How about S4 by next Tuesday.

Dear Mister BitMan,

We need to know when to expect the S4  Huh

Absent news it's time to buy SP31s.

Dear Miasma,

We are waiting for testing results of the S4 sample machine. Hopefully there will be good news before next Tuesday.

Bitmain knows what it is doing.

Have people preorder s3+ over a month ahead, mine with their equipment.  After collecting everyones orders and mining with their equipment, introduce the next s4 just as you ship all the preorders you have been mining ( testing ) with.

Pretty genius, and what a money maker.

Let's put it this way, if people are willing to plunk down that much money close to 2 months ahead of time seeing the new increase of difficulty levels, what can you do?  Customers are begging bitmain to take advantage.

The timing is very sad if this is how it played out.  Would have been different if people had the s3+ machines for the last 60 days and then the new s4 got announced.

I have purchased a new S3 and Corsair CX600 psu.  I set everything up and when I connected the PCI-E connectors to the S3 the psu quit working.
I was able to reset it and tested it and it ran o.k. but as soon as I connected it to the S3 it stopped again. I do not get any lights on the miner.
I am unable to connect to to the web setup presumably because the S3 is not getting any power.  I will appreciate any help/suggestions.  Thanks.

I just need to clarify your statement.  When you say "when I connected the PCI-E connectors to the S3 the psu quit working", I interpret that as turning your PSU on before plugging the PCIe power connectors into the S3.  Is that what you were doing?  I hope not.  It should be the other way around (plug them in first then turn on the PSU).  BTW, did you "jump" your PSU appropriately?  Also, make sure that you plug in one PCIe power connector to each blade (and not plugging in both connectors to only one blade/one side).

I've been running my overclocked units (243.75M) with only CX500s at ambient room temperatures of up to 41.7C (107F) without skipping a beat.  So, you should be more than fine with a CX600.

The CX600M comes with only 2 PCI-E connectors, so that is all that were used.  It seems like the 600W model should be enough for 2 blades, but perhaps the suggestions that the unit is faulty are correct.  I will order a different model next week.

you may have a bad pcie and a good one .

you may have a half good antminer s3.  do you have the tools to take the shroud off the miner?

A phillips screwdriver is all you need.  you can plug in 1 pcie to 1 blade just make sure that the fan is plugged into that blade.
If the fan moves that pcie cord is good and that blade is good. unplug it and put the second pcie cord in the same blade if that works both pcie cords and that one blade is good.
Next test switch the fan plug to the other blade plug in 1 pcie cord see what happens. if it does not work the the second blade is bad. ou need to do this with the shroud off to be sure the fan is plugged into  the blade you used.

In my setup my Corsair CX600 supports 3 blades; 2 running at 250, 1 running at 237.5.

I use the 650RM and works fine.

You may need a 650 or only plug two plugs, one in each blade to make it work as it is.

If this works with only two PCI-E, you'll need a 650RM like mine.

If this doesn't work, you may have a faulty PSU; doesn't sound like a miner problem.

Hope this helps.

Looks like our Chinese brothers are going to shake up the Scrypt mining world. Awesome!!!

"Scrypt mining world" has been raped and pillaged already. I doubt there is much left for Bitmain to do.

Good move.

gotta let a coin be a coin
Is their anywhere selling these s3 units seprate than having to order 2x units at a times as want 3 or maybe more but do not want to have to buy 4 in one go or 6 as maybe considering 3 to 5 or 1 to begin and work up.

Min order is 2. You can order any number up from that 2.3.4.19 etc

Can anyone tell me if fan spinning at 3000rmp is faulty?
Few other ants fan spins at 1700 and only one is spinning at 3000rpm. Hashing stable with no issues.

room is air conditioned so ambient temp is low.

Since day 1, my fans have been spinning at 11760, 15300, 7200 and 9900 or thereabouts but no biggie Smiley.  Knowing that they're spinning and seem to change RPM (audibly) from time to time (presumably adjusting to the relative changes in ambient room temperature) is good enough for me.

Some later version of S3 Fan rpm is high, I contacted bitmain and they said its normal.

Can you PM whole message from bitmain regarding this issue?

thanks in advance.

PM sent to you.
