Since months I have been buying and following XCP. At the moment my faith in succes is getting lower and lower. Being a technical noob myself, I can only come to the conclusion; XCP is way to technically complicated for the regular human being to become a big succes.

Actually, I believe with counterparty we're not even at the tip of the iceberg. Keep an eye out on some of some of the forthcoming developments like vennd.

He says he placed two buy orders for two tokens and one of the orders ate his btc

Try to ask him exactly what he did in his own words. It doesn't quite sound right.

I looked at the blockchain and blockscan.

Am I to assume he sent the BTC to his own wallet instead of trying to buy my token and he is now trying to scam me for BTC or tokens and scapegoat the software counterwallet

So is there a way to look at the scrips in counterwallet to see blocks can info to see what user did with their funds.

Look forward to the crowdsale Cheesy

Swarm "Indications of Interest" is now full. Thanks for the interest from all sides. We also are happy to be XCP holders and look forward to building up the ecosystem around Counterparty.

Ok, thanks.

Kind of disappointing that it must be a URL and not live entirely within the XCP protocol.  I understand the need/desire for metadata, but there are some bets that are fairly simple and IMO should be able to fit within the constraints of a simple Text Label and Value pair, given that certain metadata (date/timestamp etc.) is embedded by nature of the protocol anyway.  Also, the need to specify an end date or recurring interval is kind of iffy for Bitcoin Difficulty, since each interval could be anywhere from 10 to 16 days, although generally it has been in the 11-13 day range lately.

All of the information actually relevant to bets and their resolution is entirely in the protocol. All of the promises and predictions stored in the extended asset info JSON are entirely unenforcable and independent of the parsing, so counterpartyd completely ignores the 'text' field, (unless it is equal to 'lock'). You can put anything you want in there.

I dont know if this is the correct topic but regarding swarm kind of ipo i think the second phase is ridiculous, 17,000 btcs will not be fulfilled and less chance if they dont reveal technical aspecs, they only say this will be a awesome coin, project, bla bla but dont say why.

It's entirely possible to implement something like satoshidice or other betting types using fully peer-to-peer technology. Counterparty has all the fundamentals laid out already. I'm pretty sure we will be seeing something like that in the future. So far the development of the counterparty protocol has exceeded my expectations, and I don't see a foreseeable reason why that would change.

My friend lost .2 BTC to a cursor error the BTC he was going to use to buy my SEBUH token is gone to some address.

We were using counterwallet.co

https://blockchain.info/address/1MQCmk2ghkk6f79kuHb6gCcPrJSmTsmMQ2

Is is address.

You can see early on .2 was moved to.
https://blockchain.info/address/1KDGyge2b9A8bnk9XxxAWYH3ijLeU5exnw

What's up with that?

I don't understand your problem. What's a 'cursor error'?

Cross-posted from official forums:

Attention: v9.24.2 of counterpartyd fixes a bug in the version checking function, so all users are required to upgrade their counterpartyd to the latest version manually, or they run the risk of running an old, incompatible version without being warned about it.

Also, I just pushed v9.25.0 to develop. This update has a lot of goodies packed into it, including the removal of the issuance fee for all issuances after the first, and the inclusion of the ability to change the amount of BTC sent along with any other asset on a per-tx basis (which feature will soon be integrated into Counterwallet). Also, now orders that compose expired order matches will rematch other orders as appropriate. This should improve the liquidity of the BTC distributed exchange measurably. All of these protocol changes go live with block 310000 on mainnet; they are retroactive on testnet (as usual). We're going to test these improvements out over the next couple of days, and merge the updates into master soon. Please see the CHANGELOG and the commit log for details.

Even bigger, more dramatic changes are on their way soon: totally new, completely revolutionary functionality for Counterparty and Counterwallet that everyone will be able to benefit from and use. Stay tuned! Smiley

You right. It's on our todo list to manage feed address without json url. We have not yet defined the text broadcast format.

Also, the need to specify an end date or recurring interval is kind of iffy for Bitcoin Difficulty, since each interval could be anywhere from 10 to 16 days, although generally it has been in the 11-13 day range lately.

You must define the deadline before the bet, but you can broadcast the result after the deadline when the difficulty changes.

Deadline shouldn't be required for a CFD type feed?

A concern about the 0.2 mBTC fees:

I'm very impressed by XCP. I've issued shares and made some bets in Counterwallet (for testing) and all works well. As I've understood, every action made in XCP is actually a transaction in BTC. Some metadata is embedded in the BTC transaction, which then can be interpreted by any XCP client. The cost of any action is 0.2 mBTC, it seems. That's only about $0.12, but after placing several bets, canceling some of them, etc it really adds up.

My questions:
1. Is the above description correct?
2. Why is the fee 0.2 mBTC? Isn't the the new standard 0.01 mBTC per kB?
3. May another XCP wallet implement a lower fee?
