2 billion coins in 150 years  Cheesy
I bet this coin not last three years.
Just look at the current crypto market that would understand the whole picture.
In any case, good luck to the developer and to collect more Bitcoins for the next puppets coins  Grin

DarkSilk has had the BIP30 checks removed which has led to a dramatic speed increase in syncing.

BIP34 is hardcoded.

SECP256K1 is also being implemented more thoroughly as well.

I want to apologize for the confusion I caused concerning the total money supply cap of Silk. It is indeed 2,000,0000,0000 SLK and I have corrected the data as well as the corresponding graph. The whitepaper is now updated to reflect the true total supply of Silk as well as it's inflation as you can see below:

Updated Whitepaper: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8r2g16ls5ug7eop/Silk%20Network%20Whitepaper%20December%202015.pdf?dl=0

.
I want to assure everyone that another oversight like this will not happen ever again.  Smiley

So how many coins in your system? on the first page of this forum there is no information about the algorithm and the number of coins in the system.

This isn't the actual thread for the Silk Network, Silk, DarkSilk & Weaver.

This is the old Silkcoin thread where we are just posting info for now.

Once the code is ready and the graphics etc. are produced for the new OP and thread, then all the information you talk of will be available.

No unfortunately users don't seem to even know their own coin, even though they have invested in it and have been using for however long.

Silkcoin code (old Silkcoin):

static const int64_t MAX_MONEY = 2000000000 * COIN;

2 billion coins.

Sadly I think Greg did his math based on 200,000,000 coins which is incorrect, Greg has only joined in the last few days and doesn't have any previous dealings with Silkcoin, so he isn't to blame.

New Silk code:

static const int64_t MAX_MONEY = 2000000000 * COIN; // 2,000,000,000 Total SLK

^^^ Same as the old Silkcoin ^^^

The code is open-source for a reason. Look at main.h of the majority of altcoins and you will see the MAX_MONEY value.

OrsonJ, please understand the difference between MAX_MONEY and the total coins that are CURRENTLY in circulation. There are ~44 million Silkcoin in circulation and 2,000,000,000 total is the max amount that can EVER be produced.

Not being rude, not directed at you OrsonJ, but I have had to answer this question over and over and over again.

I find it a bit odd that people are aware that Bitcoin will only ever have a certain amount of coins ever and people are aware of this, but when it comes to altcoins that understanding seems to fly out of the window.

It is a bit worrying that there are a huge amount of people investing in something they do not fully understand. In fact this is very worrying.

I offered a Skype call with everyone and a Google+ hangout but no one attended, it is quite obvious that people have questions and also need teaching and guidance.

Oh and yes, I have just woken up, wish I had never gone to sleep lol

That there will be a limit on supply is understood.
It's just that it feels counter intuitive to have a MAX_MONEY that goes far beyond our own lifespan.

I shouldnt have doubted the 2billion number, but frankly im not really concerned with this
151 years for 200 million or by the same formula 2 billion in almost 2000 years.
what is important is the fixed increase of 2SLK per block at a blocktime of 64s, i don't think i will live to see either number Tongue

I took the 2 billion total supply from the original Silkcoin as it is a relaunch/replacement. No one ever voiced to reduce the supply, however, PoS rewards have been changed and reduced.

I will get Greg to redo the graph and update where is needed accordingly.

So how many coins in your system? on the first page of this forum there is no information about the algorithm and the number of coins in the system.
Only bright pictures.

There will be a total of 90,000,000 DarkSilk and 2,000,000,000 Silk.

Here is the whitepaper: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8r2g16ls5ug7eop/Silk%20Network%20Whitepaper%20December%202015.pdf?dl=0

Why 2 billion silk when there's only currently 43 million silkcoin?

It has a static increase. Inflation rate is about 2% per year and decreasing.
it will take 151 years to reach 2 billion coins

correction paper says 200mln in 151 years
if the supply is capped at 2 billion coins that would take 1984 years. i can wait for that  Smiley

Yes, Silk is 200 million, not 2 billion. Sorry about that.

Hope you find the whitepaper informative.

Wow! Awesome job, team! I didn't realize there's four active devs on this project. Very impressive

Currently reviewing the paper and developing a list of questions I'd like clarification on. Will post once complete.

Keep up the great work! The future is going to be very exciting Smiley

Today I am assessing online cryptographic based systems/platforms, exchanges, services and their respective fees they charge users.

On top of this information I will be taking the Silk Network hosting costs etc. into account. This will allow me to finalise the fees within Weaver and update the whitepaper accordingly.

As the user base and use grows on Weaver, fees will be reduced across ALL account accordingly. This will be a yearly review.

Also an analytic paper is currently being written by Gregory Betz:

1. DarkSilk; Fully in-depth including ROI on Stormnodes, this will then let us gauge the pricing for hosting and leasing and adjust accordingly.

2. Silk; Again fully in depth, but also with comparisons to Silkcoin if we hadn't of done the swap and left it with its original parameters.

Please bear in mind DarkSilk is based on fact and theory because it hasn't hit market and attained a price.

However Gregory will be using econometric techniques to forecast ROI and prices with as little margin of error as possible, given the volatility of all the variables involved.

The new DarkSilk splashcreen looks pretty awesome!

Pretty dark (black) too.
I can't believe you people are still around you were dead and reborn quite a few times! Is this just another life or it's life?
Will try to follow if I can.

I remember I bought and trade some silkcoin when it was still SC on bittrex... it seemed a very nice coin.

It is a very nice coin
and with the new DarkSilk they will be even nicer

I too think the Splashscreen  it's a bit dark
like bhokor said enhancing the contrast between the embossed scorpion and the background will do

I also do think the splash screen is not visually appealing to the eye. Maybe if you were to do something a little more simpler, it just seems like there is too much going on there. Especially the bars sticking out from the side.

Just my two cents.

I've spoken to the graphic designer to increase the contrast. Awaiting results.
