Bittrex announced Universitycoin will be delisted on July 11th.   They have asked the university devs to contact them to prevent delisting.

Please contact Bittrex ASAP.    This is the best alt coin exchange and they will keep coins with developer involvement, so please contact them ASAP and show them UVC lives on!!!

More info here:  https://bittrex.com/News

Also Poloniex is delisting UVC on July 10th.

July 6th Update:

Hello All,

We wanted to do a press release to ease a bit of the tension regarding the holiday weekend price drop. I also wanted to address the lack of updates that we have put out over the last month.

So, let's start with the price drop. As far as we can tell it looks like more larger UVC holders have settled with the current price and we have seen a steady decline due to a general lack of interest. Many holders in the crypto market have shorter attention spans and this creates a perfect environment for coin makers to make a quick buck off weary investors. This unfortunately was the case with this coin's launch. What is so unique about UniversityCoin was the fact that despite the hullabaloo, the original developers made a extremely stable POW then POS coin. The new development team has been graced with this as we came on board with much to learn. I personally didn't know anything about the back-end code when I started the project. I was just a Student with a knack for marketing and a dream of owning his own coin.  Now with most of the people losing interest and moving to faster developing coins with new and mostly unneeded features we see a decline in the price of UVC.

Honestly, we are still learning what all needs to be done in order to keep this coin running as stable as possible. We absolutely look to the community for feedback and your comments to let us know how we are doing. I wish we could give you more and faster updates but I personally see something more for this coin. Every new coin will add little niche features that users will embrace and then drop weeks later. But you know what people won't drop for the flavor of the moment? Infrastructure. Bitcoin does so well because everybody is willing to make it a real currency with real fiat capabilities, such as merchant processing and ATM support. Bitcoin also does well for a variety of other reasons but we won't delve into that now.

My vision is to have UniversityCoin start as a Crypto that ushers in more and more students to cryptocurrency as a whole. Not just UVC. We are working diligently to self teach ourselves ways of integrating more features into the UVC wallet along with my end, which is working on the genuine fiat part of UVC.

Brian our lead application dev has been working his butt off setting up testing environments so that he can move forward with more updates on the wallet structure.

I understand that we have only put out a small update within the last month, but I assure you we want to do so much more. It took this long to take over and attempt a repair of all of the damage that has happened from the previous developers.

Personally, I believe that we are at an incredibly better position than we were a month ago and I would really like to ask you for your patience and to believe in us, just as we believed in UVC when we took it over.

Things you can do to help:

Trade UVC on Polo and Bittrex: we need the trade volumes to go up! Or we may lose the exchanges.
Refer anyone you know who can help us with the project! We need all the help we can get
Tweet about us!
Stay diligent with UVC news!

Thanks for the update and explanation.

Too many coins come and go. Yes, most of them are scams. However, even the currently "successful, not scam" coins might not last long if their devs care only technical innovations (or other stuff), instead of the connection to the real-world, daily business. Those coins will be dead because there is no where for them to go. And... their technical innovations? Easy, don't forget we are in an open source world here. Useful, meaningful technical innovations will be absorbed without any problem by the coins with strong connections to the real-world business. A quick example: Bitcoin with darknet. Any "anon" coin which has to reach the real-world via Bitcoin will be killed by Bitcoin itself going to anon.

I am glad the UVC team see this and hope that UVC connects to some kind of business soon.

Thanks for your support, it's people like you with insight that will help us stay with the times.

Also, my miners arrived in the mail today. All are pointed at www.chunkypools.com/uvc !!

It's only 1.5 mh/s but everything helps, you all should do the same if you want daily payouts in UVC!

How is selling 1.2 million for 100 showing patience? they cost nearer 2000 a short while back when we were buying in.

On the off chance you aren't a native English speaker, I'll point out the the construction "none sold for less than 100" is not semantically equivalent to "all sold for 100".  Less than 10% sold for 100-125, and more than 50% sold for over 200 satoshi.  Almost all of my purchased coins were bought between 50 and 100 satoshi, so I'd say I showed excellent patience, and netted a nice profit.

But, hey, keep on blaming the devs for trying to resurrect UVC.  I'm sure that'll help you feel better, at least.

I've been collecting quite a wallet full of UVC.

Makes one ponder: How many is too many? What percentage of UVC, or any coin, is too much for one owner and ends up being detrimental to the economy of the coin?  Thoughts?

Struggling to get the windows 2.0 wallet to sync? Any ideas?

Also tried the mac wallet out but it just doesn't open. App icon pops into doc for a split second then disappears?

All three flavors of the wallet (four if you include UniversityCoind running on our cloud)  freeze at block 20147 (the POW-> POS cut-over block) it will freeze a few more times up to block 22,000. After that, I have had it sync all the way without restarting, but a couple more restarts end up happening due to lack of patience. Takes about a day to get through it.

The MAC wallet is compiled for OSX 10.9, is that where you are?

Please let me know how this turns out.

Very disappointed with the current UVC dev team. The price was less than 100 sat before you guys took over and now it's back to <100 sat. Heavy loss for me as I bought again at 300-400 sat. I would not had much loss if I did not fall for the new revised website and empty promises. Maybe you wanted to offload your bag.

Not a dev here, but I have sold in excess of 1.2 million UVC on Bittrex and Poloniex since 6/1, and not ONE has been for under 100 satoshi.  How is your impatience the devs' fault?

What's your point to support UVC? Why would you sell your coins if you believed in UVC? New UVC dev team took over this coin  a month back and I was waiting all these days with hope only to find out very minor wallet update and a mac wallet. I donated some coins to the general fund. There is LOT Of plans from the new team, but none of them implemented in this one month. I am not here to make a quick buck as the dev commented. You can not be right if you are taking one month to come up with silly update and not able to keep the momentum and trust. There are loads of new coins coming out every week and its a big fail if the team is taking their own time citing personal reasons. It would have been better if the coin died when the first team abandoned it. The market speaks for itself. what a waste.

Every single coin I have sold has been profitable, thanks to the devs getting the price back up over 100.  Do I wish it was higher?  Of course.  But every sale needs a buyer, and there isn't much buy support for prices above 100 right now.  I am hopeful that will change soon, but I'm not privy to their efforts.  So I'm just continuing to mine and trade, like I have all month.

This project has great potential. I think you should contact more universities regarding this. Imagine if even 10 american universities start to support this initiative, this will reach to a very wide audience.
You should start to think something unique to add to this coin, otherwise it's going down the drain really fast even if it has very few coins. I will keep an eye on this Smiley

I don't think our promises have been empty.

My bag hasn't been touched since I started this project. Still staking away while we work on improving this coin. Sorry you couldn't make a quick buck.

On another note the mac wallet has been released tonight!
Thank your work~~~!!!
