rewards are only 1000 coins, so the value should ultimately be much higher as it gains interest and volume. Their launch has been the most successful recent one.

A price target for each coin would be a good alternative until we wait for managed trading to be implemented.

I'd like to echo this again.

Are we anticipating a price increase with WATER?

@TheWARLok Yes, it is down at the moment -- I didn't see anyone using it yesterday and have been testing an implementation of new code to allow diversifying the pool hashrate. Were you using it?

Only found out about it today. Once I found out it was opened up, switched one of my workers to it. Love what you are doing here, but also have to keep an eye on what my workers can be doing (low hash rate and such ;-)) and thus far ECC has panned out pretty well for me here as opposed to the other coins so far. Still work with mulipool.us and get better results there overall, yet figure I'd give this pool a shot. Like auto switch idea, but still. like the ability to target certain coin based on my own and limited (for now) criteria.

Non the less. Keep up the good work. between you and 'MP', Pretty nice spread,  Grin

We've switched back to WATER now.

I looked through the source code for Blitz to see exactly how the end of mining is implemented - it looks like PoW mining actually ends at block 10502. I've been in contact with a few people in the BlitzCoin community to discuss forking it to PoS post-block 10502.

That's right, Blitz goes until block 10,000. We'll be on top of switching off it at that point, don't worry Smiley

The hosting provider for our protected incoming server just notified us that they saw some packetloss on a specific router earlier today due to a hardware issue. I didn't personally see any effect on my miners, and our monitoring didn't show much of a discrepancy in connections or an impact on our services; however, if you experienced any trouble connecting today, the issue should now be fully resolved.

@RentaMouse I'm not sure what input is needed from the dev either, or why anyone would particularly care about that other than if they didn't get their coins from their ipo. "slavo" has been trying to build up a bit of a community, and seems to be doing some good. The guy that made a dice game for BlackCoin is going to release one for Blitz also, and I suspect a multipool for it may be in the works as well...

Looking at the blockchain explorer there are about 460 blocks left until BLTZ hits block 10k, which is supposedly the end. I havent checked the source code and the IPO post is a little vague but I assume there is a hard coded reward drop from 10k/block to 0/block. Hope we're not mining those blocks for long Smiley

Some squeeking in the BLTZ IPO thread that the "dev has disappeared, coin is dead", but I'm not sure what dev input they expect atm other than updating the post. In theory as long as there isnt a hard fork which requires a wallet update I guess the coin could continue without maintenance, as long as a little hashpower was provided for solving blocks so exchange txes can go through.

I would guess the price of WATER should be at least 1000 satoshis; block rewards are only 1000 coins.

This type of information is extremely helpful. Wish there was some sort of informal target price for each coin, like a "good - better - best" sort of range. The total values you've added are a great start and help me at least track changes in overall coin portfolio values. Am really looking forward to the split mining if that can be pulled off. Keep up the great work!

How about Bittrex? price atm 259sat and sells 390
Cool, I've used Bittrex before, it's American exchange, and seem pretty good although their volumes are lower.  It's going for about 309 bid there now so my 525 WATER is now worth about 75 cents Tongue I guess we all will continue to hold.

WATER is on Bittrex at 260-390, as Banch mentioned. But, that's a newer exchange which doesn't have a ton of volume overall, so prices are much lower for WATER than they otherwise should be at the moment.

Hmm, I'm not so sure what to think about water.. Based on the price at coin-swap,
it's not too profitable^^
Yeah seriously.  In my case.. 3MH/s for the last 10 hours... 525 WATER - 102 satoshi @ Coin Swap exchange.. that's like 25 cents USD.  I hope the price goes up when more reputable exchanges come online...
