The current and very badly-timed network disruption notwithstanding, I just want to say:

Congrats, Gatra, and happy birthday to Riecoin! Smiley  Kind of awesome that prime k-tuples are still going strong four years later.

Someone trying to attack the network by forking like several times in the past?
The whale(s) doing that in order to panic the market (a crash just happened now)?
Or some misconfigured miners/wallet still producing/accepting 50 RIC blocks and messing up with the network?

It happened before the halvening and was repaired before, so it's probably botnet-related.

Problems. What is going on with the network? Last block solved an hour ago

There was a transient fork for 11 blocks - things are still going normally, and the halvening happened, but the block explorer isn't updating.  It will start again

Chain state database corruption likely.

We're at block 840008.  The fork ended at 839966, so the block explorer will be back to normal at 839966+72=840038.

Looks like the "All others" mining riecoin are forking the chain, lot of orphans these days.

I have a question since 2 or 3 years ago and it's: WHY?

Why all days i have 50k+ incoming connections trying to make xpoolx.com down?
Why is a person trying to fork the chain day by day?
Why is a person or persons doing that solomining in order to fork the chain?

In definitely, why this person hate riecoin and/or riecoin users?

In current times analyzing the project in general, the time of market, the all speculative and constructive comments here in the forum about Riecoin, and discarding the negative practice of bomb and dump, can we believe in the success of Riecoin in 2018? In my opinion with the total delivery of the project and some updates, is the way.

lets see what will happen soon Wink

Agreed.

I hope they pull through with what they have planned, as it would be something that would benefit Crypto in general, NOT just the speculators who want nothing to do with any of the plans except making themselves money. So fingers crossed Smiley

I did not put the Tongue emoticon for nothing dude... I just think that this coin deserves a better price, that's all
Sure, there is many thing we could do, but unfortunately, nobody seems to be motivated to do anything to improve this coin for the moment...

It is a VERY difficult codebase and Algo to work on.

This is why it is relatively 'stagnant' with regards to changes in the actual code itself. Though in saying that, the current incarnation of the code seems to work just fine, with little issue. So if any updates and upgrades are to be done, they need to improve what is already working in a stable manner.

Price is stable since a few days... I'm waiting for you, big whale! Pump this to $1 for the halvening!  Tongue

Why care so much about the price? I am pretty sure if you are looking for short term profit you are at the wrong place.

Let's focus what we can do to make this coin survive (and surviving the bear market means winner in the long run)

- mobile wallet?
- algorithm improvement?
- more exchange support?

Well i guess more miners joined just before the halving....you can actually confirm that by the number of workers at ublock.it that has increased significantly

Four of the top 10 largest prime constellations found by Riecoin since it launched in 2014 have been found in the last 2-3 weeks. If that's not proof that this project is humming along stronger than ever, I don't know what is.

Keep driving traders away, and in the long run you'll find yourself in new atl's.

It looks like we're still on track to hit higher lows, maybe you should zoom out.

And really now, how can devs prevent a whale from manipulating price  Huh

You need to keep in mind this coin uses a scientific PoW, in that regard it's doing very well, it's merely a geeky prime number coin. This is why you see most contributions to the project are around improvements in mining.

That being said, having more average people mining the coin would help create a more even distribution of new coins and reduce some of the whale manipulation we're seeing.

+this.  Riecoin is one of very few coins where advances in mining are actually cool.  For normal PoW functions, better mining means ... wasting computation more efficiently.

The Riecoin miner code formed the basis for finding new world-record length prime tuples.  Not super useful (which is good - as Satoshi noted, it's important for the individual solutions to the PoW to be worth money), but intellectually nice to have.  Better than knowing that hash(blah blah) = 0x000000..blahblah. Developers need an effort to promote the project to jump a step forward. But I know we shouldn't abandon riecoin , it's still hot and there's a potential for development, and the price is likely to break out at any time.

It looks like someone is trying to force dump the price. that doesn't help the credibility of your coin at all.

Welcome to a market economy. What can we do?
Actually devs can do a lot to suprvise their coin from these things.

You would rather own a coin that is manipulated by its devs rather than own/trade a coin that is completely free market and based on a scientific and mathematical proof of work?
I rather trade a coin that is managed well, and not every whale does whatever the hell he wants.
Those things make potential traders run away.

Are you suggesting that this coin is not managed well?

Since the market is not operating the way "you" would like it to, Perhaps you should find out exactly who the whales are and tell them to stop.
Make sure you use emoticons to convey your frustration with them.
I'm sure potential traders will come flocking to the coin once you do that.

Who cares about the traders? Traders are a disease of the banks. I care about the value of the coin and the people who want to own it and use it for commerce or applications for the long-run. The value remains the same even if some whale spends 100 BTC to move a coin without understanding it. In the long-run, he will be broke.
