Guys I guess I need help with Swing wallet. Updated it to last 0.80.5 version, now the blockchain is not syncing at all, "Network peers: 0 connections". Then I deleted everything in appdata leaving only wallet, .conf and .pem files, hoping to synk from scratch, but the situation remains the same. Zen forum seems to be offline or I can't connect to it.
I will contact developer to hear his instructions in your case, just stay calm and keep your wallet.dat safe.

Team migrate content from old domain to new one, so this is why you are experiencing problems to connect to forum.

I've just seen in the past posts mentions of a "zenpub". Sounds intriguing, any links where it's well explained what's that about?

The main reason government could ban zencash in the future is because of its anonymous/untraceable transaction feature.

But could they enforce the ban if it is an anonymous and untraceable currency?  But because they know who the team people are that have created ZenCash then they could put pressure on those people to destroy ZenCash???  The question I have is:  What would the developers of ZenCash have to do in order to destroy ZenCash if they were told to do so or go to jail if they failed to do so? Or, is the genie out of the bottle now and ZenCash can not be stopped or destroyed?  Only those who know the tech behind it, would know the answer.

Thanks.
What can one team of developers do? Code is open and if one team fails others will emerge you just cannot kill ideas?

Why do you think story must go this way? Biggest "threat" still is Bitcoin.. And yet they will not ban it, more likely will introduce set of regulations..

Anononimity is your right!
In some countires this techonlogy is the only way for safe communication, so stands behind basic principals of human rights on free speach and communication. This  zkSNARKs technology is so advanced and amazing, deserves Nobel Prize if you are asking me.

While all this FUD with child porn on bitcoins blockchain happening now, I want to ask a question. Will ZenPub have some protection from such content? Cause, unfortunately, there are many freaks in this world, how can we protect our Zen network from them?

That's a really good question! We've been having some discussion about how to handle ZenPub. On one hand, we're doing it for censorship resistance; on the other, we don't want creeps to use our infrastructure for harmful purpose like child porn. It's a tough balancing act we're seriously considering, but glad this conversation is starting...

It's extremely hard to do. If you break censorship resistance you undermine the value proposition of a  decentralized wealth storage and cash system tremendously. I don't know how this will work out in the end even for Bitcoin.

Who ever thinks internet itself is a safe place should go offline right now and never come back. The main reason government could ban zencash in the future is because of its anonymous/untraceable transaction feature.

I don't know how you can have both censorship and censorship resistance in an immutable database.

In fact I wonder if it's possible to have censorship at all. Even if there are no fields for arbitrary user data, it'd be possible to encode data in the amount field.

What would a bank or stock exchange do if they found out illegal data is encoded in their databases through a sequence of stock market prices? Roll back all the transactions?
I'm afraid, if ZenPub will not have any censorship, it will become a trashcan with child porn and nazi manifests. And all ZEN block chain will be banned by officials. So, maybe, it will be rational to refuse from ZenPub file storage at all. You should never underestimate humans stupidity, which can destroy any new brilliant technology.

I share the same concerns, something we'll seriously consider before releasing design specs. It's possible to consider a gatekeeping function where maybe the community has a veto function before committing to chain, but even that raises questions.
Thank you for your answer. I'm really glad, that you are thinking about solving of that problem. Yeah, it may be a veto function, however, it will be needed in huge human resources. Somebody must be looking for such content and refuse it. Maybe, there should be a reward system for them. Of course, it will be perfect if there will be some AI which can handle it fairly. But, unfortunately, I'm not a programmer, so I don't know if it possible at all  Smiley

Exactly...unless we do some sort of ZenPub gating through which community has veto over what gets pushed to pub, we can't exactly roll back a recorded tx on chain. We really need to think through all options and tradeoffs.

Is a static IP mandatory? I only have dynamic address.. Can I use DDNS to install a secure node?
Dynamic DNS would be flaky at best, you really need static ips in my opinion.
