As for me, it will take Solana time before it will move higher than Ethereum not minding the market friction that it has been able to fixed since existence. Such statement is easy to say so as to encourage new investors to put in money as that will move the market direction upward.
shifting ethereum to become the king of altcoins is not easy, even now SOL has not been able to shift USDT from rank 4 CMC and BNB from rank 3 CMC. it is possible to shift USDT not too difficult because SOL once displaced USDT from rank 4, but to shift BNB from rank 3 is certainly not going to be easy because BNB is backed by the largest exchange today.

@Abiky. I agree on the represntation on what cryptocoins should or should not be, however, in blockchains that want to be the backend for decentralized smart contracts and applications, how much decentralization does it really need? Solana is more centralized, however, is it centralized described as a network running from only 1 server? I reckon we should begin to view it deeper more than the storylines are telling us.

The way the Solana blockchain is structured, tells us it's far less decentralized than competing smart contract platforms like Ethereum and Cardano. Consensus mechanisms greatly affect a cryptocurrency's degree of decentralization. Solana uses a type of BFT (Byzantine Fault Tolerance) consensus algorithm, so there's that. To make matters worse, the project's developer team is planning to introduce an "observation system" in order to "better identify and patch issues accordingly". They came up with this after a serious of network disruptions faced lately by the Solana blockchain. I can't imagine how SOL will last for long if it takes a centralized approach. You can look for more info about Solana's level of decentralization here: https://cryptobriefing.com/how-decentralized-is-solana/

With what's been happening with Solana lately, I don't think it will "kill" Ethereum anytime soon. Who knows how far it'll last?  Roll Eyes

Yeah but how can something be an ETH killer when it is heavily centralized. I know that will change at some point , but currently that is not the case. I do like what they are doing, and their transaction throughout is amazing, combined with their speed, they have a chance to take them out. But only if they decentralize. Time will tell all!

Exactly. Solana often sacrifices decentralization in order to obtain high performance and cost-efficiency. This greatly defeats the purpose of crypto/Blockchain tech. Why'd you want to use something cheap and fast, when it can be extremely vulnerable to external attacks or manipulation? People don't seem to get what crypto is all about since they're only following the money. They'll regret themselves dearly once everything goes down the drain at a fast pace. It's no secret that Solana faced a network disruption some time ago. This shows us that the network is not as reliable and secure as many thought it would be.

Let's face it, no competitor can outmatch Ethereum no matter which shiny new features it has. EOS once claimed to be the next "Ethereum killer" only to fail doing so in the long term. Even Polkadot was thought to be Ethereum's successor when there was a lot of hype surrounding it. You really can't beat something that it's decentralized and has first-mover advantage on the market. Saying that you'll "kill Ethereum" is like saying you'll "kill Bitcoin". Instead of trying to defeat ETH, projects should focus on taking their own path to help make crypto/Blockchain land a better place. Just my opinion Smiley

However, it is being a little centralized that causes Solana, Binance smart chain and other blockchains to be faster than their competitors. If you ask them to be more decentralized, it will be more work for their to transmit data to all of the nodes if their are more of them and slow them down.

There was an article about this where it said some centralization is acceptable because for blockchains to work on a real world setting, it must be a balance between speed and security.

Why does everything has to be this or that killer? Why can't just let it have its own identity. Istfg
What I feel about the topic Ethereum killer is that it's more interesting to discuss, bro, if for research/results, it's better to have a single identity,

if the form Anticipate between some of the coins above to avoid prolonged bearishness, which one do you choose bro?

Let's see once Ethereum 2.0 is done. Will it still be called an Ethereum Killer or just another altcoin out of the thousands out there.
Anyone can claim they are better than another and even with Bitcoin. What if it is and we missed it?
But it's also nice to stay at your right position when you know it is not better than it. Stay at the number 2 position and be the better option over any shit altcoins that is being created.

Every project that comes out now claims to be the next Bitcoin or Ethereum or killer, this is to attract attention and invite people to check on their project I have seen a lot of projects like being hype as the next one, people look and check this kind of project because they want to be an early bird and get in while cheap, but many of them did not live up to people's expectation.

