Don't forget that Zencash is not only a cryptocurrency, there is also the messaging application, anonymously publish data, etc
Zen is a platform focusing on privacy user with multiple solutions

ZenCash this way migrating from cryptocurrency to platform concept.

Super Nodes introduce sidechaining, and will be able run a bunch of different services. First service what was justified or was the motivation for creating those new class of nodes was to migrate logic for the Secure Nodes tracking and payment system of chain to on chain, and this is very important for the future of architecture of system so make it more censorship resistant. Main motivation here is to create the world’s most censorship resistant privacy oriented platform.

if I understand correctly, then any project should have some goal for implementation which will need tokens. what is the purpose of your project?
ZenCash is a platform designed for private communications and private economic activity.
ZenCash is an end-to-end-encrypted system with zero-knowledge technology over which communications, data, or value can be securely transmitted and stored.

ZenCash main purpose is to help humanity to take control over their economic activities and stands behind community core beliefs in human rights and freedom of speech. Through various projects such as ZenPub, ZenHIde, ZenChat we are trying to boost usebility of Zen, not only as cryptocurrency but rather used as platform with endless capabilities of upgrading new aplications and services.

Secure Nodes vs Masternodes

Masternodes (aka bonded validator systems) act as blockchain protectors from network attacks. They function similar to proof of stake algorithms but using slightly different incentives and market structure.

Masternodes (like with DASH) serve functions like instant and anonymous payments. Additionally, they support decentralized governance where node operators can vote on any issues.

One critique of miners is the incentives can switch from one coin to the next as day to day as profitability and difficulty fluctuates. To remedy that, Masternodes require a set amount of collateral to operate the node keeping operators loyal.

The way Masternodes receive compensation through a dividend-like yield (similar to Bitcoin’s miner rewards).

ZenCash works on a a similar incentive model. Slight modifications warranted a name change to secure nodes rather than “masternodes.” The difference is to not lock coins out of the network (causing artificial inflation), keep a low barrier to entry and ensure network security.
https://coincentral.com/zencash-beginners-guide/

We have over 11k Secure Nodes online, BTC is already behind and we will overpass ETH.
https://securenodes.eu.zensystem.io/

The ZenCash Treasury and Voting model is the most elegant Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) model in the market.  We are very excited to work with IOHK and InfoPulse to deliver a highly complex programmatic solution to the ZenCash Treasury system.

Thank you for giving us detailed answer, and clarifying questions. I want to know if I can be eligible for the competition by just depositing required ZEN right before the deadline, and withdrawing it right after the snapshot.

when fork?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh
block height or date?
ty
First Hard Fork will occur in July to modify the protocol and allow the change in miner reward division to 10% supernodes, 10% securenodes, 10% treasury, 70% miners.
Second fork is planned minimum two months after the first one, and it will be focused on the extended transactions confirmation.
Got your plan, MedaR.
Changing distributional block rewards (more to secure nodes and supermodels) to maintain healthy network and prevent attacks.
Then, increasing required confirmations for transactions.
Good plan.
Yes 30% of every block will go to different stakeholder groups instead of miners, this will significantly improve our network security.
Aslo costs for this kind of attacks will increase.
Read this article how those attacks can costs real fortune:

ZEN competition starting 26/05/18 at 12.00 UTC - don't miss out! https://support.binance.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004205332
I have several questions about this competition.
Where those ZEN for reward came from? Were those included in listing contract, like listing fee, with Binance? (If you can't answer, please just ignore it.)
Is it possible to get reward for Tier B by just depositing 1,000 ZEN right before the end, and withdrawing it right after the snapshot?

Not sure but I believe it comes from Binance pocket? It helps them to incrase the trading volume ?

I'm interested in this too. I don't mind what the answer is but Binance runs these type of competitions often and I wonder if it is a requirement of the listing fee or negotiated separately to the listing fee.
Maybe, they bought up from several exchanges before listing on theirs. I heard that Binance did same kind of competition with Ontology, and IOST. Its kind of scary to gather huge percentage of coins at single exchange. I hope it won't be hacked, or something similar happens.
I will reply to all quoted posts.

The Binance giveaway was funded between Zen and Binance. Binance was kind to add the additional funding and set parameters.

NDAs prevents us from speaking details. We have a fantastic Business Development departmental that maintains best interest and deals for Zen. Probably the best BD in crypto!

That is basic principle why miners should choose different pools to mine in order to help maintaining healthy status of blockchain networks.
However, the recent attacks on BitcoinGold network maybe due to its small total hashrates and easily be dominated by a bit large mining farms.
Here's a thought: If a 51% attack were to occur on Zencash like it did on Bitcoingold (same Equihash algo)

In my point of view, this is also basic and important functions of secure nodes (and masternodes, in other crypto coins). Those ones will help to make networks more secure, stable and reliable.

if the same attacker or someone else with huge Equihash hash power decided to target Zencash, where would the secure nodes come in? Would they prevent such an attack, make an attack harder/more expensive to execute or not at all?

Would the new update in July with increased block rewards for secure nodes and the introduction of super nodes add more security to the network? If so, in what way?

Very curious about this. Thank you

i am always postponing my decision because is extremely complicated to configure one node. And dev team done almost nothing untill today to help less savvy people to configure nodes, either getting a less complicated process or an easy undurstandable how-to guide to do the job....

There are few tutorials explaining from A to Z. blog posts and videos

I advise you to join their Discord channel because there is a channel exclusively where you can ask for help there. There are always guys happy to help.
