Can someone post a step-by-step procedure on how to stake with the CLI?

all you have to do is unlock the wallet:   walletpassphrase 9999999 true (hit [Enter])

where 9999999 = the number of seconds that you want the wallet to remain open, and the 'true' indicates that the unlock function is applied for staking only (if you put 'false' the wallet will remain completely unlocked for the specified time).

th lock the wallet Enter: walletlock

to see a list of all available commands Enter: help

Can somebody explain how those masternodes will work ? If you want to run multiple masternodes will multiple wallets be needed, do the need to run on dedicated ip addresses ? Stuff like that :-)
I would also love p2pool software, can be forked from p2pool x11 i suppose.
How about the mining on mining-pool.nl ?

Jan. 26th they will release masternode specs.
As far as the wallets, you should only need your one wallet.  But, inside that walled you will create new 'receiving addresses'.  Each one of these new address inside your wallet, you will send a transaction of 20,000 coins.  The transaction ID generated by this transaction essentially unlocks the masternode.  So, lets say you want to run 3 masternodes, you would create 3 extra receiving addresses in your wallet and send 20,000 coins to each one.
The masternode needs to be on 24/7, and for this reason virtual servers (VPS) are commonly used.  Vultr.com is a common site people use that provides this service.
Hope this kinda helps, but we should know soon enough.
Since the price is low right now if people are thinking about buying enough HempCoin for a masternode, now is the time!  Cool

I don't understand how you know your coins are safe on an external server?

I dont quite understand how you could ask that question if you read the above post.
(Disclaimer:I am pretty new and don't have any MN yet)
As I understand it - possibly not 100% accurate, - You link your wallet under your control on your PC to the MN server. The coins don't leave your PC or your control. The masternode handles the transactions and send the reward to your wallet. So you dont have to worry about your coins being safe on an external server because they aren't.
Hope this helps!

I didn't realize the virtual server was a cloud server. I would assume the MN server is not running as of yet? I am new to this as well, Thanks!

If you guys are interested in masternodes (you should be) there are great master node tutorials for various coins on youtube.  Watching those would give you an idea of what is actually going on.  I didn't have the slightest clue until I began to dabble in masternodes.  HempCoin's masternode worth is relatively cheap at the moment (20,000 x .40 = $8000perMN) compared to how expensive it will be when $THC reaches $1 and beyond.  Cool

Sorry I haven't replied to any comments on the link I posted for the sync update. I rarely use bitcointalk (tbh I made the account just to post the link and haven't come back yet) as I'm pretty busy between work, moderating the subreddit, and just having a life Tongue Either way, I've seen a few posts about things that were either incorrect or just asking for help.

Well, for starters here is a short list of things I'm going to try to cover/answer here

1. How to quickly sync your wallet - for those who are still having issues
2. Where can you mine THC currently
3. Masternode info
4. Info pertaining to the upcoming hardfork
5. A link to our subreddit for those who would like to chat there and join our little community

1.  So, I saw quite a few posts about how to get your wallet to sync and I've noticed that With The Lemons has either created their own wallet or linked an updated wallet (just got home and really don't feel like taking the time to look into which ever it is, sorry for the laziness) and that seems to resolve quite a few issues, however, if you would still prefer to use the older/other wallet my instructions should still hold true and I'll post them here rather than just a link to my post:

"This file may only work on Windows as that's the system I am using. Also, I would highly recommend backing up your wallet before importing this as if it causes errors you always want to have a backup point. Below I'll cover how to install this and get yourself synchronized in an hour or so.

  • Firstly, download the file.
  • Make sure you have closed the wallet (program)
  • Navigate to C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Hempcoin
    • The "AppData" folder may be hidden by default, I've added instructions below on how to get to it if it is hidden on your PC
  • Before you do anything else, copy all these files to a safe location as a backup (Desktop or My Documents work fine)
  • Open the previously downloaded file with a program like WinZip
  • Extract the files to the location you just found (C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Hempcoin)
  • It should ask if you would like to overwrite the files, say yes
  • Now that's all that you should have to do, you should be able to open the wallet again and it should only have maybe a few blocks to sync (depending on when you do this, the further from posting date the more syncing to do)
Now, if you open the wallet and for some reason, it doesn't work, then all you should have to do is copy the files you backed up back to where you got them and overwrite the ones you just put there.

