Price is sinking which seems really odd after all the updates and information on coming updates  Huh

Now would be the time to buy more SLG I suppose.

The only option I have is to remove the desktop shortcut which I am doing as we speak from both the full and lite editions of the 1.2.0.0 wallet installers for Windows.

EDIT: Lite Edition now updated and Desktop shortcut has been removed. Now editing Bitbucket, GitHub, SourceForge and CNET with new Full Edition 1.2.0.0 Installer with Desktop shortcut removed.

EDIT: All website links to Windows Installers are now up to date, GitHub, BitBucket and SourceForge are also up to date with the new installer, just CNET to go.

CNET upload submitted. They normally get it processed quite fast (within 24 hours).

Heads up people ! Shocked

It seem very suspicious how the installer is set to create a desktop shortcut for your "public" folder.

@ dev(s) WTF is up with that !?

The installer places a shortcut on the user desktop and the start menu to the Sterlingcoin-qt.exe

It isn't a shortcut to the hidden data folder or your public folder.

For Version 1.3.0.0 we can remove the shortcut that get placed there if its a cause for concern.

(We thought having shortcuts placed in the start menu and on the desktop was making peoples lives easier)

p.s. there is nothing up with that  Cheesy

This is the first and only one that I've come across, which has been purposely set to use the Public Desktop. The fact that you are trying to brush this off, is cause for more concern.

Do I/we really need to explain how easy it would be for an attacker to steal your QT's password/phrase and coins ?

Could this be why you chose to go with the Windows installer ? eg. the previous version was a .zip file.

We are not trying to brush it off at all, we just have no ill intent.

We made the installer to make it easier for people who aren't technically minded.

However now you have brought this to our attention we will amend this straightaway.

Also as you can see below, the installer application option for placing the shortcut on the desktop is simply named "Desktop" not public or otherwise.

just had an idea, haven't thought it through yet,  I was thinking about some sort of community wallet for staking purposes. We could decide on an equal amount each to stake to secure the network, sort of like a multipool but with no payouts, well not regular payouts, obviously your coins would be returned on request with added intrest. Would take some coins off the market too. Any thoughts?

The words "community wallet for staking purposes" just screams bad idea to me.

But a community wallet could be setup for donations directly to the developers.. Don't forget, they need to eat too. Smiley

Excuse, me but arent you the britcoindev? Is there some sort of cooperation now?

Sorry, I am sure that has been answered before, but I havent followed those coins lately and the answer must be burried somewhere.

William the Britcoin developer is simply an avid supporter of Sterlingcoin. Nothing more.

I was gonna suggest that the devs manage the wallet, of course it takes trust but if we cant trust the devs (I think we can) then were damned anyway. I say 5000/10000 coins each, id be willing to never get those coins back and just receive a stake every so often but its not just me. Anyone?

Ready to try it, it would only be 10000 coins anyways Smiley (thats what the guy said that bought pizza with bitcoins... 10000 btcs for pizza).

Sure we could come up with a nice page to display balance, network weight, current stake made so far etc.

a community wallet for the developers is a good idea but it should be a btc one, I don't think the devs should be dumping slg for food.

why would the staking wallet be bad? (I am a noob and realise I could have missed the obvious here)

What we could do once staking is added to the online wallet system is have a community wallet there. With access via the development team. Of course this requires trust.
