Can anyone pls comment on official ZEN statement on ASICs and changing algo to ASICs resistant, but in a short quick way.
whats the TLDR version?

Thanks.
Potential Equihash Algorithm Change Preparation

Modifying ZenCash to use Equihash-144-5 is doable, and the software development team has started identifying the specific work that would need to be done in order to create and test this change. It would be a Hard Fork change, and for optimal success of the Hard Fork, it would be best to implement such a proposed change as quickly as reasonably possible before too many ASIC miners take over the hashrate of ZenCash.

These are great news and a strategic move to put zencash out of asic world (at least for a few months more) and a step ahead of other privacy cryptos like ZCash.

Very good news indeed!

P.S Forgot to mention that Binace list is another great great news.....

The effort beeing made by the team and the low profile (like i like) is giving their results.

Probably soon Poloniex and Bitfinex too.. eh eh eh

Why is Zen pumping ATM? 0.009 BTC on OKEX
Why is no-one talking about it?

Zencash listed on Binance probably helps: https://support.binance.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004160491

Hilarious that we were just talking about how Zencash could have another go as a community coin, and boom, just gets listed no fuss.

MedaR was probably laughing and enjoying the discussion about how the community can help get a Binance listing - it was already happening! Wink

On 5:30 AM UTC, Binance announced that Zencash was listed on the exchange platform. It already open for trading for ZEN/BNB, ZEN/BTC, and ZEN/ETH. - This is a signal to strong growing up for ZEN? Voting now - https://yeenot.today/catalog/news/284

Yeah they aren't mucking around, it will be open for trading very soon! Probably a lot of people who are thinking the same thing - buy on one exchange and sell high on the always popular Binance.

I've mined a bit of ZEN so might sell some. These exchange listing 'pumps' don't usually last long from what I've seen. Maybe a couple days before they drop back down slightly. Also given the ZEN listing isn't attached to a random Binance trade volume competition, the pump might not go for all that long.

We are basically at ATH in BTC. Strong urges to dump the lot!!!

Thanks. That explains it. The binance ZEN markets open in 2h 15m?
You can load wallets on binance as of 45 minutes ago.

So people buy ZEN, send to binance, set high sell orders? I might give it a try, hype and all that Wink

ZenCash will become more decentralized mineable coin after the change of it's algorithm to fight against ASIC from Bitman producer.
In MedaR and ZenCash, I believe the project will find a complete solution to deal with the issue.
It's time to bring decentralization back to mining industry.

This sounds like good news, keeping the mining among the people instead of giving it up to the industry.

Yes indeed. To keep the hashrate spread out GPU is the way not ASIC. Never been a fan of ASIC to be honest and would have prefered bitcoin not having it as well. But that wont happen as ASIC have the hash and power there.

THE ETHOS SURROUNDING ZENCASH IS OF FREEDOM, DECENTRALIZATION, AND PRIVACY AS A HUMAN RIGHT.

Recent days have been tough for our GPU miners after Bitmain’s announcement of the release of Antminer Equihash ASIC miner.  Many are fearful that ASIC miners will take over the Equihash network, overpowering the GPU community and putting ZenCash at risk of becoming centralized under a big company like Bitmain. The ultimate risks are in a potential 51% attack and overpowering the Zen ecosystem with our future DAO voting system.

We value decentralization and our GPU miners who are an integral part of the community.  Changing algorithms is an extremely complex activity and we are not going to rush into a decision that may compromise the safety or integrity of the Zen network. It’s important that we take time to conduct research and evaluate options to properly formulate a plan.

We welcome discussion during this evaluation period. Join the discussion on ZenCashOfficial Github Issue 142:  ASIC Resistance thread.
Also, listen to both co-founders, Rob Viglione and Rolf Versluis, discuss the issue in the videos to the right ->:

Simply wanted to share something with the community:

ASICs are still necessary because they lead to more advancement in stronger asic-resistant coin. The problem...[Below]

ASICs could work if there is more competition in the market and no monopoly of single company. Another problem is there retail availabilty and pre mining which could be solved if competition increases. Intel only bought good processors for cheap when AMD bought them in the market first. Competition solves many problem and it is necessary for healthy working of capitalism.

As I've mentioned in previous posts in other threads:  "IF" ASIC's could meet those [And other requirements I've mentioned], I would be FINE with them."  At this current time... It's a NO for me.  Those criteria are not currently met and may never be.  Time will tell.

Some see ASIC's as a necessary evil.  "Necessary," because of "so-called" security of the network.  "Evil," because of not meeting the requirements I have mentioned in several posts in other threads/forums.

This falls pretty much into the same category as FREEDOM.  In what way?  If one decides they will give up some freedom for the sake of some security, they deserve and will get NEITHER!!! - Similar to Benjamin Franklin's quote: "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