I've already read here on Bitcointalk similar info about Solano ( https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ethereum-or-solana-5368338  - Ethereum or Solana?
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--5372921  - The Battle of the Blockchains: XDC vs Solana. Who is Ethereum Killer?
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/how-good-is-solana-and-can-it-run-along-ethereum-in-long-run-5362442  - How good is Solana? And can it run along Ethereum in long run?) . Obviously Solana is good alt but it is still under a big question whether it can compete with ETH.
You can find also themes where  is discussing Polkadot (that future is among DOT and it will become ETH killer because it has cool blockchain https://polkadot.network/ , https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/polkadot-can-take-place-of-ethereum-5291107 - Polkadot can take place of Ethereum?) and many other alts: Cardano ( https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/how-cardano-aiming-to-solve-problems-that-ethereum-cant-solve-5329890  - How Cardano aiming to solve problems that Ethereum cant' solve?) , Ripple ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1151866.500 - Ripple vs Ethereum) , Neo ( https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/neo-vs-eth-2752393 - NEO VS ETH) etc. That these alts can compete with ETH and become better ( https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/coins-with-a-potential-like-the-ethereum-5368837 - Coins with a potential like the Ethereum.).
However let’s face the truth, despite of huge fees and some problems ETH is on the second position of Coinmarketcap. Buterin’ team is always working over ETH platform to make it more interesting, better and quicker. Ethereum 2.0 despite of all criticism is working. A lot of developers continue using ETH platform as a most easy and reliable way to create their projects. NFT, thousands of Defi projects, a lot of crypto games – all these are based on ETH. My position is strict: I still think, other alts have no chances to chase and overtake ETH.

They usually have this statement to hype their own project, I know SOL is also a good one but its not easy to beat ETH and they should look for BNB first before talking about ETH. Well, there’s a lot of competitors in the market and they are all doing good but still ETH was able to remain on top. I believe if they really want to beat ETH then they must continue to develop great things, this is not easy to achieve but it may happen in the future, no one knows.

We can already see by the example of Balance Smart Chain what happens to the network when the number of users increases and the number of projects running on the BSC blockchain increases. The same thing will happen with Solana when the load on the network increases due to low commissions. But we must admit that Ethereum developers also have their own plans, although they are being implemented more slowly than the market requires.

Does it really matter whether it is decentralized or centralized? Maybe it’s all about just being real good?
Solana has been pulling a heavy weight as of recent, although I wouldn’t say that’s enough reason for it to cross Ethereum. Ethereum is quite strong, and so far I think it has only been XRP that was able to beat it to that second position, but after sometime it still went back and Ethereum took back its rightful position.

It always seems like ETH has cemented itself in that position and wouldn’t be going down again, just like Bitcoin seems to have taken the first position in general for good. And the ETH 2.0 is a better version and would mean further progress.

I've just watched what might be the most popular video about Solana on Youtube, as I didn't have a good knowledge of this project. The promise of 710k transactions per second could be a big deal, specifically for adoption of a crypto as money. Bitcoin does have a big scalability issue, and it seems that, from a technical standpoint, Solana is better for a situation with tons of payments. As for proof of history, I'm not sure if it's legit enough as a consensus mechanism to gain enough adoption and support from the crypto community. And support is key, the attractiveness of technology itself is not enough. So I don't think it's even realistic to predict Solana surpassing Ethereum.

Sam Bankman-Fried is a very famous manipulator and has been manipulating the price of solana for a long time.
He is the founders of Alameda Research and the FTX crypto exchange.
When you do a little research on this person's biography, then you change your mind about investing in the assets that he advertises.
Look at this data
https://cryptorank.io/ico/solana

This is not a defense for Sam, however, who is not a manipulator in the cryptospace? Changpeng Zhao is also a famous manipulator, also the hustlers behind Bitfinex. Vitalik is also not an angel himself in the cryptospace hehe. He and his father might have done one the biggest market manipulations during the young days of Ethereum.
You are correct that Sam Bankman-Freed is not the biggest shark in this market, and crypto exchanges are not made to enrich hamsters, but to ruin them.
I have provided a link for beginners to understand that from the current price of solana can fall from 50 to 85% in a bear market.
Even if you test the Solana ecosystem, you can see that it lags far behind competitors, and its price increases more than 100 times since the beginning of the year.

Agreed. Solana can fall up to 85%, however, we cannot be hypocrites in the cryptospace. In reality, you also know what can fall 85%? Bitcoin because it is pumped on leverage from $10k to $60k which we sometimes cannot be certain anymore if the USDT used is really backed by dollars.

Similar to Solana and everything else in the cryptospace, it is growing into a bubble. The bubble pop will certainly be next.

Ethereum will probably remain as the best altcoin. I think before that BNB will beat Ethereum but I was wrong, so I don't think SOL would be able to do that since Etherum although the network is not perfect, but once the ETH 2.0 is out, it will improve and investors will be hype more. ||

We should also consider the length of team of their existence, and ETH been on the right path although the development are delayed.
binance has indeed become an alternative that is often used after the high-cost ethereum platform, but I believe with you that it is very difficult to replace ethereum in altcoins, despite the obstacles so far. Obviously ethereum will also continue to improve itself, and binance will also have the same problem if BNB prices are high, just like erc20 is now with ethereum.

