Hello CPU Miners! Just released v4.1.9 of the YadaCoin core. This update dramatically simplifies bootstrapping a node. I've removed systemd from the setup script and made several improvements to the syncing algorithm. I am now happy to say that we have brand new nodes that synced from 0 height without any errors. Thank @NCTRL on discord for his reports over the weekend!  We really got it done.

If you want to do some solo mining, this would be the version!

Just released v4.1.6 of the YadaCoin core. This update fixes bugs in the generation of a new config. I've also enhanced the console output to explicitly state the node, pool, web server, and wallet information.

pool?Huh
You can download the miner and it comes pre-configured to mine the yadacoin.io pool.
https://yadacoin.io/pool-guide

There are currently a handful of miners. Blocks average just under 10 minutes, 50 coins per block. 1% pool take. People are getting hundreds of coins per day.

I just released v4.1.0 of the YadaCoin core. This is by-far the most stable release to-date. Currently, there are multiple miners and nodes on the network and all stay perfectly in sync.

As you know, I've been mostly focused on the social protocol since this project's inception, and there have been outstanding issues with the network itself. I'm thrilled to say the issues have been resolved and am now letting out a deep sigh knowing that YadaCoin has finally entered a new era of network stability.

I have big plans that will take advantage of this new, robust system.

Go take this new version for a spin, I'm very proud of it.

Okay,

I tried this coin about 2 years ago, and never managed to install it...
So 2 years on, i see it has had a major update, so i thought "what the heck" lets try again...

Hmmmm, i should have learned the first time.

I'm using a clean Win 10 install, fully updated.

so we start here
https://yadacoin.io/download
this leads to 3 simple instructions - so any one can install this wallet...right?

1) Install MongoDB.
clicking on this link takes you here -
"https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/administration/install-community/"

I'm on windows, so i click "install on windows" - this leads to here -
"https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/tutorial/install-mongodb-on-windows/"

scrolling down i finally get to "MongoDB download centre" which leads to
"https://www.mongodb.com/try/download/community?tck=docs_server"
this gets me to
"https://fastdl.mongodb.org/windows/mongodb-windows-x86_64-4.4.3-signed.msi" and i have a downloaded file (mongodb-windows-x86_64-4.4.3-signed.msi)....

Keeping up, awesome so far...

Lets run the file
install
Welcome to the MongoDB 4.4.3 2008R2Plus SSL (64 bit) Setup Wizard
Lets choose the default option - COMPLETE
Install MongoD as a service (Network) is ticked
Then asks Install MongoDB Compass (Default is YES) , so i choose to keep the defaults, and then a Pop-up screen (MongoDB Compass - Connect) asks for NEW Connection....gives me the option to create Free New Cluster with MomgoDB Atlas --- WTF

No clue, so i uninstall, reboot, and start again
This time i untick the "Install MangoDN Compass" and it seems to install (needs reboot)

onto step 2
2) Install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package.

leads to
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0

3 options + various Service Packs
1) Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019
2) Visual Studio 2013 (VC++ 12.0)
3) Visual Studio 2012 (VC++ 11.0)

so, i try the first option which leads to "https[Suspicious link removed]"
I download and run this file (needs reboot)

Step 3
Download using the button below. Extract and run the YadaCoin executable.

Download file, and run, black dos window appears, nothing for 5-10 secs, then a load of text flashes in the box, then box closes....
Cannot do steps 4, 5 , 6 cos no browser opens, nothing !

So Mr dev, as i asked nearly 2 years ago
Can you please check your work, start with a clean windows install (as most users do) and walk thru the process you are asking us to, and document which options we need to choose, and which downloads we actually require.

I would actually like to see a working wallet just once.

---------------------------
To everyone else who is clearly brighter than me and has a wallet, and may even be mining it,
I ask, what hardware are you mining with?
Solo, pools? (I can't find a single pool) (https://yadacoin.io/pool-stats - helps in no way) (https://yadacoin.io/hashrate - never loads up) (https://yadacoin.io/explorer - hashrate of 8k on randomx, tells me there is probably only 1 miner)
How many coins are you mining a day?
Is there anywhere at all to sell these coins, and if so, what is the value.

Is this coin actually worth mining?

Would love anyone to put together a simple line by line instruction set.

Thanks

oh, my yada_app.log says "2021-02-12 08:39:31,663 CRITICAL get_latest_block failed" if this means anything to anyone

I would love to help you get your node up and running. Sorry you're having difficulty but thanks for the detailed feedback.

Can you start a cmd window first and then drag the yadacoin exe into it and then run it. That'll keep the window from closing when you get an error. Then can you please paste the error here and I can provide further assistance.

Ok, I have a very rough iteration uploaded of posts and comments on https://yadacoin.io/socialapp

This update allows you to post and comment on posts like you'd expect, but you can also enter a live chat on a post. So each post not only has a comment section, it also have a live chat room. And again, all chats, posts, and comments are completely encrypted and private. The server has zero knowledge of group names, passwords, messages, or participants. Go check it out!

YadaCoin V3.3.0 is now released! Make sure you grab this update before block 65500! We're currently at 65,436 with approximately 1 hour block times.

If you're running from source, do:
git pull origin master
pip install -r requirements-python3.txt

Binaries:
Windows:
https://github.com/pdxwebdev/yadacoin/releases/download/v3.3.0/YadaCoinV3.3.0-Fork-65500-Windows.zip

Ubuntu:
https://github.com/pdxwebdev/yadacoin/releases/download/v3.3.0/YadaCoinV3.3.0-Fork-65500-Ubuntu.tar.gz

If you want to review the research behind this retarget fork, checkout the test-bed repo:
https://github.com/pdxwebdev/rx-experiments

This release also includes many bug fixes and usability improvements to the wallet app.

We recently published and blog outlining our experience implementing RandomX. There are some interesting takeaways.

https://medium.com/@pdxwebdev/yadacoins-experience-forking-to-randomx-c43ad5d80956

Set up a node with a single command on Ubuntu 18.04:
Code:
wget -O - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pdxwebdev/yadacoin/master/setup.sh | bash

Do you have block explorer up and running? I was looking at your OP but there's no link for this? Is the difficulty not too high? Want to check if it is still worth to cpu mine your coin.

We're working on implementing RandomX. We'll be forking to that algo and then CPU miners can be used again.
