just tried solo mining, got just 1 block in 2 hours.  i guess hemppool is the best option right now.

any good pointers to faucets?  or good easy faucet code i can try to make my own?

There is no faucet yet for hempcoin. If you make one I will donation coins to it. I have no idea which open source faucet project is the best to use.

I mined on coinswim a couple days ago for about 6 hours with my 280x and didn't find a block. There were only 3 other miners and combined they had about 300 khs.

is there something wrong with thc.coinswim.com?  i mined there all night and didn't get any thc.

guess hemppool is the only place to mine?

how are the results of solo mining?

Solo mining works well! For each 50kh/s that you have you should find 1 block every day. A 280x will find 15 blocks a day. It is a good chance to practice solo mining.

http://www.hemppool.org works the best. It is the official pool so even if it has overwhelming hash power, which it doesn't, there shouldn't be a huge problem.

http://thc.mine-coin.de/ << is what I use as my first --failover pool and then coinswim as the third.

You should look at the "Blocks" tab on every pool and check out there stats before you mine it. There is definitely something wrong with that pool if you didn't find a block throughout the night and you have a 280x card.

just found out about this coin.  will be putting my 1.5 mhs here and joining you guys for a bit.

hemp really is what it is all about.

Hey,

Welcome and congratulation on finding Hempcoin so early on in its existence. I started mining Hempcoin 2 days ago. I love the amount of coins I can get every day and there is maximum of only 250,000,000 hempcoins to be mined!

Vote it up on mintpal when you have time. I am voting for it quite often.

Hempcoin uses:

OpenSSL 1.0.1e 11 Feb 2013 << heartbleed exploit exists but can be prevented through OS patches (better than all the other altcoins that use earlier versions of OpenSSL).

Will this be updated soon? It will be better for the coin if the devs can upgrade to OpenSSL 1.0.1f.

Would this coin be open to switching from scrypt to x11 while it is still a young coin? x11 is so quiet and saves energy. It is a popular algorithm and should bring a lot of new miners.

I'm all for this.

Hey,

I am new to this coin and have to admit it is the amazing so far. This coin is my chance to be a millionaire and support the hemp community! It's a WIN in every way possible. I have turned all my miners towards it. Since the difficulty is low I can actually mine enough of them for me and lots to give away to friends and family.

There are only 250,000,000 coins so only 4 times as many as LTC and way less than the other hemp/pot related coins.

I like potcoin and hope it does amazingly well but this coin feels more like I am getting in at the ground level. Like a found a secret coin. PotCoin is already one of the top 50 coins.

This is a stupid reason to like a coin but I love the abbreviation of THC.

I am willing to help out this community and spread the word on earth day and 420.

Hemp should be more widely used. It can even be used in cement instead of chemicals.

NICE! It looks like the THC secret is spreading its seeds throughout the world.

Does it make a difference on the network if people mine in a pool or solo?

There is no difference.

in order to engage PoS minting, the coins have to remain unmoved for the set period, (45 Day Coin Age Requirement for 5% Stake (Growing Season) Season lasts for 45 additional days and then can be started again) so moving coins from wallet to wallet won't work. for good results, run your wallet for a few hrs every week or 2, that way you get compounding
for better results, run longer + more often as the larger blocks become smaller as time goes on...

The latest wallet now has a "Growing" feature which will increase the total amount of coins available. 250,000,000 is the total coins to be mined.

I have yet to "grow" any hempcoin but what it says is that after 45 days growing starts and is completed 45 days after that.

I am not sure if this feature works with paper wallets but if it does you could make a paper wallet at http://hempcoin-paper-wallet.github.io/hempcoin-paper-wallet/ and use it like a savings bond. Store it for 2 years and your coins will go through 8 growing cycles.

Could someone confirm that "growing" will work with paper wallets? You do not have to have your qt wallet open all the time to grow do you? I am wondering about this because I locked my wallet and it says "Info: Minting suspended due to locked wallet".

growing = proof of stake

Offline paper wallets should qualify as the interest is based on coin age, but you may have to import the private key to gain the interest.  Then maybe send it back to a new paper wallet again so it's safely stored offline.

I have some Hempcoins in a paper wallet, an encrypted wallet, and an open wallet. I will let everyone know how the growing is going after 90 days. There better be a block explorer by then so I can see my paper wallet balances.