Once again, with ethereum's long history, it's not easy for investors to want to change with just one thing because everything is well thought out.

I would have trusted his word as Solana the Ethereum killer and believed him if Solana did not have a network outage on September 14.

In every phase of development there are challenges to be surmounted, Solana had a network outage that as long been fixed and there has been no repeat of it since then.
What he is saying is true and not cheap talk, Solana fixes a lot of problems with Ethereum and if Ethereum Devs don't rise to the challenge, Ethereum will one day become obsolete and that is the reality.
For max blockchain adoption, transaction fees has to be minimal and transaction rates must go up.

these few days there's always been a new discussion about this which is proud to say the killer of ethereum and killer of bitcoin and others Cheesy

Yes bro,I've heard rumors like that, the virtual world was stirred up with several statements that might (the ratio of reason can reach) of course the main thing is that the market has everything when who bets first and goes (sells) first, not just a bookie

I've also heard bro, there are several coins that are paired as killers ETHEREUM, namely

  • Polkadot
  • Cardano

And now associated with SOLANA
We don't know that in a decentralized world, no one regulates any one party or any institution in this traffic flow.

It could all happen when the dealer, which is above the city, goes down the mountain to set up nets or HODL
No one knows the details of each coin's journey, including solana, 1 second in the future, 1 hour in the future, 1 month in the future, 1 year in the future, even in the future? this is the art of investing/trading even because someone loves coins, some of them are willing even though they are not worth the price (bagholder) Of course the current price of EHTREUM AND BITCOIN is not that magical, right?

We don't know what's with it and if there's really a road map for him to stand with what he says. But you're right that most projects today are supporting two chains and even three chains.
But the main chains as erc20 and bsc, these are the standards of most project today and they never let go of erc20 despite the issue about the fees.

I was only joking about the roadmap hehe. I was serious about Sam Bankman-Fried on becoming the Jeff Bezos or the Bill Gates of the cryptospace, however. This is why I am shaking my head. He is a good CEO but why tell everyone a statement that appears to be a scam? Is he scamming us or has he seen something everyone has not seen?
We don't know. Sometimes there are those perma bull becomes bearish and I think that's the same attitude as him. Probably someone who also wants to buy bitcoin at cheap price.
With such statements and with his status and position in the community, he can drive the prices down if he's quite influential just as the others. Well, just guessing.

I did not expect such things to come out from him, who is supposed to guide the community.

There won't be a next bitcoin because i think bitcoin will always be the number 1 cryptocurrency and i am really not a BTC evangelist or stuff like that i don't even own bitcoin myself because i am mostly investing into new projects when i am investing money into cryptos. It is also true that projects like Ethereum, Solana, soon maybe cardano and also soon Radix are offering way more in comparison to bitcoin because those are real ecosystems where you can create your own tokens you can program apps and Dexes because of the smart contract functionality and so on. Bitcoin will stay number 1 simply because for a lot of people it is still true that crypto = Bitcoin.

Yes, many projects are claiming to be killers of other coins, bitcoin killer, ethereum killer, doge killer, etc., but in reality, they can't beat the market cap of these coins. For Solana, in terms of transaction speed and fees, it can be said to beat ethereum, but in the future, will Solana be able to beat the popularity of ethereum as the coin with the largest market cap after bitcoin? Especially if later ethereum 2.0 has been released, in my opinion, ethereum will still be invincible.
Once ethereum was smooth and the fee was extremely cheap and fast but once the adoption happens it started to face issues and that's why ethereum 2.0 is in the progress stage to solve all the issues meanwhile other coins are trying and the successful was BSC due to the Binance reputation and none other preferred by the developers to be honest.

I don’t think I saw anywhere in the article that you posted where he said that solana is going to beat Bitcoin. He only kept mentioning ethereum, and not Bitcoin, and I’m not doubting that solana can one day have a huge market cap that might overtake ethereum’s own market cap. It is quite a really good project coming and it has been on the trending list for a really long time, and so far there has been a lot of investors who are interested in it.

But, let us not forget that this is not the first time that we’re seeing a cryptocurrency that has called itself the ethereum killer, so many cryptocurrencies has been released for over the years now and all of them had the same plans of overtaking the number one alternative cryptocurrency in the market. They all end up failing at last, and being put in a position where they belong.

