Total number is infinite (technically). There is a cap of 1 coin per block and the halving won't go beyond that.
At block 486000 (originally intended to be 2.3 years in future, but considering the diff change algorithm, it'll be much sooner) there will be 7973437.5 coins and then the coin supply will increase from that point 576 coins a day forever. There will be 30000000 coins in about 100 years, though I doubt this coin survives that long
