When will the algo change?
There is no exact date.

This is official Team's statement ->
https://blog.zencash.com/zencash-statement-on-potential-equihash-algorithm-change/

A very wise and balanced approach. It is good to have a team with an excellent grasp of the situation and responsive to the instances of the community.
We are relying on community and all feedbacks are important for us. Thanks for support!

I agree that the fork in not a matter of the heart, an impulsive decision is not a wise decision, however i have no doubt that Bitmain(iacs) and its corrosive equihash ASIC´s are corroding Zencash GPU community and left the coin with less members and support, and less visibility too.

Miners are less each day but net hash is higher everyday (data from biggest pool Suprnova) -
Pool Hash: 26,833,054.92 Sol/s
Pool Workers: 4992
Net Hash: 72,126,122.00 Sol/s

Now it is better mine other coin with GPU, or switch off GPU.

Other day there was a farm with over 22,000,000,000 Kh/s, yes the number is correct. Half of the mining power at Suprnova that day.
Made a calculation and was about 2200 units of Z9 mini units mining...

It was a speculator and was mining almost 6000 Zen/day.

very sad... i hop that each day is passing it will not be a nail in the zen community coffin....

Medar,

Each day that goes by the ASIC´s community that are mining Zencash has more mining power,  it is not hard to see and feel
if fork was voted by hashpower i think at this moment ASIC´s will win. If the opinions/votes was - one man one vote, no matter what, i think GPU wins, hands down.
We also need to protect this project from 51% attacks in the future and some would say that this is priority especially if we are talking about adoptation which is crucial for the future of every project.

Bingo!  I recognized this as an issue after the 51% attacks happened.  It really re-frames the whole GPU vs. ASIC debate.

So ASIC (fewer miners) gives better protection vs 51% attacks than GPU? In a way it makes sense as getting ASIC in big quantity is harder than GPU at the moment. And if you use ASIC to burn the coin with 51% attack you got a bunch of useless boxes after, while with GPU you can just mine something else  Undecided
Actually I'm not sure if you understood me, we are working on implementation of this protection, and we are not relingy on ASIC protection. Please check those documents:

So, the next month we will get a new name, a new logo. It's a great summer for zencash. I hope people will like the changes and new people will come to use the zen platform

There is a new video about Zencash transformation:

https://twitter.com/zencashofficial/status/1022173610142838784

This video talks about new name, new logo, new website and what about new fork/algo, is there anything in the horizon?
I like the logo and name of coin, why change all of this?

Is it to clean the image left a few weeks ago with the 51% attack?

Hello

I want to ask about master nodes - my friend owns few hundred ZEN and hes interested in creating them but ... where can he find tutorial? last time (few months ago) when i checked as far as I remember creating master node was a little tricky for a person with no computer experience - how it looks now?

Check the following link
https://zencash.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ZEN/pages/7537317/Secure+and+Super+Nodes

And if you are facing a problem you can join their discord, or there are services to set up your nodes for a fee
This is link correct link https://zencash.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ZEN/pages/7537317/Secure+and+Super+Nodes
I'm not sure why your link do not work  Huh

I understand everything correctly there is a bounty subscription in this project?  Huh
It is very strange because he has been working for a long time and he seems to like it is not necessary... The project is very like but the fact that they conducted the attack 51% is not very good.

When the algorithm changed implemented in ZenCash network, I believe it can have big impacts (positive ones) on the community.
It's always good to become ASIC-resistant, because coins with ASIC-resistant characteristics can have stronger ability to deal with dominant hashrates, which in turn prevent potential attacks.

This is an ill-conceived thought process.  A coin that can only be mined by GPU and has a low network hashrate can be attacked by renting GPUs from Nicehash or Miningrigrentals.  Why wouldn't someone try a 51% attack with bitcoin?  Because it's network hashrate is too high to make it worth the effort... this is due to ASICs dominating the network.

so, you have decided to fork the classic equihash algo ? this is big. i have to admit i agree to this measure, but if the coin is really profitable someone will still make an asic for it.
They also have other counter-measurement against 51% attack, by modifying Satoshi Consensus to enhance its protection. You can read the post at their blog.
