Just put my ancient 3.8ghz e8400 C2D to work.  I used gethashespersec and got 41562. Does that mean 41.5kh/s or 4.15kh/s  Roll Eyes

Hi,
And where do you see the accepted or orphan blocks, because i am mining for 40 min., the wallet is in sync and i have no idea if i found a block or not.
BTW, the list of commands for the console is here:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Original_Bitcoin_client/API_calls_list

have a look under the transactions tab on the  main client, it will show your generated coins and if they are confirmed yet or not!

do we need it to be synced 100% to make sure these coins mature?

No. If you find a block that doesn't orphan you will get credited.

ahh cool, yea its getting less and less synced by the minute lol
listsinceblock is looking good tho
