Well, I suppose my CPU isn't doing anything else. I'll give solo mining a go for a couple of days. See if I hit a block. I'm guessing my chances are quite slim though.

Linux binary does not compile.  I would not trust this coin until his sourcecode compiles.
What trouble are you having compiling on Linux?  It compiled on Linux for us without any problems.  Are you missing dependencies?

make -f makefile.unix STATIC=1

For qt qmake and then make.

I will try a fresh pull and build from github, maybe some problem with line endings or something.

Does gui-miner scrypt work for this?
No. Use minerd from first post.

First post links to philospherstone qt which states to use cgminer...?

It points to the improved minerd for Quark

you actually just have to switch out the leveldb folder of particle with the one of quark or similar coin... then it should compile...
worked for me ...

cheers

Ok, so solo mining this on an overclocked i5 to 4.2ghz; when can I realistically expect to see a block?

What is this, an instamine?

Difficulty: 02:11:27 145.84729334

..in just over an hour n a half?

This mooncoin all over again.

Pretty sure it's not an instamine, the block totals seems rather accurate to his/her post when you account for adjustment.

This is a complete instamine! Half of the coins will be mined within the first few days. 620 mil of the 1000 mil total by block 20 000.

These coins are just worthless to mine in the long term. Difficulty goes up way too fast because too many people pile in at once.
