i'm so glad i sold my last S3's last week. this thread is beginning to read like yet another car crash.

Train wreck more like....

It's almost as if bitmain deliberately gave their entire customer base a firmware that f*cks their miners up in the hope that they'll just buy some more as replacements....the fact that they still haven't removed it from their website yet, or don't even comment about it is just astounding.....

Way to go bitmain. How the mighty have fallen......... Tongue

To add insult to injury, Bitmain tells me my warranty expired eventho I did not receive it until Sept 18th. What's up with that?

It's kinda like they start  the warranty clock on the day they ship it (- ie: Sept 11th in my case). That's just not right.

I heard back from Bitmain Warranty. They're wanting me to pay 0.18985 btc for one S3 control board. That's not the end of the world but it's the principle of the issue...so i am insisting they send it for free as the warranty (going by normal business practices and legally) does not expire until Dec 18th.

I think you've got away with it (now that the BTC rate is a bit depressed). If I were you (and that price included shipping), I'd just pay up and chase them for vouchers. That will save you on downtime and headaches, IMO.

Good news. The price Bitmain quote dme for the controller includes UPS. They shipped within 24 hrs of me paying. I will have my new controller by Dec 222nd.

Who's going to try first?
Maybe BITMAIN can try it on a unit and provide screen shots of the results? Or if Dogie has a unit that was provided maybe he could update that one and provided an update to the S3 review.

My new S3+ with the November 26 firmware is having issues.  It will hash at ~460 gh/s for about an hour then drop to ~20 gh/s.  PSU, internet, and cooling are all good. ASICs show all '0'.  Multiple pools have the same hash drop off.

I have another S3+ with the Oct 24  firmware that runs amazing with no issues for days on end.  I'm running identical PSU, internet, cooling on both S3+.

Is the Nov 26 the firmware that is full of bugs?  If so, can I 'restore' the firmware to the Oct 24 version to try and fix the problem?  Is it a difficult task?  I hate to see my new S3 having issues like this.  The S3 has been rock solid for me.

Yep, no firmware at all available for the S3 currently on the Bitmain website ... wish they'd done that yesterday before I downloaded and bricked a miner  Angry

Let's hope they are seriously getting down to re-writing a compliant release.

I was just on the Bitmain site. They have removed all of the S3 firmware.

Just the bad one is removed.

Not correct, look at the site right now and you will not find S3 Firmware. Maybe it will be back later.

There's not even a firmware link for the S3 for me, so I would support the "removed all of the S3 firmware".

This is not a thread I monitor, I only hop in and out.

Why isn't it?

What's the point in having a support thread if it isn't being monitored by anyone paid by bitmain to provide support?

Maybe if you spent a bit more time "monitoring" the support threads instead of posting cr*p in almost every other mining/hardware thread or insulting people with negative feedback for pointing out your mistakes/bullshitery, this whole mess could have been cleared up weeks ago when it first became apparent. By not monitoring this or other bitmain threads, many more bitmain customers have ended up with unusable miners - and the best you can come up with is "I don't monitor this thread?"!!

You are a f*cking joke dogie - as is bitmain support in general. Absolutely useless.

Uh huh, your theory being that because a tiny percentage of all of the S3s out there have issues, Bitmain is deliberately trying to sell more miners by crippling the ones that they have sold?

Get real.

Admittedly, it doesn't seem likely that their failure rate approaches that of Motorola or Nokia, but it certainly isn't enough to cry "conspiracy!"

Ya- you're right. That's what they're counting on. This world we live in has everyone in your pocket for every nickel (or crypto) they can grab.

I guess i will go for the quick solution.