I have read and heard many people saying that this kind of project will going to be an "Ethereum killer" or would going to replace Ethereum or bitcoin in the most common and trend token but none of them have proven so far. Though I do appreciate the usecases of Solana and no doubt that it is a good project indeed however there are already other projects that has the same feature or usecase as Solana were trying to provide, Binance is also present in the picture so I think it's quite impossible though I love Solana projects.

There have been many projects created to replace Ethereum or Bitcoin, but so far nothing has worked. Bitcoin and Ethereum are still in the top
positions as the most popular cryptos and have strong fundamentals. It is very difficult to create new projects that beat either Bitcoin or
Ethereum, especially Bitcoin is already iconic in the crypto world. Bitcoin already has loyal supporters and is ready to fight for the future of Bitcoin.
Even BNB the predicted can replace ETH, still not proven to beat ETH. So don't believe if there are new projects that promise to replace BTC or ETH
in the future, it's just marketing strategy to attract investors.

I would agree about Ethereum, despite I'm an Ethereum holder. The same issue is being addressed again and again about the fees. I'm a believer on it and looking forward to the greatest value that ETH can show. Maybe solana can be at least next to it or be par with it.
But going on that far about bitcoin, that makes it a total waste of someone's idea that he shouldn't have to tell things like that because it would surely be dropping his thought and credibility towards bitcoin to the crowd.

I am not quite certain that it would be Solana that kills Ethereum. I speculate other blockchains that are EVM compatible would be more possible to replace Ethereum because it would be more convenient for the projects that uses the ERC20 standard to port them. We are presently witnessing this in some projects where they issue in both Binance smartchain and Ethereum.

However, this is Sam Bankman-Fried, the future Jeff Bezos of the cryptospace. He might have a roadmap to kill Ethereum hehehe.
We don't know what's with it and if there's really a road map for him to stand with what he says. But you're right that most projects today are supporting two chains and even three chains.

Where Solana's Popularity Is Count

Starting from bounty hunters, airdrop hunters to traders.

It cannot be separated from its own achievements and privileges with its network
Among them;

  • Solana was chosen for stacking, Proof of Stake (PoS) itself provides security and control to manage his financial situation.
  • Between solana and ETH there are complementary and there are differences that are natural laws, bro
  • Both in terms of capital and opportunities, I think it deserves to be discussed. Personally surprised the price of solana jumped from $10 to %100 in such a short time (last few weeks),
all with proper preparation (developer) this is the definition of a good project. it could be ethereum being moved

I would have trusted his word as Solana the Ethereum killer and believed him if Solana did not have a network outage on September 14. Also, I like Sam Bankman-Fried. He will be the next Jeff Bezos of the world, I reckon. However, shilling Solana as something that would become the next Bitcoin, as mentioned in the article, is a scam statement. I did not expect such things to come out from him, who is supposed to guide the community.

...

Bankman-Fried adds that Solana’s market cap could exceed Ethereum’s market. However, it is hard to make a concrete prediction. But one thing that cannot be disputed is that Solana fixes a lot of problems with Ethereum. These include high gas fees and low transaction rates. Subsequently, many have dubbed the network “ethereum killer.”

Bankman-Fried believes that in terms of scale, not many blockchains could compare to Solana. Earlier this month, he spoke at Yahoo Finance and Decrypts’s “Crypto Goes Mainstream” conference.

“Solana is one of the few currently existing public blockchains that has a really plausible roadmap to scale millions of transactions per second at you know, fractions of a penny per transaction, which is a scale that you need for this,” Bankman-Fried said.

“That is not where a lot of other blockchains have been focusing, including ethereum.”

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. I mean, every competing smart contract platform claimed to be the "next Ethereum killer" only to fail doing so in the long run. EOS was once hailed to be "Ethereum's successor" only to become practically abandoned by people in the mainstream world. The platform is mostly used for gambling these days, with a very small ecosystem built around it. And don't let me get started on Ethereum Classic. What makes you think Solana will be any different?

Believe me, none can outmatch Ethereum's level of decentralization and censorship-resistance. It's not about cheap fees or blazing-fast transaction confirmation times, but rather security, reliability, and most of all, decentralization. Solana faced a network disruption some time ago, putting the Blockchain almost to a "halt". This shows us the alternative smart contract platform isn't as decentralized and reliable as Ethereum. As long as competing chains are missing this, ETH's position as the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap will remain unchanged. Just my opinion Smiley

He might have a roadmap to kill Ethereum hehehe.

could be like that..break new ground by reducing gas costs because ethereum is currently very high with such a move it will reduce market interest about ethereum and start moving to solana which is starting to show very high value and very high market interest as well..

