Super idea! We should suggest it to the dev. Otherwise everyone scares off if the next block reward happens to be < 5 TACs.

I would not mine this coin if there was not block reward voting. Other coins have chatting too, not true p2p chatting, but to the end user it looks similar. The block reward voting is a big reason why I like Talkcoin.

My opinion. I'm agree with you. The voting system is great, but use it for the reward is not really good idea for the coin. When miners are happy, inverstors are worry about buy; and when inverstors are happy, miners are worry about to mine... Because in some days the reward could have a radical change up to 50 times difference.

I think would be interesting to change that, in my opinion the best would be set reward in 25, or in the average until now. And since then begin with a halving, until the coin become POS. Because nobody will mine forever an altcoin.. and POS is great for this coin because we aways have opened the wallet for the chat, so it will be a way to mint coins at the same time.
I also propose POB, would be a great idea for this coin, as slimcoin do: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-slimcoin-proof-of-burn-new-block-gen-mineable-by-low-power-computer-613213 In our coin, in talkcoin, the coins used for the chat would be the burned coins, and the people more active in the chat will be the people that have more possibilites of find a POB block. We should call it POC, proof of chat. We would need a relaunch for that, but from my point of view, with these 2 things, the coin would gain too much interest:

1- Set a default reward, and halving until finnish the POW phase.
2- After POW, use POS and POC to generate coins.

PoS is a neat feature, because we would need to open the wallet a lot of time now. PoB is very interesting idea too but it's still too buggy now. I think it would be risky to implement it right now. PoS is more stable.
Relaunch would a thing that we need to discuss more, it's plenty risky too.
I think the first thing to do is get rid of the voting system and change the block reward to 25 TAC. Devs have a lot of things to do so we could not suggest a lot of changes at once.

I tell you what Amph. Talkcoin is like JPC in term of nVidia vs AMD.
JPC miner for both is not optimize and so Talkminer. Try it to mine TAC and you will surprise, the profit of TAC is on the same level as JPC last 4 days. Of course now there are not much buy order like JPC when it first came out, but remember TAC is only 4 days at exchange.

I read the ann thread and had a fishy feeling about things, like it was another BANK, DRM or Liberty scam promising anon that would never happen. I went out had some drinks, thought about it more, came home and dumped the remaining 6k at 10k sats.
Classic case of sticking with your gut, which I wish more than anything right now I could go back and do it over. I ended up going back in at 100k and sleeping through the crash, my 3 btc profit should have been at least 50 btc. Very tough lesson.

Well I never take JPC seriously to be honest. That coin is so so like a joke. Sorry some JPC holders in this thread but it is the reason I don't think that coin would go anywhere. So I have mined almost 50mil JPC in total and dumped for around 4BTC in total. Yeah big mistake. But what I learn from this mistake is if a coin is backed by a whale (or a few), it could be explode. Maybe it could not make bank for you, but earning more than 10 BTCs is possible.
Right now TAC isn't still backed by any whale, so its potential is very big. So Im still accumulating many TACs as possible and waiting for this opportunity.

I hope so, I have 1 system which is completely unstable with current miner (30min best run), and another which can run for several hours before crashing...and third which can run 24/7 and no problems at all. weird.
