I like this coin but the project seems dead... Website and wallet never have been updated since years. Sub Reddit is dead as well, filled with unrelated ads (account hacked?), Facebook dead since 2014, virtually nothing on Twitter (recently just a tweet of a Forbes article containing a mere mention of Riecoin and to inform that Poloniex fixed their Riecoin wallet)
They could at least upgrade the wallet so it integrates the latest Xptminer for efficient solo mining, and syncs automatically without having to add manually nodes.
There is no reason for hype, I think that this is just usual Pump & Dump and expect that this coin will return again to 600-1000 satoshies range, especially if Bitcoin continues to rise.
Unless if this changes, $1 or 10000 satoshies is just impossible now, and this project was never meant to be profitable.
I actually like this project with the concept of mining math and not useless hashes, and that CPUs can be used. This project deserves more interest, even more than clones like Bitcoin Cash or coins like Dogecoin.
But devs, please do some work to update your software and social media, and to promote the project so more people will join and help beating new records of prime sextuplets!
This has so much potential
I don't understand how them mining process works, i know is Proof of Work based but couldn't find out what is the difference between this coin and BTC? Can anyone explain in simple words?
With very simple words:
BTC: mine bitcoins by searching for hashes that begins with enough zeroes. More difficulty => hash must begin with more zeroes (be smaller). This is essentially a pure lottery because hashes generated are random, with odd of winning being smaller as difficulty rises
RIC: mine riecoins by searching for a number p, such that p is prime, and p+4, p+6, p+10, p+12, p+16 too (p is then the first prime of a prime sextuplet). p must also have a size that corresponds to the current difficulty (not too small and not too big), so more miners => more difficulty => greater prime sextuplets
We don't know if there are infinite prime sextuplets so if the difficulty ever becomes so high that nobody can find blocks anymore, then we could suppose that there is actually a finite number of prime sextuplets (very hypothetical example, I know, but hope that it helps to understand why the project could be useful)
Thanks for nodes it worked. Downloading blockchain now
As i can see wallet is old 3 years and there is no new development. Why price is rising now?