The second largest cryptocurrency commands a market cap of more than half a trillion — more than 7 times higher than Solana. ... Market experts said Solana could dethrone Ethereum in the long term. "Solana should be able to strengthen its developer community.

When EIP1559 has released, many expected that the gas fees of Ethereum will drop significantly because of that. What is the end result? Same problem. Gas Fees of Ethereum is still high as of now.

With this problem of Ethereum, many projects are finding another blockchain that will support their project. Projects such as Binance Coin, Solana and Cardano are the ones who are popular right now when it comes to smart contract. TBH, I'm quite surprised with how Solana's price spiked within the last months but to claim that Solana will exceed Ethereum's market cap is far from reality. There are still projects that are under Ethereum right now and there will still be some.

The reliability of Ethereum compare to these other smart contract projects makes it at the top 2 in terms of market cap and aside from that, there are still other reasons why Ethereum is still at the top 2 right now and in fact I think that we might see it go at the $5,000 price. Maybe when he said that Solana is something that would become the next Bitcoin, he just woke up from his beautiful dream. Kidding aside, this will not happen.

I don't understand why we want some project to kill other project just to get its marketcap. In reality it will not gonna happened the project itself becomes dead or obsolete. Even Bitcoin has a lot of competitors out that has better performance and yet people still choose own it because its valuable to the community. I think this blockchain will just coexist even some project is better to the others. At some point most of the holders are traders so everytime the coin of a certain project is losing value, They will usually flip and go over there just to catch the profit on buying cheap tokens. There's no way one token can dominate them all except Bitcoin.

Flipping is one thing and taking over is another, solana can flip ETH at some point but won't be the same for long, I've been in this space for years and I've seen some new projects doing so well in few years of launch, they took over top ten altcoins but after a while they lost the position, some even go down to under top 300, solana is good to say the truth but Ethereum will remain the favourite

I don't think Solana can beat Ethereum because we know that too Ethereum is one of the most accessible exchange platforms for the public Even though now Solana's market cap can exceed the Ethereum market.
But this news is also the same as the news in previous years when there was a new coin competing with bitcoin.
Ethereum is not an exchange platform, but a wallet platform that has had an extraordinary update and can be multiwallet too through the application, so Ethereum is not an exchange platform, and for Solana it is clear that it will not be able to surpass Ethereum because currently Ethereum is also experiencing a very good price increase in the market.

I admit the fact that solana is currently better off is true. but what he's saying is the next bitcoin, it's so absurd. he was very confident in what he had to say about this. it really looks like a shilling to make solana look really good. I still accept if solana is said to be the next ethereum, or ethereum killer. but not if it's about the next bitcoin or better than bitcoin.

Solana has really shown good ecosystem growth lately and personally I got a good impression of interacting with products on this blockchain. Not everything is going smoothly and I'm inclined to believe that in the future the network will "pause" more than once as it wasn't so long ago.
At the moment I think that Solana isn't in vain among the top projects but Sam is certainly exaggerating.

Several projects have been proclaimed to be the ethereum killer and next to Bitcoin and Solana isn't the first. I understand that ethereum has some challenges as the transaction fees are quite high and so many projects are considering alternatives but that doesn't make ethereum any lesser.

Not in the near because Ethereum getting more supports from the investors and we see the price can sustain at more than $4,000. Sooner or later, the price will increase more than that and maybe it will break to $5,000. Solana has a chance to grow bigger but still, it needs time and that will not happen in a short time. We can invest in Solana and hold it like we hold Ethereum so we will have a chance to make more profit from both Ethereum and Solana. I am hoping that Ethereum and Solana will be my way to make more money and I do not think Solana is a competitor for Ethereum.

Me too, it's impossible to beat ethereum as its the most reliable crypto in the market than other alts.. And indeed there's a bunch of competitors when it comes ethereum ever since before but until now they can't even shows a sign to convince investors and etc that they still have potential to flip ETH.. Lol
And probably that's what happening to SOL right now wherein at first there's an impressive performance but after all it will struggle.. Just saying.  Cheesy

There's a ladder but he is trying to bypass it by using an elevator and going up as high as Bitcoin. I think that's too much.
Instead of getting more support, the results of these shills could be the other way around because of his statements. Should've thought about it before opening his mouth. Maybe he should also think about getting a PR so that they could filter whatever he wants to say or edit it and clean up his mess.
He is doing good but may ruin everything he worked hard for with just simple mistakes like these claims.
