on CentOS, when ./configure CFLAGS="-O3", hava some errors like this:
./configure: line 5586: syntax error near unexpected token `,'
./configure: line 5586: `LIBCURL_CHECK_CONFIG(, 7.15.2, ,'

You might have to drop back to -O2, which is usually just as fast... Depends a bit on the compiler you have, this thing assumes a modern gcc.
However the error suggests there is something amiss with your libcurl, might have to look into that...

Yes you can. You set your rpcuser, rpcpassword, rpcallowip, server=1, rpcport (if you want) in your riecoin.conf and then point your miners to the ip address of your wallet.
