UAE coin seems the only decent upcoming coin.

Looks like you're from UAE, right?  Roll Eyes
For me every coin except BTC, LTC, DOGE and VTC are just useless bits to mine and dump as soon as possible

ipominers,

Are you guys going to be adding that UAE Coin coming out at the end of the month. Seems the only decent upcoming coin. Only issue is that its X11

I have SGminer on my main PC, and my default config has two different pools set to "load balance", so it spreads the hash between them or if one fails it all goes to the other. I then use the "P" pool mgmt menu to add direct ports on IPOminer if I want to mine something different, and just manually disable/enable the other pools to redirect my hashpower. Could get advanced with pool quotas but I dont have enough hash to make it worthwhile Smiley

@ RentaMouse

oh i forgot to mention, sorry.
yes i am running a cgminer variant, sgminer.
and no, but i have the "load-balance" : true. i thought that this is the right command for me because i want to point my hashpower percentage wise to different pools.

maybe i really took the wrong command and i should use "Failover-only" : true.

Also thanks for the tip with saving the conf from within sgminer to see what changes, didn't know about that!

looked like i did it wrong or am i too impatient?

this is my pool-Failover-strategy:
{
      "quota" : "100;stratum+tcp://xxx.com:1111",
      "user" : "MyName",
      "pass" : "x"
   },
   {
      "quota" : "0;stratum+tcp://yyy.com:2222",
      "user" : "MyName",
      "pass" : "x"
   },
   {
      "quota" : "0;stratum+tcp://zzz.com:3333",
      "user" : "MyName",
      "pass" : "x"
   }

as ipominer was down for the announced 5 min my miner didn't Switch anywhere else. but as soon as ipominer came up again my miner started getting work.
anybody knows what i did wrong?

EDITED - got it slightly wrong first time Sad
Have you got a
Quote
"failover-only" : true
in your conf file? Failover is the default, but if you have failover-only enabled I think it only changes from the primary pool when it decides it is completely dead, not just lagging. Not entirely clear on how that is implemented, have a look at the cgminer readme for more info - http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/README

If you are running cgminer or variant of it you should be able to press "P" whilst its running to view your pool strategy and adjust accordingly, then you can save the config from within cgminer to see what it changes in your config file.

We need to reboot a server - you'll see ~5 minutes of downtime on both the site and the pool.

Okay, so it took 6 minutes.. Smiley Back up now! Apologies for the short notice on the downtime.

@Ilan1 WhiteCoin takes approximately 8.75 hours to confirm -- 350 blocks. That's what the coin requires.

Many thanks for all of your help, I was just confused about the block confirmation times etc, thanks for helping me understand.

Cheers

@Ilan1 I don't see you submitting shares on more recent blocks under your username "Ilan". Are you seeing accepted shares in your miner? Are you sure you are mining on pool.ipominer.com? What port?

Yes I am mining on IPO right now but I switched ports earlier this afternoon to mine Asia coin on 3433.
But I still have 800 WC coins stuck in an "unconfirmed" status from WC mining earlier today :-)

Cheers

Hi thank you very much for double checking, yes I thought it was short based on the hourly / daily estimates that were showing up.

Incidentally the last block I was paid out on was 7224 but a good number of block payments have been completed since then according to the list.
It appears that my payments are stuck!

can you check this please?

Thank you

@Ilan1 I've double checked them, everything looks fine. All the blocks and shares are listed on the site though if you want to take a look yourself though Smiley Check the https://www.ipominer.com/blocks?curr=wc page and you can look at every block that has ever been mined. What makes you say you think it is short.. the estimates displayed on the site? We're actually planning on removing the estimates, because on most coins the difficulty changes every block, often dramatically so, and the estimates are inherently flawed because they don't take past or future difficulty into account.

@Ilan1 Block scoring was delayed for ~2 hours this morning but all blocks have been processed -- you should have seen a bump in unconfirmed around 2 hours ago?

@nightengale I just replied to your email, but I think the issue you're seeing is just the dramatic fall in the price of WC from ~2000 satoshis on Sunday to ~1000 today.

Thank you, yes it did bump up to 800 WC from 250 WC as you say, however this still appears to be short to me, please can you double check my block shares v payout? many thanks

@ipominer - Thanks for the response, just got your email. Didn't realize the price had fallen that much. Thanks again.

The pool is solely based on shares, yes. You want to try to get your miner to produce the highest average "Work Units", which is number of difficulty 1 equivalent shares submitted per minute. The hashrate displayed in your miner is basically irrelevant -- shares are what matters.

Higher difficulty or lower will average out over time -- sometimes *too* high or *too* low will have negative consequences in terms of the number of shares you will submit, but anything even remotely close to what you should be using for your level of hashrate will probably work out just fine.

@ spoetnik

testing and tweaking won't proof us exact mathematical results i think. because of permanently changing coin-difficulty, sometimes Network issues (own side and/or Server side)...

for me i think that the pool is based on Shares. that's why my hashrate shown varies greatly all the time (when i started mining i've learnd that my MH/s in cgminer are worthless, the only counting Thing is the WU-rate because this is what the Server side can see). and hopefully the WU-rate is the indicator for submitted Shares - otherwise i have to learn more :-)

it makes sense that low difficulty = small amount of work that i receive = work solved fast = fast submitted share = fast know if my share is valid or invalid = fast payout.
but everywhere i look it says that this averages out (compared to high difficulty) over time. question is "how much time"? as said, my Little 2-day-test showed me no differences.