Know that by following this tutorial you assume all the risk, and I am not responsible for any issues that arise.

AppData folder Instructions:

  • press CTRL+R (this should pop up a small window called "Run" in the corner of your screen
  • type %appdata% and hit the enter key (this should open file explorer and bring you to C:\Users\yourusername\Appdata\
  • Find the folder here named "Hempcoin" (it might be thehempcoin or hempcoin wallet)
  • Now continue with the instructions and copy the files to this location, then restart your wallet and it should show something like 100-200 files to sync as opposed to 2,000,000+"

2.  Currently, the only place that I am aware of (and I think anyone else on our sub) is mining-dutch however, in trying to reach their website to verify what I am posting it looks like that right now, their server blew a cooling system so it is down for a bit, however it does say mining will resume tommorow (as of posting it is Jan 24th at 7pm) Nevertheless their website is: https://www.mining-dutch.nl/ and I have personally mined a few THC there, however, due to their algo its not as profitable as other coins so I mine an alt and trade to THC.

3.  Now, onto info about their masternodes. So far unless I have missed something, the only info we have is that a masternode will require 20,000THC to be run. Just to confirm as I've seen here and plenty of other places that the masternode will be 10,000 or 50,000... However, the only confirmed number from the devteam is 20,000THC. Hope this clears some stuff up

4.  Bear with me here, we are getting to the end Tongue Now, about this hardfork. I would really like to clear a few things up, granted I'm in no way associated with the devteam besides that I have talked with them but I seem to see plenty of rumours flying around about when we are having this fork...

I can understand why, seeing as there hasn't exactly been tons of info coming out about it but I'm going to assume that it's down to the devteam just being too busy coding and working to make sure we have a smooth fork instead of sitting on Twitter. Personally, I'd rather wait and have the team 100% ready for the fork instead of just forking ASAP because the public wants it and having it go less smooth. I digress, I have strayed from my point and that is as follows:

Loads of comments on reddit, twitter, and here all seem to be saying that the fork is on either January 26th or 31st, however I can assure you, that is incorrect (at least the 26th is wrong, not sure about 31st however). Anyways, the reasoning is usually that the posts on the coin radar or coin calendar all say that they are forking on Jan 31st, and that is true, however, everyone forgets, these websites are usually based on information posted by the community. The devteam doesn't post this info and as great as we are as a community, sometimes we misinterpret things. The 31st is the last day of January so someone posted on one of the coin calendar websites that we will be forking ON January 31st, however, the 31st is just the deadline based on a previous tweet saying "hard fork IN Jan". Second, the date of the 26th is 100% wrong and the dev has actually confirmed this in a message I got a while back saying the 26th is merely an update about the fork, not the date of the fork.

Personally, I'm hoping that all this pressure from the community doesn't force them to fork too early and before they're ready or else we could be looking at some pretty significant issues. I'd prefer to just wait, and let them get their ducks in a row and continue. One of the devs has mentioned that they left the coin years ago due and has since returned seeing that we have taken off and also considering the new opinions in the market involving hemp and marijuana as a whole and I would hate to see a team who isn't ready to fork, do it just because of the community. I'd say let them get their programming and code working as they would like and then have a fork. Forking is usually great for the coin and a sign of updates and changes, however loads of coins end up failing due to a fork and seeing the kind of weight that we are carrying as the THC community, I would hate to lose all of that because of forking too early, right?

5.  At least this section is easy, right?

http://reddit.com/r/thehempcoin

Feel free to checkout our sub, leave a comment if you'd like and stay tuned! I've got a bot(I say bot, but in all honesty its just an IFTTT profile that I used... in the effort of being transparent I thought id share that I guess...) that will automatically post all the tweets from the devteam so if there are updates, you should see them on the subreddit almost immediately too!

First time I see this coin that would represent the hemp industry. Do you have any marketing bounties or gimmicks that would make us earn your coin, or maybe work for coin schemes instead of buying it? I am interested.

Cool
